Om
Redskins 2009 Preseason Schedule: (Premature) Release March 30, 2009 It only lasted a few seconds, but I caught a whiff of football today. Aug 13 @Baltimore 7:30PM Aug 20-24 vs.Pittsburgh Aug 28 vs.New England 8PM Sept 3-4 @Jacksonville Funny how the mind works. With the release of the Redskins 2009 preseason schedule, barely a ripple in the vast football ocean, within about in a ten-second span my mind went through a process something like this: Damn–that’s four tough-ass games. Let’s see ... three monster defenses, one prime-time date with Tom “Allow Me To Demonstrate How I’m Still Damn Terrific” Brady. I smell 1-3. At Baltimore. Better hope Colt (Brennan, for the uninitiate) runs around and makes second-half magic or we may get shut out. Be pretty cool to see Haynesworth get a series though. I just want to hear his name called once. Then get him the hell out of there. The Ravens will want it more though. Show they don’t miss Ryan’s kid. Home crowd. Opener. Just get out healthy Zorn. Steelers here, huh? FedEx will be half Pittsburgh fans, half Redskins fan in a foul mood about it. Got Mace ...? CLICK HERE to read more

Om
I suppose ... though I didn't intend it as a newsbreaker. That's almost physically impossible around here--you pretty much have to post something before it gets written. I was more ... riffing. If it needs to be moved, however, that's cool. Neophyte
"Sigh." indeed, my friend. At the risk of wishing my life away it nearly can't get here fast enough for me. I know it is necessary but the offseason sucks when you don't have any other sports vices at all.
IbleedBnG83
Perfect, perfect schedule for preseason. I really want the team to be tested as much as they can during preseason so they can make adjustments for the regular season. It will also help determine positions that need to be filled or replaced. CrypticVillain
I am loving this schedule. Espically the dress reherasal game versus the Pats. I hope we can some revenge from the last two times we played them. 52-7 and 42-0(I think)
PCS
I'd say if anyone knows how fast news ends up on E.S. it would be Om. I'd say that this is fine where it's at thank you very much. Carry on with comments about the rif. * Besides,if the board can support a few dozen Campbell/Colt/Haynesworth/draft___/sign___ threads,it can support a couple about the preseason schedule.,( though I do recognize the difference in the two present threads about it). Om
All kidding aside ... I do like the Redskins practice in recent years of scheduling nothing but slugfests. I know part if it's geographic; Baltimore and Pittsburgh don't require flying and it just makes sense to stay local. Those cities just happen to have tough teams these days. I do like that we seem to schedule tough opponents in the non-local games, too. Might as well jump into the new season with both feet and see what you got. Om
Thanks, PCS. Realized after the fact I might have created a "thing" you'd have to deal with.
nightbird
This is good. When the Pats took us apart in the 2006 preseason, it really was a harbinger of things to come. They exposed how easy it was to beat our defense. Plus, these three teams will all HIT you, so if we have some rookies and UFA's who want to prove they belong, here's their chance to man up and show something. Mark The Homer
I wonder why they have the dates and times locked down for the first and third games, but not the second and fourth. The NFL is a very mysterious place sometimes....
Dick Edds
we'll see if Jansen can live up to his words in pre-season about being the starting RT... we need to see what we have against REAL contenders, and this is the best way. At least maybe it will limit the expectations a little, and maybe just maybe we will be pleasantly surprised at the end of the next season. All wishful thinking I know. Stophovr6
So to summarize: "Let's hope Colt comes out in the second half and lights it up." 136 days and counting.
BillyKilmer
Seems like we have played the Steelers forever in the preseason. This will be a good measuring stick to find out where the team is.
Veretax
I agree 1-3 is easily doable, 2-2 is going to be tricky. Let's just hope Jason doesn't get mashed by the Ravens in Pre-1.

Om
Funny thing about preseason ... I think the last thing I want is to go 4-0. Teams like the Lions and Cardinals and Browns always do that, then come out and start the year 2-8. Smacks of trying too hard in the 2nd half of games; leaving in the starters longer than the opponent, maybe gameplanning a bit more .... I've always felt the perfect preseason is 2-2 (w/ no serious injuries of course), with one impressive win, one WTF? loss and two "whatever" games. That way no one's too low, no one's too high, and the opposition on opening day has no effing idea what to expect out of you.
scuppajones
How come we have 3 road pre-season games and the Steelers get 3 home games?
Stophovr6
How come we have 3 road pre-season games and the Steelers get 3 home games? Where are you seeing that? I see us playing Steelers and Pats at home. EDIT. HA! I get it now. 135 days.
Gibbs Hog Heaven
Perfect, perfect schedule for preseason. I really want the team to be tested as much as they can during preseason so they can make adjustments for the regular season. It will also help determine positions that need to be filled or replaced. Positives and negatives which ever way you look at it IBnG. I like the fact were being tested, as much as we can be in pre-season, against better teams that are physically dominant, at least in the first three games. But the downside of that is we could well go 1-3, or worse, being we'll have little to no interest in the Jags game; and although pre-season matters little in the great scheme of things, taking low confidence and no momentum over into the regular season can. I sure hope we take New England's usual professional approach into pre-season and at the very least compete and get a few W's. Hail.
Skinsfor4
A very physical bunch for our guys to face.Heres to 4-0 and a healthy preseason. Hail....
Rhodus333
Om, looks like were on the same page regarding preseason. Kinda sad that I'm actually ALOT more excited to see what Brennan can do than watch our first team stumble along though. . . . Hey maybe we can use that strategy into the regular season? Have Campbell play the first half and then bring in Brennan in the second to win the game for us! And then when people want get rid of Campbell completley and have Colt start the whole game, there can be a big ES debate about how Campbell does his job perfectly and doesn't lose the half for us as long as Portis, the O line and the defense step up. Besides, Brennan's never even played in a FIRST half, and second half defenses totally inflate stats, which automatically means he's not qualified and would be terrible....... Man. . . I don't even know who I'm making fun of anymore haha. Too much red bull. . .
pastha40
Funny thing about preseason ... I think the last thing I want is to go 4-0. Super Bowl XXXVIII Pats vs Carolina...both teams went undefeated in the preseason. So it can have its advantages... :logo:
