ESPN Insider suggesting the 'Skins will target.....

a QB?!?!?!?

They don't quote any named or unnamed sources, so I think this is just speculation on ESPN's part, which disappoints me. I don't want a QB, but I understand the concern of having one if Campbell doesn't do well this year. Despite all the posts on this board, Brennan is going to be a career backup. I would rather the team build up its trenches with youth and give Campbell a solid last chance before planning for his demise.

Skins targeting Sanchez at No. 13?

Although needs along the offensive and defensive lines are more prevalent for the team this offseason, it's beginning to look like the Washington Redskins could be ready to invest the No. 13 pick in the NFL draft on Mark Sanchez. During the initial few days of McJaygate, Redskins coach Jim Zorn indicated that the team did not have interest in trading for Jay Cutler, and Vinny Cerrato, the team's executive vice president of football operations, echoed that sentiment, telling the Washington Times that "Jason [Campbell] is going to be our quarterback this season."

But it's important to note the final two words in that statement. The Redskins may want to give Campbell one more chance this season while at the same time setting themselves up with his replacement in Sanchez. According to Pro Football Weekly, the team has put the USC quarterback through a private workout already, and is now in the process of performing due diligence.

While it would certainly make sense to draft a talented successor in Sanchez, the Skins might be in a tough spot if Andre Smith or Michael Oher are still on the board. Either man would be a major upgrade for the team at left tackle; alternatively, veteran Jon Jansen could slide to left tackle and Smith or Oher could dominate from the right side of the line. One player who probably hopes the team elects to boost the offensive line in the draft is Clinton Portis. Although Portis finished 2008 as the league's fourth-leading rusher with 1,487 yards, it took him 342 carries to get there. The 4.3 average yards per carry is in line with what he's produced as a member of the Redskins, but a far cry from the 5.5 yards per carry he averaged in his two seasons with the Denver Broncos.

Ok, first of all, WTF?

Secondly,

"alternatively, veteran Jon Jansen could slide to left tackle and Smith or Oher could dominate from the right side of the line."

WTF!?!?!??!?!?!??!?!?

Did ESPN outsource their unsourced "reporting" to Bangalore?

Okay, this is not true remotely. The Redskins worked him out in Cali when they were out there probably just to see what he could offer, but they will NOT seriously consider him. If they draft him I'll poo in the middle of the field on Draft Day.

I feel sorry for Jansen because after all of the injuries he just isn't the same dominant player he once was. Now, I consider him more of a liability in pass defense. At any rate, the ESPN article is about 50% correct.

However, I don't see how you can just claim Colt a backup without ever playing a single snap. Who's to say that Sanchez is any better? We have all seen 6th and 7th round picks become super stars, and first round picks, cough Heath Shuler, become colossal busts.

Terrible reporting. At first, I thought this:

"Either man would be a major upgrade for the team at left tackle"

Might have been a typo. But then it goes on to say they'd move Jansen to LT and allow Oher or Smith to dominate at RT.

Terrible journalism. It's not difficult to see Chris Samuels on the roster and find out he's a Pro Bowler.

If they draft him I'll poo in the field too. We can start a giant poo pile, cause I'm sure a lot of people will have similar reactions.

I think they think this because..1. Jason Campbell isn't the top QB (yet)

2. We had a workout whit him. 3. Dan-Vinny aren't sold on Jason, that's why the Cutler rumor started.

It makes sence that they think that....but I am not saying that it is treu what they are saying.

Do ya get me :P

It's so sad that these writers don't even bother to do research before writing these articles. Oher/Smith for left tackle??? Does he know that we have Samuels there? Slide Jansen to left tackle? Only reason Jansen is even on the team is because his contract prohibits us from releasing him. Who gives these ppl jobs writing articles and who edits them anyways?

Man I really hope that this is a smoke screen to get someone like Detroit to trade up with us.

I hope so also. If none of the top tackles are available, I really want us to trade back and get more picks. We have a lot of holes that need to be filled in the trenches.

Well, the author is marginally correct in that we need to try to draft a future replacement for Samuels. However the rest of the article is so far off base that I was literally left shaking my head. If the validity of the rest of the article is any indication, the one player we're NOT interested in is Sanchez.

You mean someone actually got paid to write this? :wtf: If this is the type of "insider" information they're peddling, I can't believe they actually can ask for a subscription fee with a straight face. :ols:

As already mentioned this writer lost all credibilty after his comments regarding the OL. I could understand Oher or Smith replacing Samuels at LT down the road or if a serious injury occured but opening day Samuels is going to be our starter and I would expect that to continue the next few years. Jansen at LT? I'd rather throw Geisinger back out there (exageration).

Slide Jansen to Left Tackle...we see how credible this source is...doesn't even realize that Samuels is way better than Jansen....Ridiculous

Very true. Saying that Oher or Smith would be a major upgrade to Samuels is ridiculous as well, though they would be major upgrades for the Oline in general. These tidbits sound like I probably would when talking about what the Miami Dolphins will do with their picks. I don't know, and I don't care just like ESPN.

Ok. Come on people. Admit it.

Which ExtremeSkins poster wrote this unmitigated piece of garbage?

I can't think of a poster crazy enough to write that. Maybe that Bucs fan, but he'd be joking.
