brandymac27
OMG! That grammar in that email was hilarious. Aside from that, this really cracked me up: An FBI Identification Record and Diplomatic Immunity Seal Of Transfer (DIST) often referred to as a Criminal History Record or Rap Sheet, is a listing of certain information taken from fingerprint submissions retained by the FBI in connection with arrests and, in some instances, federal employment, naturalization, or military service. Who goes to the FBI and says, " I need a copy of my rap sheet"? LOL But yeah, I've gotten emails similar to this in the past. I always just delete them. Forehead
Just looks like the typical send me your info scam... Don't quote that much text for a one line response man. LJS, this is the same e-mail I referenced earlier in the thread. I think it's hilarious personally.
brandymac27
Screw all that, take it to a check cashing place and find out if its real or fake. Offer a guy off the street $100.00 to cash it for you I'm not cashing the check. First of all, it's illegal, and second, I feel bad enough for that lady at Erosion Pros as it is. I couldn't live with the guilt.

DCranon21
OMG! Thanks for telling me. I have to definitely watch this!Wait, I checked the channel guide and it says the show is something about the financial fiasco. Did they specifically say they would be talking about this scam? It's a scam like it, that uses an actual check with a legal routing and account number. I'm going to check it out myself.
RedskinFeathers
Ok, I got this in my email today....I've read it a few times, but still a lil confusing. I know it's not real, but weird none the less. ANyone think I should forward it on to authorities? Seems like millions of these emails are sent daily, so does anyone really take them serious? Never, but they kinda creep me out. I also get those ones telling me that a person with my last name has died and I'm their only living relative and they've left me like $4545903098 ...it's weird. Too bad they're not real.

ACW
You wouldn't believe the volume of information that is widely available to people willing to pay for it. With the access I have to Westlaw, with only your name, in a half hour or less I could tell you things like:Your current address and ph# Previous addresses going back 10 years or so the first 5 digits of your ssn make/model/year/vin# of every car you own or have owned recently, and how much you paid for those cars your birth month/year whether or not you're married, and your spouse's name how much you paid for your house, who owns your mortgage, how much tax you paid on it last year, etc. your complete arrest record, including plea deals and time served That's without even trying, and using only legal methods (not that it's legal for me to look into anyone for any reason whatsoever, but not stealing info or buying it from someone who stole it). I know PI's who will get your cell phone number, every bank account you have and how much is in the account to the penny. I don't know how they do it, and I don't want to know, but they can. That's maddening. Unless there's a warrant, that should be illegal. I damn well didn't OK that info to be released
stevenaa
That's maddening. Unless there's a warrant, that should be illegal. I damn well didn't OK that info to be released  Stupid freedom of information. Sit at a boat dock in TX, and probably any state, with a laptop and wireless. Note the registration numbers of the boats putting in. Look up the info and you can find name, address, Lien holder, lien amount and other should be personal info. And you know the man of the house will be away for many hours.
Bliz
That's maddening. Unless there's a warrant, that should be illegal. I damn well didn't OK that info to be released  Well, technically before accessing the information you are required to affirm that you are using it for a permissible use, such as a legal proceeding, , official government use, skip tracing, etc. Of course, affirmation means picking something from a drop down box and clicking. Not exactly a high tech security. About like affirming that you read all of the terms and conditions on the software you just installed. I'm sure there are other channels that have this info also, Westlaw is just what I have access to as part of the practice. And I will say that I "considered" using the search without a technically permissible use only once, after a friend received a threatening email on myspace. She notified the police but she wasn't sure how serious it was while she was waiting for them to look into it. She was able to search around other sites for the same username and ultimately got to the guy's name. It turns out he lived within 10 miles of her, and was a registered sex offender on probation, with priors for aggravated assault and child molestation. WVUforREDSKINS
i would cash it (at checks cashed) and spend the money. What could possibly happen? I haven't read through the last few pages so someone let me know if this has been found out to be a scam or not.
