Boss_Hogg
http://www.wwe.com/superstars/halloffame/andrethegiant/bio/ "Though the company would change dramatically, Andre would remain with the McMahon family for the next 20 years; he was even offered a contract by the NFL’s Washington Redskins in 1974, but turned it down to stay in the ring." I'm sure some of the older fans may know more about this than I do.

SonOfWashington
I read about this in the Redskins Encyclopedia. There's a picture of him with Joe Theismann in there. Apparently he declined a contract worth about $100K.

TheREALJBird
Yea I heard about that, for special teams purposes. Probably would have worked too. At the very least he would have commanded some double/triple teams to free other guys up, or so I would think.

Dark Acre
Big John Studd lived in Springfield, Va -- he and Andre would really make life difficult for FG kickers (6-11 and 7-4) Andre wouldn't have much other utility as he was pretty stiff. IIRC, BJS actually had some athleticism. If he could have played TE, wow.
Jimbo
The talk was not only about Special Teams but also putting Andre in at DT in goalline situations. It was really more of a publicity stunt than anything else.

SonOfWashington
Hey, he couldn't have been a bigger NFL Bust than Brock Lesnar. Good God, what a disaster that ordeal was. I remember watching his last match at WrestleMania XX against Goldberg (also his last match in WWE). The crowd kept chanting "you sold out," and the match was the worst in WM history IMO. Rocky21
Seriously how cool would that have been? I would have loved to see him pick up two Giants and bang their heads together. HTTR!
LandoverLex
Could you imagine. Dwayne Johnson as our speed rusher. Big Show,Khali and Andre as the tackles. Goldberg at the other end. Hawk and Animal as the linebackers. HBK and Jericho as shut down corners. Randy Orton at free safety and The Hitman at strong safety. We would be unstoppable!!!
