derekc4
Not too many threads are interested in trading up and generally it is a risky move unless your scouting department is top notch. But let's say Orakpo makes it past the Browns and the Jags are on the clock at 8. We've shown a lot of interest in Orakpo, do we throw in our 3rd rounder (draft value chart shows this is pretty even) and get the player we covet? This thread is both a would you/would Vinny thread, so you can respond however you choose to. Personally I wouldn't trade up for him, but if Heyer has shown enough where he can run and pass block, then Vinny will think it's worth it to get the best overall (pass and run) DE in the draft. What do you all think?
HRNY4ZRNY
The answer is no. Not worth two picks. We need depth. It would be great to have him. We need OT, DE, LB. If we did that we would address DE and thats it. We need our 3rd to get one of the other two positions. My Fantasy Scenario- Dont know how we would pull this off but get Orakpo and Maualuga. It would be incredible. If Orakpo falls we take him at 13, then we trade up to get Maualuga. We would have a make shift Offensiveline this year and hope we score pts of D. Wyndorf25
With only 4 picks and some pretty big holes to fill, trading up just is not the smart move, IMO. I would love to have Orakpo but unless he falls to 13, he is going to be playing in another uniform. There are too many other guys that could be as productive and help this team without having to continue to mortgage the future in order to take a chance on Orakpo. Big Mac Patty Wack
The answer is no. Not worth two picks. We need depth. It would be great to have him. We need OT, DE, LB. It would be incredible. The thing is that at #13, the talent starts to drop off. If we get any of the Big 4 OTs we would be lucky, Orakpo won't be there, so the very top guys are gone. The rest of the first rounders are a little risky in my opinion to be drafting that high with the exception of the USC linebackers. I would trade up if it only costs our third rounder. With the 13th pick and the 3rd rounder, we would be getting a player who most likely will be a starter and a guy who more than likely will be a mediocre contributor. If we got Orakpo, he's no sure bet at all, but I think someone of his caliber would have the potential to contribute more than the other two picks we have right now combined. As for what Vinny will do, we all know Snyderatto gets what it wants. A third rounder is a good pick, but I wouldn't mind giving it up for a beast like Orakpo. That being said, i definitely see the other side of the argument.
Zhouse
I'm sure Vinny would love to do that....and honestly I can't blame him. Our D line would be pretty good on paper with Orakpo & AH. But I just don't see how he can pull this off. It would be pretty tough because then we're sitting and waiting until round 5 to pick again......Wow watching the draft is gonna suck this year!!!! NavyDave
Nope next year is the time to have draft pick especially if we are in the playoffs and its a Cap free year.
Gibbsisgod2006
I really think that we should trade down because at 13 their will be nothing their worth taking at 13. Brian Orakpo will be heading to either Seattle or KC. I really think that if Det takes Jason Smith with the 1 pick. I think their will be a good possibly that Det will trade up to take Sanchez at 13. Maybe swap picks and get both 3rd and pick up Eben Britton.
Dark Acre
Why don't we wait until his rookie K. expires and if he's worth it, we'll outbid everybody else.
IbleedBnG83
The Jags traded up to get Derrick Harvey last year. How did that work out for them? Not saying he is a bust yet, but I am saying its not worth it. We have too many needs.
#98QBKiller
I don't think we should trade up at all, but if we were going to do it I think Aaron Curry is the only player worth it for us. I like Orakpo but there are simply no questions about Curry at all.
texasthunder
Not this year. We have to hope that Oher is our pick at #13, or that we can trade down. Now maybe next year, if Jason doesnt show anything in his final year, then maybe we should concider trading up for a QB. But that for a later discussion. Hail-to-da-skins-21
bottom line we have to trade down we dont have anything to give to trade up with and we have to many holes to fill IMO I hope we can trade down to like 20th pick and get aaron maybin then draft a RT or RG with a second rd pick that we would hopefully get in the trade then draft the best DE or OLB available with our third
gobigred
We will draft an OL. That is the position that needs to be filled. The Defense was good last year with Albert they will be better. We lost most of our games by the poor offense, the Ol will be the focus.
aqq
trade up?? with 5 picks in the draft?? yea lets trade up ruin our 2010 draft too for a guy who is rated slightly higher than other DE in the draft...if anything we trade down
The Rook
Would I? No. Would Vinny? You Bet. Except it will be for our #13 and next year's 1st. Watch out for this one and be very afraid. :helmet: The Rook

rd421
While I would LOVE to pick up Orakpo at 13 I don't think he is worth trading up(most likely with future pics) to get
DGREENHULK
If any of the Big 4 RT are still there at 13 thats the pick..if not Vinny will take a look at Maybin or if any of the 3 USC LB's are still on the board...my guess is that he will try to find a trading partner and move back in the draft if our RT is already gone. LD0506
You know what's going to be amusing? In a couple years there will be people foaming at the mouth, gnashing teeth and tearing hair with posts like "OMFG why did we have to trade down in '09? The FO is a bunch of morons! We could have had ___________ and been set for years but no, that &%^#$!#@ Vinnie traded down for more picks!"
wilco_holland
Aaaah no. To many holes on the team and a to big chance that he is going to be a bust. And Vinny ones drafted a DE early (SF49ers time), that pick worked out horrible...so he is not going to do it. But yea, Dan and Vinny already surprice me a lot of times....so it could happen, I gess. NoVaSkins21
I don't think Orakpo drops out of the top 10, but it's possible and it would be great if the Skins were in position to get him, but I highly doubt that Vinny goes DL with a 1st rounder. flexxskins
Nope next year is the time to have draft pick especially if we are in the playoffs and its a Cap free year.:applause:Very good point.Plus, we need an OT more than we need a DE. It's just that simple. Unless of course Orakpo falls to #13.
boofMcboof
Why trade up for Orakpo when trading back and picking up Connor Barwin, a similar type player, and an additional OL is a better play? By the way Barwin ran a flat 4.5 on his pro day.
