What Big Al does to our draft strategy....

It's feeling like stud RT or Guard, isn't it? I could also see us taking a LB. But keep in mind, I'm not much of a draft guy, so I don't really know who is projected to be available when we pick and if they're worth taking that high, etc.

I also wouldn't rule out trading down for 2 2nd round selections like we did last year, and getting both Oline and LB help

If Orakpo is there at #13 we have to get him. He can play OLB and DE so he can be very useful for this team. If he isn't there, we should trade back and pick up a few more picks and build up the o-line. The defense should be good enough for this year, the only spot we need to fill on defense is OLB. Our o-line should be the top priority for now

I think that we need to draft the BEST ol,de, or linebacker at the 13th pick....dont worry about any position draft the best player from the ol, de or linebacker, you cant really go wrong with anyone from that position

What do you guys think?

We're not going to have money to sign a first round pick. Sorry.

Orakpo, DE from Texas, has been going in some recent mocks in the top 5. I don't see him lasting until #13.

I think it'll stay with hoping that you can trade down and acquire more picks, but more likely hoping Oher falls to 13, or taking an OLB like Cushing (or guys changing to OLB like Maualuga, Maybin, etc.).

If we get Dockery, who would address our OL problem a bit, just keep loading this defense up because our offense already has weapons to hurt anyone and if Davis, Kelly and Thomas emerge this season we'll have even more.

It would be great to have the strongest D in the league which is where we are heading and by adding Orakpo, it would be another great addition. He would be a nice fit for us aswell due to him being able to cover both OLB and DE which would remove some worries.

Mayock has him as second best OLB in the draft, you can't argue with that.

I doubt we can afford the 13th pick now. May have no choice but to trade down. Made too much sense to pick up a starting right tackle with the 13th pick anyway. Leave those smart decisions to the good teams.

i agree with the first part, I don't think we can afford to pay anyone picked at 13 this year. However, I have more faith in our scouting department after the restructure last year.

Id kinda like a top tier LB like Rey or Okapor or whatever the Texas kids name is. With Haynes and Monty tying up the middle three of their o-line, carter and taylor working the outside guys one on one, a blitzing linebacker would be almost free to the Qube. If any of those guys are anywhere near the level of a Ware or Merriman or Harrison our D would really be unbelievable, like it could win games for us like the Bucs years ago, Ravens and Steelers do.
