Homosexuality Discussion Continued..

I have mixed feelings on porn. On the one hand, it is usually displays intercouse devoid of love/affection, and the actors/actresses are often exploited, in some fashion. Many come from broken homes, etc. and its the only work they can find. I think many have problems with finding fufilling relationships down the road. Irregardless of how much money they make, would you want your sister/daughter/brother/son doing that? Yeah, me neither.

On the other hand, it help individuals who are uncomfortable with their own anatomy and that of their spouse lose their inhibitions. Particulary if you come from a culture in which that stuff is repressed or embarrassing. What men and in particulary women find pleasureful has often been a subject that just isn't discussed.

I never got addicted, but at one point I just decided I had pretty much seen everything there is to see. (Well maybe not everything, on the other hand theres some stuff I just don't want to see ) I also never bought any porn, just d/l'd the free stuff.

Condemn away.

I'm not condemning anybody. I'm saying what Jesus said about sexual immorality: (which includes adultery, homosexuality, lust (which is porn), fornication etc.)
16"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
God sent his son as a sacrifice to wash away sins.
17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
God didn't send His son to condemn the world, it is already condemned since the Fall. God sent Jesus to save men.
19 And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. 20 For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. 21But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God."
We (in general, not just DC_Saints)often rationalize and justify behavior and beliefs by saying they are just not wrong or whatever. But in reality we just don't want to give them up or we don't want to face the fact that we are doing things that are wrong or evil after all.

We know that were we to come to God and ask for forgiveness our sins would be dragged into the light and be exposed for just what they are: sin.

We don't want to face that. For many its to painful and our pride won't let us. Many of you won't come to God because you have proud hearts. But God opposes the proud and receives the broken hearted in grace.

He gives them a new heart, one that hates sin and is repentant and sorrows over it, but only after you have confessed it all and come before him broken. Only then can you receive forgiveness of sins.

Maybe you've been living your life however you please and you are sensing a call in your heart to turn to God. Or maybe you are a Christian who has fallen away or never totally given yourself to God and are hanging onto something that is sin. Throw it down and come today and ask God "Lord, what will you have me to do?"

I tried that before, and didn't get any response. At the time, perhaps I thought that since religion wasn't part of the solution, it was part of the problem. so I gave it up. In reality, its probably neither. I'm more of a Kierkegaard(although, I never got around to actually reading him ;)) cultural Catholic than anything, with a bit more of a liberal bent than before. Not much self-righteousness left, not much superstition left, and the whole punishment/reward thing doesn't really do it for me.

Mostly I find porn funny, although sometimes i have sort of replaced images of the actresses with women I wanted to be with. So I guess it did sort or arouse feelings of lust, however you want to put that - I don't think that all sexual thoughts qualify as lust. I imagined something "better than porn". I couldn't imagine just hooking up with a chick and then kicking her out of bed. I'd want to please the woman I was with. I'd want to cuddle aftewards. In certain circumstances, I was almost glad these girls that I fell for and never told (at least one of which, was probably intersted in me) found someone else later on. Given how good I've been (check my post history), its really hard to feel that much guilt over something like watching one of the few porn scenes I've d/l'd over the years and still have on my comp. I would never (and haven't) buy any more, but its mostly because what I have is enough.

This is where we disagree....I talk to God every day. I pray that I follow his word, that I do right in God's eyes. I do not interpret the bible the same way as you do, or others do. Hell methodists and catholics don't even interpret it the same.

Even you Zguy are a daily sinner, no better or worse than I am. God loves me, loves you and even loves those who don't believe or don't repent....imo

This is not a discussion about homosexuality, it's a discussion about religion based morals.

Man made rules used to control. It's a shame you guys have jacked this thread.

Yeah I think that's my fault for being the 1st to quote scripture in here. But that was 81's grounds for hating homosexuality so I thought it fit. It kinda went from there :(

Way to go G.....I was almost hoping it would be a "ask the lesbian" thread...:silly::cheers:

That would be infinitely more interesting.

I'll start.

hmm.

Who do lesbians think is the best running back of all time?

I think it's Walter Payton, and it would be a pretty cool ice-breaker to say to someone ,"Well, Walter Payton is the best back in history, and 8 out of 10 lesbians agree with me."

Many of the people that supported Prop 8 did so on religious grounds. How exactly did you expect this to go? (Now that I actually know what the topic is :silly:)

Besides, I largely agree with Destino that there's entirely too much focus on gays, so I thought it was kind of cool that most of this thread is about adultery. :)

Remembering once hearing a standup routine from some comic with a British accent. He was Satan, welcoming the new arrivals to Hell.

One of the first things he mentions is that as some of you may have noticed, there are no restrooms, here, so he hopes you all went before you came, or you're just going to have to hold it.

He then asked the new arrivals to sort themselves out according to exactly what it was that caused them to be here. Could the murderers please stand over there? And the Adulturers . . . My, there are an awful lot of you. Now, anyone who ever saw Monty Python's Life of Brian. No, I'm sorry, he doesn't have a sense of humor.

I think there is entirely to much focus on the gays (and minorities in general) as well.

I was just hoping for a discussion on homosexuality, being that I just moved back into the thick of the local gay town and am now the GM of a gay bar and restaurant. I even host a drag queen party once a month.

I'm in the thick of the gay right now. I'm even talking to my Dad about his dating history.

I have lots of questions. they just don't have to do with me.:)

I'm a Christian... Sin leads to death... Judgment is for God alone... Judging others is sin... That doesn't mean homosexual and heterosexual (out of wedlock) activities aren't sin and won't be judged by God. On the contrary, the Judeo-Christian tradition is quite explicit in these warnings. However, it would be a sin for me to judge others when I have my own sins to worry about.

This doesn't mean I feel people should "live and let live"... It means I feel I shouldn't "judge, lest I be judged."

Wasn't this Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean)? I think I heard him also organize "Christians stand over here"... then he proclaimed, "the Jews were right." I think this was Rowan. Am I right?

Well, okay, but despite the general thread title, that wasn't the point of this thread. Of course, if it did go that direction, it wouldn't be the first time a thread veered off topic, though it might be the first time a thread veered on topic, judging by the title. :)

you picked Walter Payton??? I have to stick w/ Riggins. I know, I'm biased...oh well...

LOL...great question...but in all seriousness, I can say that I've always been sort of a tomboy. When I came out my dad said he wasn't surprised one bit due to the way I always was as a kid. But I do recall looking toward older lesbians on how to act and all that stupid stuff we do when we are young and figuring out who we are. I had my "butch" stage so to speak in my very early 20's. But as I get older, I have embraced my "womanhood" much more. I wear makeup every day, do my hair, paint my toe nails...but I don't wear dresses. (dress suites and stuff to work). For me personally, it's about being comfortable in who I am.

They gay man thing and their feminity is interesting too. Had a guy friend in HS who, when he came out our Jr year, became so "nelly". it was really annoying. However, it was him just trying to fit into the gay community.

I have been to a coupel Prides', even once in San Fran. They are wild and outlandish, and I've never been one to be like that. Hell, you all know I'm more conservative anyway.

so all in all, I think it's just due to people trying to find who they are, a growing process.

On the subject of Gay Marriage though...

here is what kills me. Watching one of the MSNBC Lockup shows and one segment of a convicted murderer who is trying to marry a woman. They get approval and marry on the show. Well...you're going to tell me that it benefits society to let a convicted murder marry while he is in prison??? but me who is a law abiding citizen, works hard every day, pays my taxes (which can't be said for a few Politicians) and I can't.

I'm not big proponant of gay marriage personally I don't care as long as my partner can take care of me when I'm old, be on my health care and such...but come one..that is just really ridiculously unfair imo....and that one case is not isolated.

people want to focus on how bad gay people are, but they are more than willing to shell out millions of dollars to help women kill unborn babies, sit on their fat asses collecting welfare and having 16 damn kids, ...someone tell me how any of that makes any damn sense.

I agree. I think people spend way too much time worrying about wht is going on in someone else's bedroom.

I see absolutely no logical reason to prevent gay people from marrying. If the religious want to object to the word "marriage" then fine, compromise so they can keep their beliefs intact, and allow civil unions.

All they want to do is pursue happiness, something that is guaranteed to all of us,, except gays, it seems.

My friend Dave lives in Cali, and married his partner back over the summer, and I think it's great. (Aside from the fact they're both named "Dave".. that is kind of odd)

They're terrific people, hard working productive members of the community, they're stable, and the nicest neighbors you could hope for.

In fact, through them I've met and known plenty of gay people, and the way-out flamboyant club whore homo that scares everyone is very much the minority. Of them gays I've met and dealt with, the majority of them are no different than any other hard working stable person.

But people immediately conjure up images of gay sex when they hear about a homosexual, and that repulses them. And so they blame that repulsion on the gay person, even though the notion that offended them is something they imagined in their own head. They imagine the gay person is always sizing them up for sex,, which is pretty arrogant. You may as well imagine every woman you meet is doing the same thing. (Newsflash Romeo... they aren't)

One of these days we might be able to all treat each other as people. It really isn't that hard to do. All that is required is to recognize that they're people, and they have all the same hopes and dreams and desires for happiness that you do.
