IbleedBnG83
I know it has been discussed before but it appears as if Jason Brown will hit the free agency according to his agent... http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=3317 "The agent for G/C Jason Brown and ILB Bart Scott doesn't believe the Ravens will be able to sign both of his clients. Staying in Baltimore is the "No. 1 choice," but the chances of both players re-signing decreases dramatically once the start of free agency begins Friday. The Carroll County Times believes Scott is more likely to return than Brown." He is 25 and is a solid center who can play guard. I would love for the 'Skins to sign him as he could really help boost the OL immediately.
Ingtar
Brown is a huge center...340 lbs I believe. It would be pretty funny to replace our former Ravens FA with another Ravens FA.
jthor99
Solid center I believe isn't giving him enough credit. Unfortuatley, living in Ravens country (and all my friends being fans) I've had a chance to watch this guy play. He's certainly a very solid C, and he also can play guard in a pinch. Rumor is he wants Faneca money , which I don't believe is reasonable in our cap situation.

As pointed out by Rotoworld...seeing as how he doesn't even have any pro bowls under his belt, that will be difficult. He is living in a pipe dream if he thinks he will get that much. Gibbs Hog Heaven
ANY upgrade on the pitifully undersized Rabach would be more than welcome, and at around 340 lbs, Brown sure would be that upgrade. Been saying it all year, as important as the tackle and gaurd spots are, center is EQUALLY as important a need. Improve the the othe line positions all you want, and they sure do need upgrading, but as long as lil' Casey is collapsing the pocket from the inside out, your back to square one. We need to get younger and bigger right across the line, and center is as good a place to start as any. Hail.
MattFancy
I wouldn't mind seeing us sign Brown. There is no way we could afford to give him Faneca money, but for the right price I would be very happy to see him in B&G next year
The Full Monty
i still think of rabach's bone-headed penalties against the Cowboys. Had me pulling my hair out in that game.
Pounds
I'm in favor of any upgrade of the center position. Arguably, Casey's play is as much of an issue as Jansen's.

I here you, but if Derrick Dockery can get that type of $ as he did with Buffalo a couple of years ago then I don't see how it is so far fetched. But, I'm on board with you I don't see him getting that type of $ either. Haynesworth is going to show how much teams are willing (or not willing) to spend in this terrible economy
jivelikenice
He's the ideal FA signing for us given his age, versatily, and size.......His price tage may be too hefty but he would be a great addition to the team who can start off at guard and then move inside to center after a year or so.... I partially agree, but when you're the best at your position in FA and young, in a relatively weak overall FA class, you can demand a lot of money. Dockery was good for us, but not worth near what he got and he never made any pro-bowls either. It's all about hitting the market at the right time and anyone would likely prefer him over an older, aging Saturday. He won't come cheap, I'd love to have him but not at the likely cost of a bidding war.
D'Pablo
We absolutely should break the bank for this guy. Let me explain: 1. He is young. 2. He is a top 5 center in this league. 3. He has ideal size. 4. He is versatile. 5. His contract/signing bonus can be prorated over a long period of time because he is young.
SkinsMaster88
If we get him, I'd rather play him at LG. Brown started 31 games at LG for the Ravens. He was only moved to C last year.
Brandon Lloyd Christmas
it seems as though our FO has no interest in replacing rabach. seems like tackle and G are our primary concerns, and as much as id love to see this guy at his young age in a skins uniform for the next 6 years, doesnt look like our FO is going to make a move for this guy. Snagletooth
I don't think its critical to replace Rabach at this point, but I don't want to rely on Kendall another season. If he will play guard, for now, I think it would be a good signing. It might be at the cost of letting Hall go. Hall probably wants significantly more than Brown. Without cutting Taylor I don't think we could make more than one signing.

If we're going to spend some loot in FA, I would rather spend on this guy and not sell the farm to get Haynesworth. At his age he could be a fixture on the line for the next 6-7 years. The fact that he can play G is a bonus.
Never4get#21
He's versatile. He played primarily at LG. He moved to Center last year. His agent stated that he's going to "most likely" test the FA market. The Ravens cant afford to keep everyone (Scott,Suggs franchised,Lewis). I think he would make a solid LG to replace Kendall, and he's versatile enough to replace Rabach when needed. I would make a play for him and address one concern. I would still draft a RT(Monroe,Oher) at #13.
MCnDaHouse
I definitely think we should take a long look at him. A proven player versus a draft choice that may not pan out is better. MC
Dirk McGirk
LeCharles Bently would be cheap, anyone know why he is still without a job? few pro bowls, a minor knee injury but nothing terrible, pretty young.
SkinsMaster88
LeCharles Bently would be cheap, anyone know why he is still without a job? few pro bowls, a minor knee injury but nothing terrible, pretty young. Minor? The dude never played again after 2005. He tore his patella tendon and got a Staph infection in July 2006. After 4 operations, he never stepped on the football field until June 2008. He was cut by the Browns and announced his retirement. http://www.ohiomm.com/blogs/browns/2009/01/21/bentley-resurfaces/ "I'm not entertaining anything right now," Bentley said. "I've lived the NFL dream, better than 90 percent of the guys have ever lived it." As for playing again, Bentley said, "I play football every day, I've got three boys. That's what I'm doing now." He used to be a great player, but he's no longer an option.
