Heyward-Bay via trade back

Do we take Heyward-Bay if we can manage to trade back into the 20's. I know we need o and d-line more than anything and Idk if it is just my hometown bias of the guy but I have a really big feeling that he is going to be a great receiver in the NFL. He has the size of Fitzgerald and the speed of Santana. The terps did a terrible job of throwing him the ball. I know he has a lot to work on but who knows. If the Skins could get Raji at 13 then I'd prefer that. But if he's gone, we trade back and get a second rounder, and draft line in the second with Heyward-Bay in the 1st. It is still early and alot of what we will do depend on free agency...Just curious as to what ya'll thought about the possibility of taking him.

No. I wouldn't spend a first round pick on another receiver. You can have all the receivers in the world, but if you don't have a line to block, it's pointless in having all the receivers cause they won't get the ball.

I agree with you on that 100 percent..that is why i think my hometown bias is coming out of me..haha

Yea I went to UMCP and I know the talent that he has, but I just can't justify spending a 1st round pick on him when we have needs at OL, DL, and LB. He is not that unlike Devin Thomas in that he is very talented but lacks polish at this point.

As you wrote, they weren't able to get him the ball, and he didn't help them become a great team.

So why should I assume that he would be able to instantly learn our offense and put up big numbers catching the ball from Jason Campbell, who of course will not be running for his life all day?

We've cast our lot with the receivers we have.

Big people please.

I wouldn't want to draft him, but it sounds like you could be right about the fact that he may be a star. I went to VT and thought Eddie Royal was a beast, but we really never had anyone to throw him the ball. Look at how he did last year in Denver when given a chance. So I could see DH-B doing the same thing.

I have a feeling we will see about 20 similar threads by the end of April.

Heyward-Bay is good, but he is not what we need at this point. I am not as certain as a lot of you that he is going to be a star either. I have a feeling that if he played for Nebraska, not many people here would be mentioning him.

I clearly stated that i was curious as to what other people thought about it. No need for negativity..hater

...If you ask for other thoughts, then don't moan when you get negative feedback.....the thought of drafting a WR in the 1st round is a TERRIBLE idea - whether it's theoretical or not....

He has the height of Fitzgerald, but he doesn't have the bulk, balance, or hands that Fitz has.

I don't blame you, I'm biased for DHB too. But after last year's draft, we can not draft a WR at all, unless a very very good WR drops so outrageously, at which point we'd just be going BPA.
