Oh that's right, they were busy writing me 2 page letters trying to explain why they thought Bush was right. Sorry twa but the only reason they are in opposition is because its Obama and not McCain in the White House and that is not doing what's best for our country unless you believe partisan hackery and obstructionism is best for our country. The Dems love to spend money on crap. While I am all for economic recovery, this bill is mostly crap. If it fails Obama will look like an idiot, for jumping the gun. As a conservative, I hope everything works out and he becomes one of the greatest leaders in our history. I will be praying for him. The only one's opposing it with any kind of force were a handful of Congressmen, McConnell was leading his party in the Senate in lockstep, and I have the two page letter to prove it. I checked through my stuff, the letter must have gotten tossed. I got a letter of concern from Senator Bunning and one from Congressman Ben Chandler both single page, McConnell's was two full pages trying to nuance why he was supporting the bailout it stood in stark contrast to the other two I received, or any that I have received from him in the past. This is the wrong time to be spending out baby boomer backup money. We will be hitting the beginnings of the 2012 to 2017 inability to pay for them. now that we will be 5 tillion in debt when its all said and done with 10% interest rates. good luck to those over 60. So you're saying we HAVE to spend trillions of dollars we don't have to get out of a mess that has fixed itself for 200 years? And were basing this on history mixed with a World war the destroyed 4 countries to the point they had to buy American products... So your saying we have to attack Iran and Saudi Arabia if we want this to work out exactly the same... and have a baby revolution to make sure we can take care of the 30 somethings... Do you realize how stupid it sounds to say we HAVE to spend 4x the amount on the solution than the problem? AsburySkinsFan Posted February 8, 2009 Share Posted February 8, 2009 The thing is Thiebear that in the 30's the war brought us out of the depression but only because we used deficit spending, the difference now from then is that before the war there wasn't a standing army as such the deficit spending went to military build up, putting tons of people to work in factories and in the military, only after the war the army stayed and so now there is no army to build to create jobs, as such the deficit spending needs to be spent somewhere else. AND AGAIN: We should have just created Universal healthcare and it would have fixed quite a bit for what we figured would be the cost over 3 years....
