deejaydana
It's a sad day for America. We may not see the negative impact immediately, but take it to the bank, it will end bad for us. Inflation is all but inevitable and with it a lowered standard of living for all.
IHOPSkins
UPDATE: Obama Stimulus Will Hurt the Economy The CBO says that the Obama/Reid/Pelosi Debt Plan will actually do more long-term harm to the economy than if government did nothing, http://www.freedomworks.org/blog/nswift/cbo-obama-stimulus-will-hurt-the-economy
ccsl2
The sooner the rest of my fellow conservatives realize that reaching compromise for the good of the country doesn't equate to traitorism, the better. Excellent post HH
81artmonk
This is what I don't understand. The govt created this mess, and thinks it's the solution. Why not let those in the proccess of failing to fail. Everyone in the govt thinks that if allowed to fail, no one is waiting behind them to take over where others have failed. I also don't get why our govt doesn't study history. This approach has NEVER worked. Why will it now. We need to be patient and just ride out the adversity and let things correct themselves as they always have in the past. I get the distinct impression that Obama has no clue what he is doing! thus why he is letting congress make up this bill. Sorry regardless of what party you belong to this has EPIC FAIL written all over it!!
The Brave Little Toaster Oven
What would happen if we let some things fail? Why do we HAVE to give them money?
ccsl2
Saying let people fail when they lose their jobs and homes is real easy to say when you have a house and a job. Especially when you lost your job and/or home through no fault of your own. :2cents:

Toe Jam
Good. Not cue the "bad"'s. And then the "good"'s again. Whatever, I hope it works. I mean I just deliver pizzas part-time and this **** has still hit me hard. My pay (based on tips) is down 40-60% on any given night. I'm literally struggling to pay for anything. I realize a lot of it won't actually do anything for years to come but just a repair of our confidence can get people feeling better about buying a pizza for dinner and giving me more than a dollar bill for my tip. I always tip the pizza guy four bucks. Pizza girls get five.
jnhay
Sounds like they're just trying to appease the few Republicans that will be scared to vote against the bill. They say they "fixed the bill", but that's probably just to pressure people into voting for it. I still think it's stupid to rush a bill that spends 800 billion. ccsl2
Which is why job creation (infrastructure/manufacturing/energy)and helping keep people in their homes should be the focus...instead of all that bs But that is the focus. DixieFlatline
But that is the focus. It isnt like the bill is 100% bs. You're right it's not 100% bs, but there's a ton of stuff that doesn't make sense as per a stimulus bill. A lot of people are taking advantage of a crisis to pay for some of their pet projects. They should strip that stuff out and have separate votes on it.

AsburySkinsFan
I just love how all these Republicans in Washington are now economic conservatives, seems there was a mass conversion right around January 20th.....hmmm, wonder what happened on that day....bunch of partisan hacks; spend through the roof while their boy is in the White House, and when the other party takes over everything they do an about face over night. I wonder if they ever looked up the definition of hypocrisy. On another note I will anxiously be awaiting my letter from my dear Senator Mitch McConnell who is required by law to have his office respond to me in writing about why he thinks he should be a partisan hack and obstructionist. Sorry, Mitch but when the books are written on this your name will be at the top of the list of those who resisted the actions that pulled our nation out of this economic crisis. I hope you enjoy leading the Senate party of continued irrelevancy and marginalization.
AsburySkinsFan
Cut the tax cuts to those that pay no income tax maybe?? LOL, because cutting taxes to the rich has helped so much. Trickle down econ is broken because the rain never makes it to those who will spend it what we need is a plumber to clear the blockage in the filter...hey where is Joe these days? Maybe when he's done leading the GOP he can do the job he may actually be good at.

You need to re-read the books, I saw plenty of opposition to the previous b.s. package that was passed. The Dems love to spend money on crap. While I am all for economic recovery, this bill is mostly crap. If it fails Obama will look like an idiot, for jumping the gun. As a conservative, I hope everything works out and he becomes one of the greatest leaders in our history. I will be praying for him.
