str8jacket
Id love to see Russ Grimm win one. And being in Arizona it is actually nice to see the state get behind their team and get a fanbase and a real team going. I have a friend at work that i talked to tonight he went to Chicago Cardinals games when he was a kid and he actually took the day off to watch them so im happy for him and the people that really were true fans of the cardinals all along. CM916
Call me a traitor but I bought a Cardinals NFC Champs shirt at a Tampa area walmart the other day, it was cheap and it was an answer to my father's multiple Steelers shirts. Keeping in mind that he has had Redskins tickets for over 20 years and it's his fault I love our lousy team. My brother in law is a big Steelers fan and I do like watching them and wish Ryan Clark the best but if the Steelers win this, they are the best team ever in modern times while the Cards have hardly come close to greatness since 1947. I have also watched the occasional Cardinals game over the last few years and I have been calling for them to make some noise for the last three. Now I'm right so I'm behind them all the way. There is also the matter of Arenaball's Revenge being carried out by AFL great Kurt Warner. Dallas, Denver and NO took care of themselves but Kurt got to personally take out Arthur Blank and Bon Jovi/Jaws on behalf of the thousands of disgruntled AFL fans who blame the NFL ownership for cancelling the season. It was never about money before Jerry Jones and John Elway came to town.
Shilsu
how good would, say, the Redskins' record have been this past season if they'd have played SIX GAMES against the likes of the 49ers, Rams, and Seahawks?! Possibly 2-4?
CM916
Seeing some more of the arguments here, what was great about any team in the NFC playoffs this year? The only team you have a shot at convincing me might have defeated the Cards was the Giants and they lost to the Eagles who incidentally couldn't do enough to beat the Cards themselves. No one thought the Giants were the best last year, far from it but they figured things out at the perfect moment and the Cards did the same. There was a time when the Skins had hardly won a thing in decades too. As for the NFC West, we managed to beat the Cardinals and the Seahawks just barely while we lost to the Rams and 49ers, so Shilsu may be right. We certainly wouldn't have gone 6-0 against them like the Cards did.
SkinsFTW
Possibly 2-4? Seriously, they lost to 2 of them and could have easily lost the Seattle game.
SkinsFTW
It's just if the Cardinals win a Superbowl... I mean how is that even possible? That would be like the Saints winning a Superbowl! The Cubs winning the World Series! The Eagles winning a Superbowl! There are just certain things decreed never to happen. Its no different than when the Rams won, or when the former Browns (Ravens) won the following year, and then the Pats winning 3 of 4. It's been like that lately. If Seattle didn't get reffed it might be all the SB winners lately. Even the Colts were pathetic for 20+ years. Damn, the Redskins are almost one of those teams. We've been garbage for over 15 years now.
Temple
Seriously, they lost to 2 of them and could have easily lost the Seattle game. Yes, the Redskins lost to the Rams and the 49ers...each on last second drives and by one score or less. And if you recall the Rams game, there was a particularly flukey play where Pete Kendall re-fumbled the ball to the Rams and gave them a free touchdown--minus that abberation of a play, the Skins would have won the game. The point of my even invoking the unholy triumverate of the 49ers/Rams/Seahawks still stands: the Cardinals play in the WORST division in football. And I ain't impressed by 9-7. Now I'm right so I'm behind them all the way. They seem to be the dark-horse in preseason every year for at least the last decade, all the way back to when Jake "The Snake" first came in the league. I suppose the stars had to align for them eventually. I'm still not impressed with them backing into the playoffs the way they did, etc.

bubba9497
I'd like to see Grimm get another ring, so I guess you can say I'm rooting for the Cards, but I think the Steelers will win, and to be honest I wouldn't mind that either. I just want a good game
FrFan
No, I will root for the underdog. I'm happy to see a loosing team becoming a winning one. I like showtime and excitement so I will support the Cards. I hope Kurt is going to play on the same level as he did during the NFC championship game, and if Anquan can really contribute anything is possible. Major Harris
whats the point of this thread? always funny coming from a NNT'er. as for me, i'm rooting for the cardinals. i don't like steeler fans much. even my good friends that are steeler fans (2) aren't the same person when talking football. 5 is enough. they don't need six. let the four cardinal fans have some fun. Bubble Screen
Possibly 2-4? Yeah, really. Does that guy even know that we lost to the Niners and Rams? And we nearly lost to the Seahawks, as well. I find it comical that people still aren't giving the Cards their due for getting to the SB. Guys, it doesn't matter what division they played in. They WON their division. They WON their first playoff game over a supposedly better Falcons team. They WON at Carolina, a team predicted by many to be the best in the NFC. And WON the NFC title game over a supposedly better Eagles club. You guys saying they don't deserve to be there are ridiculous. I hope they win the SB, if for no other reason to shut up people like this. Even if they don't, they've CLEARLY proven that they belong. Get over it, people. Even moreso, from the fact that they played in the worst division in football. Its all about getting hot at the right time, man. Who cares if you're impressed or not. They are in the SB, and deservedly so. Seriously, you come off as sour grapes.
NoleSkin21
I can't root against Grimm. The guy was a Hog when the name meant everything. He'll always be a Redskin to me. Whisenhunt I have much less attachment too, but I kind of like the way he speaks about his Redskin days. Still, in the end... I don't want the Cardinals to win a Superbowl. It just feels too wrong. It's like snow in Hell, pigs with wings, Dallas being called America's Team.On the other hand, I like them. I like their Redskin roots. I like what they've done with their team and that they sat their 1 round qb and the money. It's just if the Cardinals win a Superbowl... I mean how is that even possible? That would be like the Saints winning a Superbowl! The Cubs winning the World Series! The Eagles winning a Superbowl! There are just certain things decreed never to happen. I just absolutely hate the Steelers. So yes, I am rooting for the Cards.
SkinsBry
I'm leaning towards the Cards because of Grimm, but I wouldn't be upset if 'Burgh won. I would probably have been a Steelers fan if I didn't become a 'Skins fan as a kid. I'm just glad it's not a B-more and Philly Superbowl.

I would be a Panther fan if I hadn't grew to love the Skins as a kid. With that said, the LAST team I want to see win a Super Bowl is the Panthers. I bring this up because I see you live in PA. And im assuming you grew up there. Also, I'll say it again. I can't grasp how anyone would want the Steelers to win this game. Especially if you're a Redskins fan. They have 5 Super Bowls already. Why on earth do you want to see them win ANOTHER one? And this isn't just to you. Its to all those other ES'ers out there who want Pittsburgh. And fairweather. They don't deserve to win anything. But I should have said "about" the last team I want to see win a SB is Carolina. Because, you're right, Dallas is definitely the last team I want to see win one. Btw, how did you come to be a Redskins fan if you grew up in PA? Because they already had two teams you could have been a fan of. I say I would have probably been a Panther fan, because if they had been around im pretty sure they would have been my team. SkinsFTW
Oh well. Grimm still has more rings than anybody on the current Steelers team. No need to feel bad for him even though I was kinda pissed at the end there. Also, Clark got a ring. Making it 2 years in a row a former Redskin that we should have kept gets a ring elsewhere. We've had a lot of former players get rings or at least a SB visit in the past several years. It might be a new FA strategy, sign a player the Redskins want to lowball, go to the SB within 2 years, lol. Johnson, Davis, Pierce, Clark, off the top of my head. My parents are from Baltimore and moved to Pennsylvania before they had me. My dad was a Colts fan, has a ball signed by the '58 team. When the team left town, my dad became a 'Skins fan. Up until then, I liked Penn State but didn't have a favorite pro team. When my dad became a Redskins fan, so did I. I HATE every Philly team, but I am a Penguins fan.
