TWINSKINS
Why did the Skins draft Landry when they already had Sean Taylor(R.I.P.)at free safety? The current coaches are the ones who want to play Landry closer to the Line,so this idea IS NOT going to go away.
Laxpunk2006
I would like to see Kareem Moore at FS and Landry at SS at least as a situational/package deal. While I think Landry does a great job at centerfield limiting the opponents big play oppurtunities, I think he could do equally as effective of a job in the box making plays. Dance04
How many ****ing times do we have to come to the ridiculously obvious conclusion that moving Landry to strong safety would be the stupidest thing possible? I know that I'm being an ass, and I'm sorry, but THIS idea, of all of them, is the worst that I've seen on this board the past two offseasons. It's just so blatantly stupid, I don't know how it keeps surfacing. Just as dumb as people saying move springs to FS
Dance04
What happened to all the Horton love on here?Starting secondary next year: CB - Rogers/Hall CB - Smoot SS - Horton FS - Landry no way in hell smoot should be starting. Rogers Hall Horton Landry And god damnit I'm tired of all this moving Landry to FS, just like NC is saying. Its rediculous.
bushwack
Why did the Skins draft Landry when they already had Sean Taylor(R.I.P.)at free safety? The current coaches are the ones who want to play Landry closer to the Line,so this idea IS NOT going to go away. Gibbs, Vinny, and Snyder have decided to go with the strategy of drafting the BPA (best player available) in '07 and '08, and possibly before that. At pick #6 the best defensive player available was Landry. Landry was versatile enough and so gifted he was able to switch from FS to SS because we had one of the best FS in the game in Taylor at the time. However, once Taylor was murdered Landry went back into his natural position (where he was rated as the #1 FS out of college), and he won't relinquish the starting hold on that position until hopefully he retires as a Redskin in another 12-14 years. The current coaches decided to put Landry back in FS once it was apparent that he was the best option we had back there, and Moore is not a better FS than Landry, so why would we make our defense weaker by taking one our best players out of his position? bushwack
Meant to multi-quote this, but whatever.Yes, except I'd switch Smoot for Rogers. But, as from the other thread, we know each other's positions on that one . . . I think you misread the way he posted his starting secondary, because he has Hall starting with Smoot backing him up and he has Rogers starting with Tryon as his back up. I don't think you want to switch Smoot in as a starting CB and have Rogers backing up Hall.
Skins110
Horton is an animal. He is always around the football. Why would we ever considering benching him? He's a poor man's Troy Polamalu. As long as we keep Landry as the deep safety, having Horton out there will not be a liability in coverage.
e16bball
As for our secondary:CB - Hall, Smoot CB - Rogers, Tryon and/or someone else SS - Horton, Doughty FS - Landry, Moore If Tryon is our 4th CB I see us using a lot more 3 safety packages, I have a feeling Tryon is the next Ade Jimoh in the making. Totally agree with both of these posts. Smoot Point, I think that's exactly what the secondary will look like, or at least ought to. Springs let go, Hall and Rogers retained, Landry and Horton starting, with Moore in reserve. Grimm, I also agree that Tryon as our 4th CB will probably necessitate a lot more of the Cobra formation. Which, frankly, I'm okay with. If you've got a couple safeties with good range and coverage skills, why not get them on the field at the same time? I've never been a big believer in having two safeties and only two safeties on the field. Use them all over the field...their versatility makes them valuable. HitStickTaylor21
Kareem Moore could really develop into something if he can pick up coverage a little better. He was delivering some knockout blows in preseason against the scrubs, he can clearly hit extremely hard. He's got good size and if he can steadily get better in the next couple years, we'd have a great rotation of Landry/Horton/Moore.

Brandon Lloyd Christmas
doughty is an awful saftey. i know hes a cute story and its sad that his daughter is sick, but the guy is terrible. frankly he should be cut and we should sign another cornerback. i like landry/horton/moore/green. Hunter_R
How is he awful? He was one of the best run stopping safeties in the league during his playtime in '07. He was racking up the tackles, too. His coverage was a bit below average, but that was his first time as a starter.

jthor99
I've always looked at Doughty is a stand up guy, but I highly doubt he will be back next year. They may see how he looks at OTA's to see how well he recovered from that back injury, but I honesty see the team going in a different direction once camp comes around. Doughty is a restricted free agent, so we could tender him an extremely low offer to keep him. He's a sure tackler, but a huge liability in coverage. With that said, he can be a perfectly capable backup who only plays situationally, on obvious running plays or against formations where he doesn't have responsibilities deep. You could easily go with Landry and Horton starting, using Moore when necessary and then having Doughty as a 4th string guy who can fill in when called upon. redskinrod38
Kareem Moore(Free) and Chris Horton(Strong) are two safeties you hope will have a bigger role to play next season. The Skins seem to want Landry to play more at Line to become more of a playmaker. As for Corners, seeing as the Skins love drafting secondary help,i'll throw a curveball............ C.B. Springs C.B. Hall C.B./F.S. Vontae Davis(Illinois) S.S. Landry Rogers traded for a pick to be used on a lineman and our first rounder(after a small trade down) goes on Davis. Shocker.:point2sky Anyone any info on Davis? I like I Like. One question? Can Davis catch?
CPstretch
CB- #23 D. HallCB- #22 C. Rogers SS- #30 L. Landry FS- #41 C. Moore I really believe that C. Moore will start at FS next year. Horton had a good year but late in the season he didn't play as well in pass defense. What you guys think?? really is a far cry from 2007 when we had springs rogers landry and ST...now THAT was a stout secondary. no one went near the deep middle of the field against that squad

21DIEHARDSKINSFAN21
why not let him build mass and put doughty as weak side linebacker, LMAO. i dont see us lettin rogers or hall go. but i definitely see us releasin springs. that is if the coaches have any sense. CrypticVillain
No matter how you stack it, it seems like a pretty stout secondary. qft if Rogers would shut up.

gkekoa
Everyone wants to talk about trading Rogers, how about trading Horton? I really like the guy but I think safety is an overrated position with a few exceptions. If Moore has progressed enough to move LL back to SS then we need to consider Horton for a third rounder.
