Mad Mike
Hasn't even taken office yet and he has gone back on how many campaign promises? By my count I think that he us to 3. Exactly why I voted for him. I believe that he is already learning and growing into the roll rather than blindly acting on past beliefs. Good for him. :applause:
SkinsHokieFan
I must say I've never heard someone say that they want the President to break Campaign Promises. I'm guessing you didn't vote for him either. Yup. His campaign promises were quite frankly God awful Hopefully he changes his mind on an Afghan surge as well. It already looks like he is willing to take a good look at entitlements as well The only thing I am upset right now is that he will lift "don't ask don't tell" and never bothered to tell anyone about it
Zguy28
What will your excuse be in four years?Umm...I don't know. Since you seem to know me so well, maybe you can tell me?As a matter of fact while you're at it, tell me my opinion of Obama and who I voted for? It seems gays hate it, yet wasn't it put in place to keep gays from getting kicked out of the military? Someone explain that to me....

GF has told me everyone is freaking out about it at her command I don't see a problem either. Everyone knows who is gay or not gay already, she just says it'll make them even more flamboyant. Her whole point was that your sexual orientation shouldn't matter at all, just KEEP IT TO YOURSELF Hence why don't ask don't tell actually made sense
Kilmer17
So he's following the Bush lead on this. Both are correct. It's not essential. Plus, my guess is that Obama has learned what Bush has known for years. OBL has been dead a long time. Just no reason to announce it to the world. Major Harris
it would be very good for the American psyche....to see Obama in chains. damn, burgold. never thought you'd say something like that. i guess you're not a sheep after all.

Then you'd get booted or thrown in jail. I'm guessing there won't be satisfaction until gays in the military are allowed to march through Key West in pink thongs. :whoknows:

Her whole point was that your sexual orientation shouldn't matter at all, just KEEP IT TO YOURSELF Hence why don't ask don't tell actually made sense When I was in the Army I always loved the women who looked like men and rocked the buzz cut. Hmmm. Not that it mattered to me. I just thought it was all so stupid. Like your gf said, it's not hard to figure out. And I've actually seen soldiers who aren't gay use "Don't ask, don't tell" to get out. They would go to the commander or 1st Sergeant and straight up tell him, "I'm gay." Or "1st Sergeant, I'm having problems at home. My wife caught me sleeping with a man.""

81artmonk
This means one of two things. Either Osama is dead, or two Obama is an idiot. Seeing as I don't think Obama is an idiot.....yet, I don't see why the govt just doesn't come out and say Osama is dead rather than dance around the issue and lie to the public..............oh wait I forgot that's what govt does best!! addicted
I hate politics... If you like Blue and your guy says it then its gotta be right If you like Red and your guy says it then its gotta be right If you like Blue and Red says something throw all logic out of the window and disagree If you like Red and Blue says something throw all logic out of the window and disagree Bush said this and the Democrats freaked out on him and made this a big deal. Now that Obama says the same thing the Republicans are going to freal out and make it into a big deal. The fact both sides said the same damn thing won't matter to anyone they just wanna argue. People need to get out more and live life. Obama/Bush its all the same bull**** the only real question is do you like Red or Blue...lines are forming now

TD_washingtonredskins
I'm not an Obama guy and I voted for Bush in 2000/2004 and McCain in 2008...however, I don't think Obama is trying to say that we will stop trying to capture or kill OBL. I think he's simply stating that it doesn't NEED to happen for things to be OK on that front.

PeterMP
I love how many people assume that because Obama's said this that he's dead vs. the other alternative that it means they have NO IDEA where he is (i.e. that he's likely left the Afghanistan/Pakistan area and could essentially be anywhere in the world- including sitting on a big farm somewhere in the US) and to talk about killing him would be politically stupid. Midnight Judges
I never thought killing Bin Laden was a good metric for success in the GWOT. It would be nice to see him die or better yet get captured and put on trial and given the death penalty like Saddam. But that alone is certainly not the end game. Enter Apotheosis
Let's use some common sense here. If he's still pumping out audio recordings, assuming it's really him, is he really cut off from his contacts with the outside world? That doesn't seem very logical. If you read more than just the parts that were underlined by the OP, you might notice that Obama didn't say Bin Laden is currently cut off. He merely suggested that if we are able to shutdown the lines of communication, killing the man is no longer essential.
BigMike619
Its kind of like a kid saying "I dont want that anyways" when he is not able to have it. Obama wouldnt have any more luck finding bin laden then Bush did.
