Rufus T Firefly
Actually according to wiki, " Nnamdi was targeted only 27 times with 8 completions for 133 yards and 0 touchdowns allowed the entire season. Nnamdi finished the 2008 season with 40 tackles, 1 interception, 1 forced fumble, and 9 pass deflections." Dude is a monster. I believe it was the guys at Football Prospectus who said "His name translates as 'throw to the other side'"
UltimateSkinFan616
There is NO way the Raiders are going to let this guy go. He's way too good a player. He's highly underrated and he gives the defense the luxury of closing an entire side of the field. You don't let that kind of talent go.

redskins59
1. Nnamdi Asomugha Season Total: 29 attempts, 4.97 YPA, 62.07 Forced INC%, 0 TDs 12. Carlos Rogers Season Total: 101 attempts, 5.83 YPA, 47.52 Forced INC%, 4 TDs Everybody who think Carlos Rogers is bad should read this. Because of lack of pass rush, Carlos Rogers has more balls thrown in his direction than average, but he has been pretty solid for us. Obviously, not as good as Nnamdi, but Nnamdi is HANDS DOWN the best cornerback in the league--a shutdown corner in this day and age. He won't be cheap though. He might cost 70-80 millions because he is that good. Not to mention tall for a CB. So he can easily cover guys like Andre Johnson and Randy Moss. kuraitengai
They're franchising him.1. Nnamdi Asomugha (1) Season Total: 29 attempts, 4.97 YPA, 62.07 Forced INC%, 0 TDs this guy is good. I would love to have him, but theres no way in hell we'll get him. ------------------------------------------- 14. Carlos rogers: Season Total: 101 attempts, 5.83 YPA, 47.52 Forced INC%, 4 TDs Rogers has improved significantly this year, can't wait to see him improve more next year. so according to that...is it saying that rogers was the 14th rated CB for that stat? and do you have a link to that info? id be curious to see who else was in there. This is one guys(who I know personally, and knows a lot about sports) opinion. Carlos is a good CB. Check the thread a page or two ago. I posted the list. fire3fighter4
I believe it was the guys at Football Prospectus who said "His name translates as 'throw to the other side'" Hahaha pretty much the case. QB's just don't throw his way. Even when he's on Andre Johnson(2 catches for 19 yards when he had 1500+ on the season).
Thirtyfive2seven
I was sitting back watching the Georgia game and their defensive line is devastating. Its a jailbreak into the backfield on every play. Almost reminds me of the 85 Bears defense. I wish the Skins could have a D line that did that on every play. As for the corner. Why not re-sign a draft pick we actually chose and sign hall and call it a day?
RemoveSnyder
I was sitting back watching the Georgia game and their defensive line is devastating. Its a jailbreak .... I wish the Skins could have a D line that did that on every play. Well there used to be, or still is some guy named Scott Campbell: PRESS RELEASE For Immediate Release January 27, 2008 WASHINGTON REDSKINS PROMOTE SCOTT CAMPBELL TO DIRECTOR OF PLAYER PERSONNEL Ashburn, VA – The Washington Redskins announce today that they have promoted Scott Campbell to Director of Player Personnel. Campbell is a 21-year NFL veteran and has spent the past seven seasons with the Redskins where he has led both the college and pro personnel departments at various times during that span. In his new role, Campbell will oversee both the college scouting and pro personnel departments for the Redskins. Campbell is a graduate of the University of Georgia, where he played on the team's offensive line. I think perhaps Golston was picked due to some influence from the Georgia crowd. Yeah Georgia has some good players on the D-line, just whether we get the premo brusier is up to googly-eye cerratto.
redskins0756
There Tagging him, hes a great player but i think all out money should be spent on Suggs, Haynsworth, and Oline help. Haynesworth is going to take a HUGE chunk of change. I don't know if we can get both Suggs and Haynesworth, but if we have to get one Haynesworth is the clear choice. He is a gamechanger and will instantly have an impact on our team.
SkinsAllDay34
how much can we save by cutting: Springs Jansen Taylor Washington Griffin Not signing Kendall ANYBODY KNOW?
SkinsAllDay34
I answered my own question: (estimated values) 1. Letting Kendall go saves us 3 million 2. Cutting Tayor saves us 8.5 million 3. Cutting Washington saves us 4 million 4. Cutting Springs saves us 6 million 5. Cutting Griffin saves us 3.5 million Cutting Jansen actually loses us money, around 3 million. Daniels saves us 2 million by releasing him, he is a great guy but i think we have to, he is getting too old and coming off an ACL. Even if we did cut Jansen and take the 3 million salary hit, along with releasing daniels, and all the others i mentioned, we would have a savings of roughly 24 million dollars. That is a good amount. We could potentially get Gross to sure up the O line, and Haynesworth to sure up the D line. OK that is optimistic, but another point to be made about Asomugha. He is 27 and will turn 28 this summer. The same goes for Rogers. I say just stick with Rogers. He is improving and will start for us in 09 despite that ridiculous rumor by JLC just because Rogers said he is not a #3 corner. Springs is most likely gone. Hall is going to be locked up (hopefully), and Rogers will get his deal next year. I think Rogers can really break out in 09 for us, because in coverage he is really good and if got a damn pass rush than less balls will be his thrown his way, and hall will pick it off opposite of him
fire3fighter4
Carlos is definitely a top 5 CB in coverage...If he starts catching half of the easy INT's he's had thrown his way he'll be up there with Asmugha and Champ B.
C26 Run
or however you spell it. The only way we trade Carlos Rogers is if we can sign this UFA and Hall and can trade CR for a 2nd round draft pick. A true shutdown corner in every sense of the word and Oakland would be crazy dumb to let him go. :helmet:

skinsince72
Our defensive backs are fine. You have to remember our Dline wasn't exactly giving our Dbacks much help. Teams knew they had all day to throw against us and we still ranked 7th in the league in pass defense. So why are we hell bent in bringing in another corner?? Rodgers has potential. Granted, he has butter fingers but Dbacks need to cover first and think about INT's second. If we had NY's pass rush, Hall/Springs/Hall would be tagged as being the best in the league. Just because wiki has something up there does not mean that its true. You have no idea who posted that up there, and theres no way to check if the person has any credibility or not. You also have no idea when that was posted...For all you know that was as of week 13. I'll take the stats I have(18 catches and 144 yards allowed going into week 16) over wiki any day. Regardless, he's still one of the best CB's in the league.

They can't franchise tag him because they did last year. There's nothing that says they can't tag him twice. I have seen a couple people mention the chance that there was an unannounced deal not to tag him this year, which seems unlikely to me (those things are always announced), but if true, obviously changes things. If he's not tagged, I wouldn't bet money on anyone not wanting to get out of the disaster that is the Oakland Raiders.
