justice98
If the offense did ANYTHING this year, the lack of a pass rush would not be an issue. Let's bottom line it, this was a good defense, by any other measure. It's a playoff caliber defense, the offense, not so much. If the offense scores say, 3 more TDs this year, we're not crying about sacks. Hell, if the kicker was worth anything, we're not crying about sacks. The bottom line is POINTS, and this D was as good as any. Everything other than points is window dressing. And this defense had the pressure of always being in a close game. If the offense gives them some help, we're talking about this D in a different light.
Bang
Makes sense to fire the man who basically saved this team from challenging the Lions as the worst team in the league. Right, because 8-8 is SO close to 0-16. Go to your room. ~Bang
The Robert Griffin Experience
Yeah. Right.Could it not be because he was protecting his guys? Everybody knows that pressuring the QB is important, but he's smart enough to know that him coming out and calling out his players is not going to do any good. . Really? http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_hb5273/is_200311/ai_n20956448 http://www.bearshistory.com/lore/passrushrevival.aspx This is from his Chicago days, mind you. Blache clearly thinks that pass rush is unimportant.
Evilskinzfan47
He regressed really bad this year. Don't know if its the schemes or what, but you have to give it up for our secondary. With absolutely zero help from the front four, they did a great job shutting down some great offenses. When Jason, who hasent done crap, came in he said he didnt like the schemes.I dont think Daniels wouldve been any better this year though. Not with the tackles being so weak this year and generating almost no push. I think alot of it goes on Blache. He says sacks are over rated. When ask why we couldnt get a pass rush,in the post game interview at Cincinnatti, his answer, why are some people fat and others skinny. With the DB's we have,we should have and outstanding secondary. But our blitzes are telegraphed, and obvious. Our run defense is non existant. When the game is on the line,he can not dial up a D to stop anyone. However our offense never giving them a break dont help him at all. And this was his first year calling the D plays and made us into a top 5 D. to many questions that cant be answered. AllBusiness
I'll take this Defense top to bottom next year as is, if the O-line could protect the passer (whoMever that might be!). Blache is not a man that should go.

I'm not calling for his head at all. I'm just thinking that with our secondary,he may of had it a little easy. He was the Defensive line coach last season and thats where we struggled the most this year.Who did he get to take his place? When he was our line coach, the line was pretty stout, with pretty much the same personnel. DB44
We have nobody that plays with fire, or desire on either O-line or D-line. Just a lot of guys standing around. I remember Carter when he played for SF being unstoppable. a monster, but now he seems to play soft and timid. Taylor is the same way. Throw Monty in there who takes plays off, and Griffin who's injuries have made him weaker, and you have a soft front four. They need a powerful leader on the D-line. SkinsWizCubsDukes
Jason Taylor and Andre Carter were not the problem this season. If we had a rush up the middle the schemes would work, however, if we do not attain a defensive tackle we need to revamp the scheme for next season. GibbsFactor
Screw it, let's be the Redskins! Sign Haynesworth, Peppers and Suggs! We'll figure out the cap.
cphil006
Philip Daniels would have been more effective than Jason Taylor. I really don't think Snyder ever had the ideas for this team. I'm sure Vinny was talking in his ear to sign Deion Sanders, Mark Carrier, Bruce Smith, and Jeff George. He needs to understand that we are paying these guys franchise money when they are in the downslope of their career.

You're right however JT and AC didn't make too many plays when facing OTs one-on-one. The DL as a unit isn't spectacular, it's just adequate. We also won't be able obtain a Gints-like DL in one offseason so I expect both JT and AC to come back as well as Monty, Golston, Evans and Rob Jackson. Unless we make Haynesworth the highest paid DT in the league don't expect too much improvement in the sack department.
RedskinsInFebruary
I still feel this way. Blow up this team except our DBs. Keep them. They didn't look so hot yesterday. I'd definitely keep Fletcher.
dreamshatterer
Carter believes that he can get to the QB with his edge rush. ALL OF THE TIME!!! There is a thing called a "spin move". Carter goes around so often, that if he spun back, the QB would be there cause he would be stepping up. Am I the only one who sees this?
StillUnknown
that is an ugly stat.............doesn't surprise me one bit though don't worry though, i'm sure Cerrato believes Philip Daniels return will cure everything on our d-line

Drunken Master III
Andre Carter sucks. Yeah, last year he had 10 sacks, but never got consistant pressure. Those 10 sacks were misleading. He always gets in the backfield one second too late. He has one move.... tries to run around the left tackle like a little girl. I haven't seen this guy rip, bull rush, or use the swim move, EVER. Hope he is out the door this offseason. Blache needs to put J. Taylor in his natural RDE position. He would have done much better on the right side. I guess Blache is too stubborn to realize this. Zguy28
Carter consistently gets pushed passed the pocket and can't recover. He just doesn't have the skills (physique is there) to manhandle O-lineman.
Lombardi's_kid_brother
Carter is adequate. The problem is that our line makes absolutely no sense. We have two immobile run stuffers in the middle and two speed guys on the outside. So, we basically allow teams to create a comfortable pocket simply by the types of rushers we have. Our tackles just stand there. Our DEs run twenty yards upfield. Any decent o line should be able to handle that. The only real benefit to Carter right now is that David Diehl can't block him for whatever reason.
Santana_Fan
He's also the starting DE on a top 5 NFL Defense. But, yeah. We need to improve at DT more than anything. Haynesworth
Never4get#21
OP TY. All the JT haters took away from the fact that AC is horrible. JT has excuses: 1. Injuries 2. Double Team 3. New Scheme AC NOTHING!! SAD!
deejaydana
How depressing that Demarcus Ware gets more sacks in one game than our team sack leader has for the season? Despite what some think we need a pocket crushing DT to fix this issue. Carter still has plenty left in the tank.
