tr1
Since Jerruh can't seem to line up a naming deal, I propose the pukes organization name it Tom Landry Stadium. No other coach brought such fame and accolades to that distinguished franchise for over so many years. I think it only fitting to name the stadium after him instead of some greedy corporate interest that probably doesn't have it's headquarters in Texas. What do you think? BigDFan5
Its a great idea, unfortunately for Cowboys fans he will sell the naming rights in the biggest name deal in history and they will name it after their corp.

I think a Cowboy fan posted this under tr1's name... because this is exactly what so many of us would love to happen. I have wanted it to be named Tom Landry Stadium for a loooong time. Unfortunately, I just don't think it's gonna happen.
3rdgenJen
As much as I was raised to detest the Cowboys, my family always respected Landry. It would be nice to see the stadium named for him but wouldn't it have a bitter taste given that the man who fired him to put his buddy in as coach would be the one giving out the honor? HapHaszard
Every time I watch a Redskins/Cowboys game I can still see that old fedora stalking the sidelines. It would be a good name for the new toilet bowl.
dcnativenerd
Well, tr1, that would require Jerry Jones to do something that respected the franchise's storied history instead of piling on millions and millions on dollars. So, it's not gonna happen. Would seem like the right thing to do. I still hate the fact that we changed the name of our stadium.
KDawg
Jones fired Landry at a golf course when he bought the team... You think he's going to name the stadium after him?
pjfootballer
Maybe Tom Landry field at blah, blah, blah Stadium. I'd like to see the Redskins call it Joe Gibbs field at Fed Ex Stadium.

HapHaszard
You saying there wont be a naming rights deal? I suspect a deal will get done, but I seriously doubt that it will be for as much money as everyone expected. Most corporations have stockholders and I doubt they are going to spend Millions of dollars in this economy for naming rights.
BAFGA
You saying there wont be a naming rights deal? If Jerry holds out for what he thinks the rights are worth, then he might be waiting a while. If he takes the first offer, then there will be a naming rights deal. I just can't see companies offering a lot of money for that right now.

Weren't we all led to believe it was going to happen sooner? That's what was implied by the newspaper stories....and, the pukes' FO, of course.
