NeckBone
After ankle surgery prior to the season, a bad shoulder, worse team, and an overall disdain for all things Cincy-are the Bunguls kicking themselves for not taking that trade offer from the pre-draft Skins? Also, are the Redskins regretting this as well? Hindsight is 20/20 (and I'm sure I'm going to get fried for this in one way or another) but I'm just thinking outloud and want to hear some other opinions. Could you imagine a rejuvenated Ocho Cinco opposite Moss, with ARE in the slot and Cooley taking the heat off everyone. Now, 85's fair market value has plummeted, but he wants out. And they need/have to blow up this team. Oh how the mighty have fallen. I'm sure the attitude and antics discussion will arise. But does anyone remember the costums and flips into the endzone from CP26? Things can be taken out context. Also a strong internal team leadership and head coach can do wonders. At this point in his career I can imagine 85 is thinking about a ring. Can Washington be a good fit?
praise_gibbs
I am a HUGE 85 backer. However, I am on the fence with this issue because I think MK and even DT have a career of some solid games ahead of them. I am not ready to count those guys out. It would be interesting to say the least con Ocho Cinco en La Borgona y Oro.
SWFLSkins
I don't think we need another small fast wideout. Thomas and Kelly will produce, at least I hope one of them will.
Blondie
Why are SOME players on other teams given passes when they through tantrums, disobey rules, seek attention.......and yet.........OTHER players on other teams are chastised and ridiculed? The issues the Skins have currently are not at wide out so it's really pointless to surmise what could have been with him on the team.

Audible_Red40
Any talented WR probably could provide a spark right now. I am glad the deal went dead. Let's let our two young men develop and move on. Hopefully MK steps it up this week for some added excitment going into the game vs. The G-men. IbleedBnG83
Eff that. Too many draft picks, too much money, too much of a headache, for a player thats on the "downside" of his career.
dwills1
we were essentially trading our two first picks (Malcolm Kelly and Devin Thomas) for Chad...which in hindsight would have been a great deal seeing the lack of production we have received. Our first priority in the draft needs to be defensive line and offensive line. Next prioirty should be linebacker, and then we can look to fill in after that. If he gets released or waived I'm all for it....but I can't really see where we can give them a need and in turn make a successful trade. The only guy I can think of right now is Betts....and I think the proof is out there that you need a solid number 2 in the backfeild

You can't judge WRs by their rookie year, especially when they have been injured. Ocho may have been better for a year or two but after that I think our rookies will be better. In the long run, drafting is a better option.
Gibbs Hog Heaven
Good question NeckBone. In the summer, I was amongst the loudest screaming for Ocho Cinco to become a 'Skin. That's tempered a little now, as I still have a lot of faith in Kelly and Thomas over time, but one can't help wondering how much of a difference two premier wide outs in Santana and Chad would of made thus far in helping out JC and the new scheme. I'm gona' put a few thought's down before Cincy's #85 get's ripped in this thread. What I don't get back in the summer was all the animosity toward #85. "A locker room cancer", (which is an ABHORRENT term btw, and people should think about the connotations of flippantly throwing around that killer before they do), ..... based on what exactly? Even now his team mates in Cincinnati have nothing but good words to say for him..... heck, his own QB Palmer was calling for him to get a deserved extension back when all the trade talk was happening . People will probably throw up that ONE incident he allegedly traded blows with Lewis..... whether or not this did actually happen, i hate to break this guys, but **** happens in locker rooms all over the Lge every week of the season, even here. When you've 53 guys together, day in, day out, not everyone's gona' get on all the time. Just not all of it gets reported. Then you have suggestions that he "doesn't care" and "wouldn't 'put it in' " if he got a big contract with the 'Skins. Up until last night, the dude had played in 113 straight games over the past 7 years or so for the Bengals, breaking many franchise records in the process. Over the period, he's arguably done as much as ANYONE for that franchise. Chad's brash and loud, no question, but in a bad way? Of all the problems that franchise has had, off the field, with player misdemeanours, when has CJ ever been arrested? The guys harmless and just likes to have fun. And that's a BAD trait to bring into this locker room? Add that to the fact he's an ELITE receiver who CONSISTENTLY gets it done. I like the potential of Kelly and Thomas a lot, as I've said, but you'd rather gamble on the potential of rookies who may or not work out as opposed to proven quality? I'll concede I DIDN'T like the way he tried to force Cinci's hand to get the move here. I'm not big on "player power", but after 7 years of total commitment as mentioned above, I can understand his frustrations, and none of us know exactly what THAT ball clubs like on the inside without actually BEING there. JC, with Ocho-Cinco, Moss, ARE, Cooley, Portis, Big Mike..... with the likes of Kelly, Thomas and Davis..... tell me that wouldn't of had, and still doesn't have, you drooling at the possibilities for both the immediate and the future. I personally think we missed that boat, and I think we picked up a potential future stud in Kelly, but, if we could still get him WITHOUT over paying for him, in both picks and money, then we'd be remiss to not at the very least explore the possibility again. Hail.
nightbird
Why should I assume Ocho Cinco would be "rejuvenated?" And you can't look at it as trading Kelly and Thomas for #85, because Cincy was looking for two FIRST round picks, not the two 2nd rounders we got out of our 1st. How many games has he helped his team win? Yes I know they have a lot of problems but I'm just not interested in prima donna high profile "stars" that don't produce here. Besides, you're not supposed to draft what you need right now. You draft what you need two years from now. I'd be willing to bet anyone listening that during the 2010 season, Kelly/Thomas will have more combined catches, yards and TD's than Chad Johnson. And Chad wouldve been a great pick up for us, still not sure how I wouldve felt about giving up two 1st rounders for him, but he would be great in our offense...... KingGibbs
Obviously Chad would've helped take some pressure off of Moss (assuming Chad was healthy), but I didn't like the idea of two first rounders being tossed around.

The Antics or whatever that he was doing was ok for the longest time there by the team and the fans, so they share in some of the blame now. If they didnt like it they should have nipped it in the bud from the jump. But I believe that trade would have worked for both teams. But it dosent have to be Johnson (Ocho, #85 or whatever) in particular, just a legit and credible receiver opposite of Moss
NeckBone
Thanks for the input! I do think he will become "rejuvenated". I mean he wants to play here. Do you remember when Randy Moss was on the downside of his career in Oakland. Oakland looks like a damn fine place compared to where Cincy is right now! That organization is almost as bad as the one in TX at keeping cancerous, immoral foosball players. Marvin Lewis was a defensive guru who fell into an offensive juggernaut. Where's the D now? Offense I can give a pass with a bum RB, injured QB, and hobbled WR. And I feel like with our D playing so strong and a new offense learning, we are only a few plug-gaps away from being a title contender.
stwasm
Having Ocho Stinko won't matter if the offensive line can't keep JC upright. And you can bet that, as the line struggled, Chad would throw them under the bus the first chance he got, poisoning the locker room. We're better off without that clown and his habit of missing meetings. Plus, he's done next to nothing this season. I can't believe this is even a topic of conversation here. TheLongshot
Well, this kinda focuses on the tradeoffs between trading for an established WR and drafting rookies. If you are looking for immediate impact, you aren't as likely to get it from a rookie, tho it is better over the long term. We have seen the effect it has had on this offense, where having a guy opposite Moss would take some of the pressure off of him and maybe open a bit more in this offense. I never was for the Chad Johnson trade, but I would have liked Roy Williams or Antwan Boldin if they had come available. Either of those guys would have been a big help in this offense this year. At the same time, tho, Both Thomas and Kelly could be forces for the future at a much cheaper price. But, you never know with rookies.

MWCREDSKINS
Actually the pick we would've used to send to the Bengals was used for Devin Thomas and Fred Davis becuase of a trade with Atlanta. But still I'm glad we don't have Chad Johnson, he declining in production and he's a cancer
