HoyaSkins28
I just saw on around the horn that the topic was about the redskins so i kept watching. according to espn if pro bowl voting ended today as much as 21 redskins would be going to the pro bowl! shawn springs leads all corners, ryan plackemeier leads all punters, and mike sellers has 160,000 more votes than any other fullback. i know there was a post showing the charts but i guess this just confirms it. thought this was kind of cool. keep at it guys! JaimeDeCurry
What did the analysts have to say? Did they seem to get the point about how the voting system is horribly, horribly flawed?

This is incorrect. Fan voting only counts for 1/3 of the vote on Pro Bowls. So the other 2/3 (players and coaches I think) could and will override the fan voting. My understanding is that with the formula the NFL uses there will be a couple positions where the lead will be tough to erase. Sellers, for example, is so far ahead that it would take a lot for the coaches and players to knock him out of first place. Apparently the formula takes into account not only what position you're in, but how far ahead you are as well.
No_Pressure
I would hope all those idiots realize we're trying to show the world how stupid it is that fans help in large part to turn pro bowl trips into basically popularity contests. Sure we won't get 21 players in for sure and it's only 1/3 but I'll bet we get a lot more than we should.

redskns21
I really don't like this. Though we've had some snubs in the past, I think that if this works, it'll invalidate genuine worthiness of finally getting there for someone like London Fletcher or a Carlos Rogers. If Skins fans would vote as die-hard as we did for that mascot contest, these leads would be insurmountable.
great28
I saw this yesterday and to be quite honest, I don't think that many Skins deserve to go. Now I'm as diehard as anybody on this site, but there is no way that Plack deserves to go to the Pro Bowl. Hell, even Randy Thomas admitted that he's not playing at that level, yet he too is on the list. Does Kedric Golston even start? It's rediculous! The only people that truly deserve to go are Portis, Fletcher, Rodgers, Horton, Moss, Cooley, Samuels, and if he was healthy, maybe Springs. Other than those people, everybody else should get a raincheck.

Haha you're not kidding man! That was seriously insane how many of us would literally vote for hours on end with like 10 or more windows up. Also I agree with WP that if the other teams don't like it they should just start their own get-out-the-vote effort. If all the teams did what the Redskins are doing this year, we wouldn't have such a huge lead in this.

In addition, if they don't even make the playoffs, I think it's going to be an insult to teams like the Titans and the Giants.
Burgundy&Gold4Ever
I voted 5 times today, and it wasn't wasn't my first set of votes. I voted the whole Redskin ticket because I'm tired of other teams sending undeserving players. I'll confess that I feel ridiculous voting for guys who really don't deserve to go (for example, Shawn Springs. Man, the guy's barely played -- though he was quite good before he got hurt. Yeah, that's how I'll justify it. ). Nonetheless, I'd rather an undeserving Redskin make it vs. an undeserving player from another team. Here's how I think they should fix the system. I think we're stuck with fan voting in all pro sports. Given that, there should be a selection committee that determines who ends up on the ballot because they're actually having a Pro Bowl year. Then, fans can vote from the people who deserve consideration. :2cents:
