CjSuAvE22
This is so stupid...some people are comparing these two and also saying LL is not being "productive" enough as ST was........Without LL this defense would be gone from good to bad real fast we would probably get beat deep once or twice a game, please look at what landrys asked to do then step back and analyze the situation and put yourself in his spot. Think about thiiiiiiiiiiiiink about it....now if you were 20-25 yards away from the snap of the ball how often would you think your name would get called in a game...you cant ask LL to be ST either they are totally different just be happy with how good our secondary is playing even though most the qbs they play against can step up in a nice pocket an throw the ball. THANKS :applause: Agree 100% Ive read some of the ignorant things posted about Landry not being productive and its so wrong that I flat out refused to comment on it. I even read somewhere that someone said ST never got beat when asked to play the assignments LL is being asked to play. How soon we forget. His third season, he had more deep balls for touchdowns thrown on him than any other safety in the league at a point late in the season. It was bad. Zhouse
I agree! Horton is pretty much playing so close to the line you can call him a 4th LB. LL is the "guardian angel"
flexxskins
I 100% agree. But, did you really have to start yet another thread on this subject? Couldn't you have just put this in one or all of the others?:2cents:
LoudMouth12thMan
Agreed, and it's a credit to him that he actually plays that role and seems to understand that it's what he has to do to make the D successful. You don't hear him complaining or loafing out there. He's going a million miles an hour on every play. He is faster than Sean T was though....just sayin' not comparing

MD.C RedskinsFan
So you're telling me that LaRon Landry can run and fly but he can't teleport? He needs to step his teleportation game up big time. I demand that he play D line and when he can't get to the quarterback and the quarterback passes the ball 50 yards down the field that he teleport 50 yards down field and save the touchdown by intercepting the ball and then teleport into the opposing team's end zone for the touchdown. RedlightG20
People are just saying LL is being unproductive because his name isn't heard that much. The thing about playing defense is that, most of the time, it is good that your name isn't heard. It means you're beating your man and taking him out of the play. When you hear a defensive player's name, most of the time its because A) they made the tackle, they made an INT, or C) they got burned or run over. While LL isn't making the picks we all hoped he would, this also points to the fact that opposing offenses aren't testing him all that much. chrisxcore
I'm a huge supporter of LL and have been impressed (for the most part) with the way he's played this year. If there was one thing that bugged me about him - it's that he's always going for the knockout hit - which part of me loves - but part of me wishes he'd just wrap up and tackle. On a side note - everyone saw how fast he got into the backfield and hit Romo sits to pee on the pick Rocky got right? IMO, Landry should be used in blitz situations more. Rufus T Firefly
I would like to see Landry make a few more plays. But that is meant as a minor criticism. He's done a very good job overall, I just think he needs to make a few more things happen to get the accolades some people have given him. To be clear, though- he's very good and I expect will get better. If you're looking at problems with the Redskins right now, Landry's play isn't in the top 50. But some people talk about him as if he's one of the top couple of S's in the game, and I want to see a bit more playmaking before making that leap. andyburd
I love me some LL. I will be wearing my #30 to the Giants game. I think he has played great at FS, the way you are supposed to play it
Truant
I don't really agree. No comparison to ST, that's not fair, but Laron needs to make some big plays here and there. Passing is only a portion of the game, where is the wicked run support? And we have given up some large passing plays. Fitzgerald, Avery, Washington... I like Laron and he's playing fine, but he's capable of giving us more. We should want to see more.

Da Truth
Lets agree to disagree Landry is not as good as ST, cool? IMO the majority of folks are disappointed because when Sean was taken from us, Landry was supposed to be that stud FS/SS like he never missed a beat but he has somewhat been a disappointment this year. MumboSauce
Yeah they are two different men/players, skill sets etc. Landry is Landry..he's doing what he's assigned and asked to do. Sure his tackles are down, and he isn't blowing people up but he's playing center field and using his range to stop the deep ball. He's fairing pretty well at that. Landry is not Taylor..no one will be. I expect more from Landry however, I'm sure he expects more from himself. and of course we all miss Sean but Sean was Sean...no other player/man will be quite like him. KingGibbs
Landry has done a very good job IMO. As been discussed on here many times he's shutting down the deep ball with the exception of a few plays. I still think he's better suited as a SS, but his versatility is a luxury for the team and allows him to play both safety positions. I've often wondered if Horton would be a good FS due to his ball hawking potential and instincts.
Santana_89
.Without LL this defense would be gone from good to bad real fast :applause: NO matter what some fans feel he isn't doing.TRUST that opposing receivers REMEMBER #30 is in the Redskins backfield. ThePreciating
I am actually really glad that this is its own thread. Too many people were getting away with absolutely false statements about Landry's play. If Landry plays at exactly the level he's playing at now, he's good enough to start for a super bowl team. That's fact. If you disagree, name a safety you'd rather have outside of Polamalu or Reed. Don't say Sanders - he can't play free safety.
Fifty Gut
Don't let the ignorant fans get to you man. There's a lot of them, I know, but it's their own fault they don't understand football.
CRobi21
Everyone knows LaRon is doing a GREAT job of taking away the deep balls. But with his performance against SEA last year, I think more people were expecting him to make more plays this year. I think that's all it is. I saw that he's been bothered by that hammy all year, and is just now getting over it. Hopefully we'll see the more Ball-Hawking #30 out there again. German_skin
LL is a hell of a player in my eyes... people who talk about him being not productiv are just a little ignorant in my eyes... they are lookin 4 stats and want to hear his name every second play... but like other writers just said.. he is 25 yard deep... now u wanna see him play run support!? That is not what he's supposed to do... i think guardian angle is a very good description... And yes he is no Sean.... nobody ever will be... he was a guy u wil have once in a century!! RIP SEAN!!! Rexx1240
How do we complain about the free safety of a 4th ranked defense with a defensive line that has produced the 5th fewest sacks in the league?? With absolutely NO pass rush whatsoever, the free safety has to be doin sumthin right to have a top five defense. Sum of you need to really kno what you're talkin bout b4 actually postin things. Landry's doin EXACTLY what he's bein asked to do and that's the bottom line. If you don't like what he's doin, then that's a matter that should be taken up with Greg Blatche not Laron Landry.
