I innocently asked this eBay seller where he got his jersey. My exact words were "I do not want to buy a knock off. Where did you get the jersey? Thanks."

Here's his response:

For starters, I do not like the way you asked yoru question... you do not tell someone you do not want a knockoff and ask them where they got their merchandise from.. you should know better than to ask questions like that in that manner. I have done over 20,000 transactions on ebay between all of my accounts and have NEVER had some ask me where I get my stuff from. That my friend, is none of you buisness. The fact is this jersey IS legit and authentic.... however, due to the manner of my responded email, I will be blocking you from bidding as I would not be surprised "if" you did bid that after you would leave me some bad feedback via my "attitude".

If this was a bet, I think the smart money would show that this guy is probably selling knock-offs. Seems to me, if his product was legit, he wouldn't be so defensive - and the price wouldn't be so low.

The other thing is, why is it only a three day listing? What's the big hurry? Might be because he wants to limit his exposure so Reebok doesn't see him and sic their lawyers on him. He has dozens of listings, and yet they all open and close within the same hour, and they are all active for only three measley days. That's a pretty sure sign of an illegal operation.

If everyone knew sellers' sources, everyone would be selling..... Just know that I have 10000% no doubt you will love the jersey if you win it. If you are not satiusfied with it, simply return it back to me for a full refund. Does that sound fair?"

"Hello... is this a knock off jersey? I see alot of my buddies at the gym get made fun of for buying jerseys on ebay that are knock offs (as well as driving mini vans), and I dont want to get verbally molested at the gym for buying a knock off. Can you let me know where you bought this just so I know its legit? Thanks!"

This is how he responded to me:

"This jersey is 100% AUTHENTIC. I own a small baseball card shop in the suburbs of Detroit, MI and my buisness is going under due to the economy. I was originally allocated thru a distributer affiliated with Reebok the Sean Taylor jersey along with multiple players for 100.00-125.00 per jersey. As with Upper Deck sports cards... I am allocated to spend "X" amount of dollars per year as I am with my jersey distributer. I do not really like to talk about my troubles to strangers and have already "probebly" upset 2 ebayers with negative responses to where I get my jerseys and if they are legit. I can assure you this jersey is AUTHENTIC and that it is not one of those sweatshop bootlegs you will find on Ebay. If you have anymore questions/concerns, feel free to email me."

My response:

"Im sorry, but I dont believe you. Im calling the cops". :rotflmao:

I got a reply from him finally too , LOL he changed his tone fast after i threatened to report to ebay for a fraudulent listing :laugh:

I apoligize if I was rude earlier as these are tuff times for me. It seems like out of no-where EVERYONE is giving me **** on my Sean Taylor jerseys... The jersey does say sz 48 on the jocktag which is the equivalent to a size medium. The collar is correct aswell. I do not know what jersey or jerseys you are comparing mine to but if you go to nflshop.com and check authentic redskins' jerseys or even to the following ebay items you will see the collar is as it should be.

What the hell does satiusfied mean? :silly: Dang 10000% now that's a lot.

it looks like the stripes on the sleeves dont even make it all the way around i've bought a couple of knockoffs from ebay that look legit but this is one I would definately pass on.
That's not necessarily true. There are legitimate authentics that have the underarm section sewn into the stripes, making it appear the stripes don't go all the way around.

I know. I got a similar email last night. I just read it. He's actually offering to send me a jersey for free. He says I can look it over and if I like it, pay him, and if I don't, send it back. Can't go wrong with that.

There are tons of fake jerseys on eBay. The reason I emailed this particular guy is because there was nothing in his photo that I could see that made me think it was fake. But the photos were also too small and there were no close ups.

His initial response was abusive, of course, but maybe he's stressed out. His latest offer is certainly reasonable and his explanation seems to make sense.

Still - why only three days? The only thing I can figure is he needs cash NOW and can't wait longer than three days.

OTOH, if that's true, then he'd be interested in making sales. However, he has blocked me and he is not willing to unblock me. Weird.

The only real problem with this jersey, if it's legit, is it's the old style, meaning it's the one with the horizontal seam across the chest, and the non-spandex body. It's basically an Adidas jersey. I mean, it's a current jersey, you can spend close to $300 for it if you want, but the new style is much cooler.

I'm accepting his offer. Let's see how this plays out. Heck, if it's legit and I decide I don't want it, I know I can find somebody on this site who will take it. The holidays are coming.

Now he's telling me he's out of Redskins Authentic Taylor jerseys. He'll try to find one, he says.

I'm not going to hold my breath.

Perhaps he's getting lots of those older style authentics cheaply from Reebok? A buddy of mine works for a sporting goods store, and going into this season, they got a bunch of white Campbell authentics in the old style supercheap. They were SELLING them for 100 bucks. Ah well.
