In a scheduling note, the Giants Nov. 30 game in against the Redskins will remain a 1 p.m. kickoff, as the game was protected by FOX and will not be flexed to a later starting time.

Just saw this on ESPN.com

For those who were wondering, the NFL and NBC have opted against flexing the Nov. 30 game between Minnesota and Chicago, leaving kickoff for that matchup at 8:15 p.m. ET.

That means that the Jets & the Giants are both currently scheduled to play at 1 pm that day.

Both games will not be played at the same time for television purposes.

I had this whole explination ready explaining why I thought the Giants game would be played at 4, but when I just looked on ESPN.com, the week 13 schedule is already up.

Denver at the Jets is at 4

Giants at Washington is at one

Does that mean that it can't go to 4pm? The flex thing is just for the night game I thought. Fox could still move it to 4 I think, or does protecting it keep it a 1?

Bob...referring back to the original post...:silly:

There has been discussion on another board as to whether the Jets (hosting Denver) would hold the early time slot with Steelers-Patriots already in the late slot as the feature game, or get flexed into the night slot (uprooting Bears-Vikings). I had a feeling that Bears-Vikings would stay as it's still a good NFC North "black and blue" matchup that could affect who leads/wins that division.

So we knew one game was going to move and had that week been Fox's turn for a doubleheader, no question it would have been dropped to 1615 ET. However, this is CBS's turn for a doubleheader so if we did get moved, it would be to 1605 ET. Last year, Week 11 initially was: us at Dallas at 1300, Giants at Detroit at 1615, Jets hosting Pittsburgh at 1300 and no CBS late game at 1605. Three-plus weeks prior, the league moved three games: ours to 1615 ET as the marquee late game, Giants-Detroit to 1300 ET as the early headliner, and Steelers-Jets to 1605.

I believe there is a rule that any 1605 ET game cannot go to more than 50 percent of the country so it was pretty likely that we would hold the early time because: (1) the Giants are 9-1; (2) they are the largest market in the league; and (3) it's an NFC East matchup which always works in Fox's favor for ratings. Plan on Buck-Aikman making the trip from Dallas to call this game.

So that sends the Jets to the 1615 ET time slot ... but what surprises me is that CBS did not lobby to move Steelers-Patriots, currently scheduled for 1615, back to 1300 so they had a strong lead in game. Right now, their only three early games are: Dolphins-Rams, Ravens-Bengals, Colts-Browns.

And for those worried about those squirly secondary market rules, CBS is limited to one game that week with us at home on Fox so it is 99 percent unlikely that WUSA would be forced to show the Ratbirds and deprive this area of any late football.

So breakfast and lunch for the Giants game ...

The last thing this team needs is to be embarrassed in prime time again.

You're right... we're just going to be embarrassed just after noon time on that Sunday.

Get ready... because it's going to be ugly!

And I'm not talking about the G-men.
