KDawg
He said, in short "Portis was a STUD last night, and then when they needed him down the stretch the went away from him. Why? Campbell was getting hit every time he went to throw!!!" I agree here. I still like Zorn. Alot. And I keep reminding myself that we thought in the preseason that 8-8 would be a huge accomplishment and we're 6-4 right now with a great chance to do better than 8-8. But why go away from Clinton? He looked okay physically, and he was beasting it. Our OLine is fantastic at run blocking, bad at pass blocking. Keep going with our strength. skinsaddict
i yelled at the TV every time we didnt run on first down, so I cant answer your question.
Rhodus333
My only guess is he wasn't 100%, plus the poor passing game limited zorns ability to call effective run plays.
fire3fighter4
i'd have to guess it was becaues of the injuries...he was averaging like 4.5 yards a carry, and only got fed 15 times.....if they took him out for anything BUT trying to keep him healthy I'd be very disappointed. WARLORD1863
During the first half I was actually concerned that we were too focused on running. I felt that the running game wasn't getting us anywhere. I thought that instead of using the run game to open up the passing game, it should have been the other way around. Pass to the awesome weapons we have in our recieving corp. to open up the run. Second half was the opposite. Run game dissapeared and there was too much emphasis on the dink and dunk passes. So all I can say is that perhaps there was a change in Zorn's philosophy or an injury concern.
ST is my boy
They loaded the box......they were BEGGING Jason to make a play. He just couldnt....wether it was the playcalling, the oline, or Jason holding the ball to long I dont know.....but it was agonizing to watch. Skins3021
I would agree that he was probably a little sore and effected by the knee pain. But I give Portis serious props for even playing, and especially for playing so well during the time he was in
texasthunder
You have to wonder about the injury. He was great, and the OL did open some holes for him, but there were a couple runs in the 2nd half that I was afraid he wasnt going to get up. He looked okay physically, and he was beasting it. Our OLine is fantastic at run blocking, bad at pass blocking. Keep going with our strength. I feel ya!!! That Portis TD was a wonderful example basic power football. Even the off tackle running plays was getting good yards. Its that damn WCO...or (chuck-n-duck, run-n-shoot,k-gun) crap thats gonna be the nail in the coffin for us!! I know I will probably be flamed for saying this but i don't care because it must be said. The Skins DO NOT have the personnel for the WCO offense...PERIOD!! We are trying to emulate something that has rarely worked in the league. It worked in weaker divisions were those teams that ran it used the talent of their personnel. You need at least 2 very good WRs and a better than medicore QB to run it. We drafted WRs for this offense and we know what they have done thus far, and Campbell has had the Deer in the headlights look sometimes. I'll admit that we have seen the possibilities of this offense and what it can do, so maybe there is hope. But to be a serious contender they should be playing to their strenghts. The Defense played their butts off last night against a loaded team holding them to 14pts while the O fiddle faddled with opportunties. The wild card race is just that and unless something drastic happens the Giants will win the div running away. I beleive we will still make the playoffs with a 10-6 record at least, but thats not even certain at this point.
SkinsNumberOne
Were you guys at the game? I have no idea what the TV coverage was, but CP limped off the field more than once, only to return soon after. He was also getting hit pretty hard, which is pretty nerve-racking. I'm pretty sure there is an understanding that if CP is out for the season, we are done. More than beating the Cowboys, his long-term health had to be respected. But I hope he can get healthy. Ugh what a disaster.

Philly going to 4 straight NFCC games. I agree the NFCE sucked then, but the whole conference was so "weak" this pathetic offense worked? How about Tampa running it under Gruden to take the SB? Oakland running it under Gruden getting cheated out of a SB by the tuck rule? All those 49er's teams? There is nothing wrong with the WCO. You are correct that changing from one system to another does take personnel changes. Zorn has been given one offseason a month or two into it to attempt to assemble the types of players he needs. Show SOME patience. You're right that we don't have the personnel YET. We do however have two future WR's and TE sitting on the bench learning the pro game. We have a QB still learning the system. There is nothing wrong with the system or the players we have, just give it some time. Rome wasn't built in a day.

Is Alexander not capable of getting at least 3 yards a carry 2 times on a drive?? Is the key for other teams to beat us then is to just stop Portis because no one else is a threat?? Da Truth
Yea Portis looked like a beast out there..how bout that big gain up the middle when they went for it on 4th & 1?

So Campbell has an indefinite time to effectivley lead this team?? We have seen 2 Rookie QB's and second year QB's come in, learn their teams system and go!! I'll admit, because Campbell has been learning a new system every year he has played it has some merit. Its just frustrating to watch the Defense do all they have to do and then some to keep this team in games, and then watch the offense stall needlessly. BurgundyBlood_85
portis looked good on the 15 carries i seen him on, i don't understand why we are throw the ball for shorter distances than Portis usually runs? he looked perfectly fine to me. chances are if portis gets 10 more carries, we score at least 7 more points and win the game
HBnotBlades
Is this the same Jamaal Anderson that played for the falcons when they went to the super bowl in 98? If so, this is very very ironic. Hmmmmm, why would a team not want to give the ball to there injury ridden RB 30 times a game? Oh, example A: Jamaal Anderson. He had 400+ carries and 1800+ yards in 98 (in his prime) and then gained about 1200 yards TOTAL for the rest of his career. Running himself ragged during their super bowl run essentially ended his career. As much as I would have given Portis more carries, we don't want to push our luck while he's playing with a strained MCL.
