Where is Fred Davis?

Yeah, but why is he "hidden" behind Yoder? Did you see Yoder's pathetic attempts at blocking last week?

In case you missed it, everyone who tried to block last week was pretty pathetic.

As for Cooley-like production being written all over this guy, um, what? I hope he pans out that way, but I think it's an insult to #47 to say that Davis even remotely resembles him now.

Like all rookies, Fred Davis has to learn and then earn. He has to learn his posiion, what's expected of him on hot reads, recognize coverages, and realize when he has to block, that he gives it a "Portis-like" effort. He is currently raw talent who excelled at the college level. He probably has a great career ahead of him in the NFL. But playing time only comes after you have the confidence of the coaches, and that has to be earned. The coaches obviously have more confidence in Cooley and Yoder. Let Fred Davis get a season under his belt and a full offseason of Redskin conditioning and learning Jim Zorn's offense. If he has the attitude he has a lot to learn and reacts accordingly, by putting the time in to learn the game and not just play it, then his first season's bench-warming will be forgotten over the rest of his career. But he won't get the PT until the coaches feel he is ready.

I don't understand the argument of a Fred sitting behind Cooley. Yoder finds his way on the field. There are many team that use 2 TE's. Martellus Bennett is getting on the field for the Cowboys. The Titans have Scaife and Crumpler, Broncos have Scheffler and Graham, and so on. He must not be picking up the plays that well or is a worse blocker than Yoder. There is no way he isn't more effective receiver than Yoder.

While I agree that he hasn't proved anything I think they're just pointing out that Fred Davis is an even higher touted rookie than Cooley way. They are both more of pass catchers than blockers and Davis had the better college career (albeit on a better team).

Some of the guys you mention are blockers. Graham is rarely thrown to in Denver. The Titans have ZERO WR's, and Witten has broken ribs. While teams do use multiple TE's they generally are not in base sets. Davis will get his oppurtunity when he's ready. It's not like Zorn is sitting him just to sit him.

Bennett was used before Witten's injury.

Graham is still having a very productive year, even though Scheffler got hurt, they still used passing catching Nate Jackson.

Dolphins use David Martin and Fasano. Ginn and Camarillo have both been solid.

The fact is that the coaching staff still believes he isn't better than Yoder. Yoder doesn't have good hands at all and he isn't that great of a blocker. We all saw his whiff on Monday Night. Davis can't be any worse, can he?
