fuji869
Sweet! It has been almost a year since his death and the Taylor Jerseys are not selling as fast as the did (understandable). I remember the morning he passed away the online store were all sold out of his jerseys.
Veretax
There are no stores around here that carry Redskins Apparel, jerseys or otherwise so I'll probably have to buy it online. Question to anyone who might have some advice? My son is 5 soon to be 6 in January and wearing Size 6 Shirts. I've been thinking of getting him a Cooley Jersey, but given I don't have any shops to try on for size, I'm not sure what size I should get. Do the Jersey's come in kids sizes? or do I have to settle for a smaller youth size?

It will be a little big but he'll grow into it fast and before you know it will be too small.
s-dot
Where's the best place to find authentic Taylor jerseys online? I'm in Toronto and the only 'Skins jersey I can find up here is Portis...
Veretax
Yeah he does like to grow like a weed at times. Now my second dilemma, do I buy the official gear or a 'replica' I noticed that Kohls had some on their site, but Its obvious to me that they look different than what they actually wear. I'm not sure if my son would care, but he'd notice eventually, he's that smart. I'm thinking maybe the investment in one from the Skins shop itself might be worth it especially if I make i a bit large. I need to check his dimensions though, wouldn't want him tripping over the thing. I'm really inexperienced when it comes to Jerseys. I can remember having Skin Hats, T-Shirts, shorts, sweats, but I never ever had a Jersey before, so shopping for one is a new experience for me. I work in retail at a jersey store so I can help you out a bit... ok there are 3 types of jerseys... An authentic(the real deal) a premier(next step down form an authentic, stiched name and numbers but quality is not as good as an authetic), and a replica (everything is screen printed) in youth sizes they only make premiers and replicas. Premiers for kids are $75 and Replicas are $60. My suggestion to you would be to go with a replica since like you said, your kid grows like a weed anyways so spending $75 on a jersey he will just outgrow in a year might not be the best option. But if you don't care about the price then go for the premier because the numbers & name are stiched it might hold up better over time than a replica. oh yeah, whichever one you end up getting remember to machine wash cold and DO NOT put it in the dryer. Just let it air dry to avoid peeling/fading. and to comment on the ones you saw at JC penny.. They are the next step down from a standard replica. They are officially licensed by the NFL but they are really awful quallity and like you said don't look anything like the jersey the players actually wear. Mark The Homer
I work in retail at a jersey store so I can help you out a bit...ok there are 3 types of jerseys... An authentic(the real deal) a premier(next step down form an authentic, stiched name and numbers but quality is not as good as an authetic), and a replica (everything is screen printed) It's a little more complicated than that. 1) An authentic is not really the real deal which is why I don't buy them. 2) There are a bunch of different types of authentics, with varying styles which attempt to mimic the jersey on the field. All these styles are different - different design, different fabrics - yet they are all licensed authentic NFL Redskins jerseys. The style below is the one I'd be least likely to buy. It's really a copy of the old Adidas jersey, with the horizontal seam across the chest and the nylon without spandex throughout, except in the side panels. I'm assuming this because Taylor Authentics have suddenly become available at shop.redskins.com, so I assume the photo below is accurate, and I assume these are the same jerseys as the ones that have just become stock at the various Redskins stores in the area. I oh yeah, whichever one you end up getting remember to machine wash cold and DO NOT put it in the dryer. Just let it air dry to avoid peeling/fading.You have to be extra careful with the authentics because they are screened thicker in the sleeves and therefore crack easier. I try to avoid washing. If they get smudged, I brush out the smudge by spot washing by hand with a dish of soapy water and a small brush. Spot rinse. Line dry. ...and to comment on the ones you saw at JC penny.. They are the next step down from a standard replica. They are officially licensed by the NFL but they are really awful quallity ...Really. I never heard this before. You're saying the NFL retail division has two types of replica jersey - one they sell directly - and one they make available to other retailers? This is news. Veretax
Thanks for the tips on Jersey's.... I'm really torn at present, and maybe I'll put off this kind of gift till next year, when he likely will appreciate it more. I could perhaps get something else Redskin related that won't cost that much.

Lar0n Landry
Really. I never heard this before. You're saying the NFL retail division has two types of replica jersey - one they sell directly - and one they make available to other retailers? This is news. exactly. They look like this http://www2.jcpenney.com/jcp/X6.aspx?ItemID=1574a4c&ItemTyp=G&GrpTyp=PRD&ShowMenu=T&ShopBy=0&SearchString=redskins+jersey&RefPage=SearchDepartment.aspx&s4PageSize=15&CmCatId=searchresults&Search1Prod=True so I assume the photo below is accurate, and I assume these are the same jerseys as the ones that have just become stock at the various Redskins stores in the area. wrong. The ST authentic I got last night is the new 08-09 jersey with new shield and it doesn't have the horizontal seam as you mentioned. It has the banded sleeves as well. I've come to realize that the photos on NFLSHOP and the Redskins store are not always accurate. I ordered a custom 70th anniv. Darrell Green a while back and in the picture they showed a yellow trim around the white numbers, but when it shipped there was no yellow outline. Is that real? I mean, have you seen these jerseys in real life? Maybe the pic is wrong. wrong. They could have made a run of bad jerseys, marked them at a steep discount, and JC Penny picked them up. I'm 100% sure they are not knock offs. They are made by Reebok and officially licensed by the NFL but for some reason only department stores and places like wal-mart and Target carry them. My boss said his Reebok rep has tried to sell them to him in the past but he doesn't think they will sell.
Mark The Homer
I bet they are mistakes - bad runs. Whatever. I saw a weird jersey on eBay with normal sleeves and numbers on top of the shoulders. WTF? Yet the jersey looked legit. I asked the seller, and he said he got it from a Reebok outlet in PA somewhere. I think that one was from a bad run, and I bet the ones you are describing are the same.

Lar0n Landry
I've got an extra brand new White Authentic ST in a 48. it has a slight and I mean very slilght cut in the jersey that is hardly noticable so I will sell it for $250 instead of 270 like the Redskins store is selling them for. pm me if interested. Mark The Homer
I've got a legitimate Authentic ARE jersey. It's white. Original cost was $280. It was purchased at Modell's in early 2007 and has ARE's signature on the back number, obtained at training camp in the summer of 2007. Never been worn, never been washed. $139.
