Does Zorn Know That Passing On First Down Is Legal?

I might break my TV if I watch us run for a total of four yards on first and second down one more time. Jason is tearing up the Detroit secondary but he only gets the ball one out of every three plays.

Knock it the hell off, Jim. Call some play action on first down.

I never lose my sense of wonder at the number of fans long on detailed and specific opinions yet short on any apparent extensive football knowledge as applied to what is actually going on in the games.

The ignornance shows most in matters related to blocking schemes and how timing/execution and individual assigment success affect plays, adjutments to what the other squad is doing, and play-calling in general.

I recommend making sure to catch the postgameheroes game breakdowns that they post on ES as one good source of insight and understanding. It can help indicate what is actually going on at the play-calling level, for instance.

check out the Jason Cample fumblelitis thread ...it's a beaut.

Apprenlty, Jason doesn't hold the ball tight enough.

I swear, is it me or has ES really tanked the last few weeks ...

I think that'll shut some people up.

I was gonna say if you have Portis running like a freight train, why not use him on first down?

Zorn threw the ball at the end of the game to gain yardage and take time off the clock instead of just having Portis plunge into the line.

So, I don't know what there is to complain about in that regard. Zorn gambled that Campbell would not make a critical mistake and would make the completions, and he did.

uh.....HELLO!! a 4 yard pick up is a good play my friend. I'll take 4 yards on every play. That would mean 12 yards every 3 plays meaning we would drive down the field and score a td every time. Get a clue buddy.

I wonder when people ask questions like this, do they watch the whole game, or just react to the last few series? In the first quarter, he was probably wondering if Zorn knew it was legal to RUN on first down.

Thanks for the chart. The numbers never lie.

I wonder when people make posts like this, do they look at what time the OP was made, or do they just react to the rest of the thread?

A total of four yards on first and second down. As in, the two runs combine for four yards, resulting in third and six. I'd offer you a clue, but....
