So, Is Fed Ex Officially Non-Smoking?

The article made it sound like there wouldn't be any smoking anywhere-even in designated areas. This could be bad, especially if we're losing. Imagine not being able to go smoke if we're doing crappy.

After re-reading the article it sounds like there may be some areas for smokers. I'm wondering how long that will last though?

"Dan Snyder’s been told that he has to comply with the law and that his building will be treated just like every other building."

I'm pretty sure that "every other building" (at least in Mo. Co., not sure about PG) stipulates that smoking can still occur in outdoor areas. Granted, the seats themselves are outdoors, and I'm pretty sure you can't smoke in your seat (I've never done it out of respect for fellow fans around me, but I know some peeps light up from time to time up there. Perhaps they're banning smoking in the lower concourse, but I highly doubt they'll make us give up our cigs when we're standing calmly out of the way against the railings in the 400 level. And you've always been able to exit the club level to grab a smoke on one of the ramps right outside.

Heck, even MCI Center has designated smoking areas, so I'd imagine at the worst, for all us smokers, FedEx could do the same thing.

I totally report you people when I see you smoking in your seats. Hope you like the visit from the usher. Actually got a group of teenagers kicked out for it at one game.

And that makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside? You couldn't of said something to them? The Ushers don't notice clouds of smoke (a group) of people smoking? I agree they shouldn't be doing it, but SAY SOMETHING to them. They were there just having a good time like you.

Eventually the smokers will all die off and become extinct. That is the day I wish for. I totally report you people when I see you smoking in your seats. Hope you like the visit from the usher. Actually got a group of teenagers kicked out for it at one game.

Get off my lawn you hooligans!

Dude, you're nuts for having some kids expelled without even consulting with them first.

I can see what you'll do next, "Security, that dude down there keeps breaking out a flask and pouring liquor into his Coke"......or, "Security dude, that guy down there with his wife and 5 kids keep busting out Dixe cups to share a $6 soda!"

People who die from smoking usually do so after breeding age so it wouldn't factor into natural selection. Their kids will just inherit their money sooner.

Reasons why I never smoke in my seats:

1.) Out of respect for all the non-smokers and kids enjoying the game around me. I know non-smokers don't like to be subjected to that, and therefore I keep my distance.

2.) Because I know there's always a smokernazi around to "run to the teacher" and feel good about it. It's just as easy to ask a guy not to smoke as it is to run off and report them to the guards. While I agree that you have every right to report them in that situation, you might also find that some people just don't know any better, and would be glad to put out their cig if all you did was ask.

I wish all smokers would show respect and keep their distance from non-smokers. At the same time, I wish any of the non-smokers with the holier-than-thou attitude who feel it's their responsibility to interfere in my personal business - especially when I am obeying the laws and keeping my distance - should just keep to themselves sometimes.

Next thing you know, they'll come out with a Code of Conduct at FedEx Field and try to stop us from tailgating and drinking! .....oops, wait....

Smoking in the seats since moving to MD has always been a NO NO.

Hell i've even seen people smoking near or around me and have had the ushers come tell them to put them out, AND I AM A SMOKER MYSELF.

I smoked at the endzone bars at the jags game like i have been doing since JKC Stadium opened and no one said anything to me *shrug*

I actually have said something to them. Unfortunately they are normally too drunk to hold a conversation. It is promptly followed by yelling, cursing, and insults, even while I am wearing my Redskins jersey. People who smoke where they shouldn't are ignorant, and I am not going to get into a philosophical discussion with them about the dangers of second hand smoke. That is why we have ushers and security.

Thinking back a bit, the teenagers I got kicked out were also drinking. Both smoking and drinking under age in a public place, and were being abusive of fans around them. I believe it was against the Vikings, and they were berating two Vikings fans that were 3 rows in front of them. The Vikings fans never stood up, never turned around, and never said a word, and these drunk punks just kept yelling at them. So there is a bit more background information.

Honestly I have been to a few Raven's games recently, and I have to tell you the behavior at Redskins games has been way worse in the sections I have sat in. The Ravens have a thing at the beginning where they give the rules and say "Don't be a jerk". The skins could use such a policy. So yeah you may think I am being a jerk for reporting other fans to the Ushers, but you can hardly say they didn't deserve it.
