Missin Meast
Since this website has been nothing but Debbie Downskins , figured I'd put in my two cents .... WR's we have drafted since 2001 2001 Round 1 - Rod Garner Round 5- Darnerien McCants 2002 Round 3 - Cliff Russel 2003 Round 2 - Taylor Jacobs - We are 0 for 4 ... ALL BUSTS Took chances on 4 different guys. All 4 were terrible. Why should these be any different? Hopefully the difference will be to stick with Campbell and realize ONCE AGAIN he is learning a NEW OFFENSE .. Give him time & let him learn. Although I know we are all tired of waiting to win , and unfortunately by the time he does learn .. The clock might be over for Thomas and Kelly as Redskins .... Stophovr6
Took chances on 4 different guys. All 4 were terrible. Why should these be any different? Why shouldn't they? We haven't even seen Kelly play. I'm not one to defend drafting a guy with horrible knees, but you don't know he's a bust. You don't know Thomas is a bust. None of us know. ONE GAME PEOPLE. Titaw
Since we have to jump on rookies after their first game in the league, let's take a look at some current PRO-BOWL WR's numbers after their first game in their rookie season. Terrell Owens - 2 catches 6 yards (week 4) Chad Och Cinco - 2 catches 28 yards (week 3) Steve Smith - 1 catch 16 yards (week 1) Hines Ward - 1 catch 12 yards (week 1) Reggie Wayne - 1 catch 20 yards (week 5) Braylon Edwards - 2 catches 16 yards (week 1) Santana Moss - 0 catches 0 yards (week 10) I'm just sayin'. Ray Brown
this isn't even worth arguing because people love to hate and proclaim these guys busts before they even really step on the field or get a chance.

Missin Meast
I didnt say they were ALREADY a bust , I said .. why shouldnt this be any different? My point was ... we have been TERRIBLE with drafting WR's in the past ... this may be another offseason of which veteran can we bring in .... Bigmuss1
I am certainly not going to judge our recievers on a single game performance, even though two out of the three didn't play. But, it is frustrating to watch other rook receivers go out and perform. We come up with all of the excuses in the world of why our guys did what they did or did not do. How come they can't go in the game and just play? That's what Jackson and Royal did, it didn't matter about scheme or situations or any other garbage we come up with to defend our guys. Bottom line is the other guys just went and played. I will wait and see how they pan out, but for the love of God just go play!! With fire and heart!! It's football the best sport in the world, go and have a good time.

WOW, you are already looking to the offseason? I guess holding the giants to 16 and scoring half as many points as the pats did in the superbowl, isn't something that we can be just a little happy about. turbodiesel#44
I think they should get another year or two to finally pass the team's minimum conditioning test, then signed to long term contracts. From there, they can continue their development with JC, and in 2012 we can make a push to sweep the preseason under our QB guru HC, Colt Brennan. You can't rush these things people. Norvitis
Dude, you forgot to mention Michael Westbrook and Desmond Howard, two luminaries in the Redskins' pantheon of wideout busts. No doubt Thomas and Kelly will soon join them in the Hall of Failure.
scruffylookin
Our recent history of poor results with drafting receivers is not what makes me nervous regarding Thomas and Kelly, but rather the FACTS we have in front of us that some people just refuse to deal with. Fact: Thomas is having problems picking up the offense. Thomas is running bad patterns Thomas has not even "flashed" in a single game, even against "scrubs" in preseason Thomas has shown a fear of getting hit (something that even Sonny Jurgensen pointed out during one of the preseason games) Kelly is having knee issues already and hasn't even played yet So am I being "knee jerk" in calling both of the a bust right now? I guess and if folks want to say that...fine. But I do think that the concern that we (I) have with these two picks is well founded at this moment in time. Thomas because of performance. Kelly only because he was red flagged in the draft because of his knee and here we are dealing with his knee and he hasn't even played yet. I sure hope that at the end of the year both players are fine and do enough to show that they were fine picks we'll see.

Anyone who thought they would contribute immediatley were mistaken. Patience Please. Kelly had a simple knee scope. the same thing ARE had and is fine. He probably rushed himself back trying to go in the Jax game. He should play this week. I understand you're concerns, and yes they are valid, but lets give them more than a game please.
