Custer
When was the last time (BEtts??) we drafted an IMPACT player on offense? I watched Forte go for 50, saw Dallas' Jones hit the hole a couple of times. These teams have no where near our needs, yet they draft folks who impact in the first FREAKIN GAME..... Is our brain trust that feeble? I mean, Howard, Shuler, ad nauseum.... Look at our crop now, one catch for 4 yards in the first game..Now do we have to consider this a good draft?? scary as hell aint it..specially when Danny/Vinnie tell us we're rebuilding through the draft...I know of no Skins fan who can appreciate that... Why Caint we draft quality on Offense?? BTW, I am new to the site, but have been a skins fan since conception...
Ray Brown
evaluate the draft after 2 years, then come back and if its the same, post this. you can't evalutate a draft after A GAME. you say danny and vinny tell us were rebuilding through the draft, yeah we kept 10 draft picks on the squad this year. fans like you don't understand that it takes time to get these guys aquainted to the game, not just a game. #98QBKiller
WRs don't make immediate impacts like RBs do....look at Calvin Johnson.
jwsleep
We seriously DO NOT KNOW yet about our draft on offense. Give it some games. I know you want these young guys to step up now, but it doesn't always work that way. The injuries hurt us and we're trying to teach WRs/TEs to play a timing WC offense. It's very premature to call them busts.
skinsfanindallas88
RB is a relatively easy position...hold the ball and run mostly WR is a much MUCH more complicated position...and most don't make impact til their 3rd or 4th years...take a look at Braylon Edwards...stunk it up his first two years...now he's in the convo for the best young WR's in the league
dustinwhylee
WRs don't make immediate impacts like RBs do....look at Calvin Johnson. Then you could bring up the Eagles' second round receiver, Jackson. But you do bring up a good point. If Calving Johnson (and even Braylon Edwards, IMO) ain't ready, I'm not going to hate on Thomas and Kelly. Kelly hasn't even seen the field yet. So how can you bash him as a player? Thomas is concerning me though.
Thirtyfive2seven
Too early to tell if our draft picks on offense will be an impact or a non-factor. Week 1 in the NFL hasn't even concluded yet. 2 more games left this evening. Then we still have 6 more days until week 2. Wow.
tml6157
Yeah the Cooley guy sucks aint? How about Gibbs trading up out of nowhere and taking him in the 3rd round when other brilliant coaches (Parcells) called Cooley into his office and told he they wanted to draft him in the 7th for special teams use only. Yep your right we suck at drafting talent on offense

Cooley's Kidz
also keep in mind that even when we have had a 1st rounder that we have gone defense (besides jason campbell which was via trade). laron, carlos, st..... our last first rounder was patrick ramsey on offense in '02 and then gardner in '01 then you have to go back to '96 when we got Tre Johnson and in '95 got Michael Westbrook. So it's tough to say that we don't get offensive playmakers because hell we don't even draft offensive players in the first round if we even have a first round pick to begin with -edit: thought you were specifically talking about offensive guys drafted in the first round. i think it still goes back to us not having draft picks
westcoasthog
Didn't everyone know Thomas was going to take some more time to develop since he didn't play many years in college? I mean...hasn't that subject been talked about for months. Davis was inactive because of our DB situation and Kelly was hurt. Give it more than 1 game in these guys first year before you dump all over them. Give Davis a year or so to develop...guy could be huge. He's a playmaker and in a year or two the three of them should be sick!
McD5
Vinny and Dan. Next question?
gkekoa
RBs are a dime a dozen and the position is easy to learn. Take the ball, see a hole, and run. There are only a couple of RBs that can play no matter where they are and they are LT, AP, and Westbrook. These guys are true game changers; however, most other RBs production will be minimally impacted from person to person depending on their line. AP was fortunate enough to go to a team that has the best line in football. I would almost never take a RB in the first personally because their longevity. Games are won in the trenches and successful lineman are easier to scout early in the draft. A good line can make an average QB look good and an average RB look great. You used Felix Jones as an example and I'll counter with Terrell Davis. RBs is all about system and the line. Felix Jones will look good this year because nobody respects the Dallas running game because of how effective their passing game is. They never see 8 in the box. Forte took it to a poor run defense in INDY with solid offensive line play. We need to build this team by drafting the best available player and hopefully those players are part of the line. Posting some of the dumbest stuff ever on the internet? To even post this thread, posing your question, & leaving out our Pro Bowl TE that we drafted says a lot about you. And while you're at it, there's a spell check feature here. It looks like this: A/A. Please do us all a favor & learn to use it. Thanks.
bigyim
(sigh) I know I'm wasting my time, BUT... When was the last time (BEtts??) we drafted an IMPACT player on offense? Uh, 3 2nd round picks isn't enough of an effort for you? I watched Forte go for 50, saw Dallas' Jones hit the hole a couple of times. Forte is starting because the Bears drafted a disaster named Cedric Benson. Jones played extensively because of rib injury to Barber. So, what point were you exactly trying to make? These teams have no where near our needs, yet they draft folks who impact in the first FREAKIN GAME..... So, Kelly, Davis and Thomas are total busts because they didn't contribute in their first game and, for you, 1 game makes a career. Right. Is our brain trust that feeble? I mean, Howard, Shuler, ad nauseum.... You're going back to Gibbs I to prove that our CURRENT front office isn't competent in assessing offensive talent?? Stop. Just stop. Look at our crop now, one catch for 4 yards in the first game..Now do we have to consider this a good draft??scary as hell aint it..specially when Danny/Vinnie tell us we're rebuilding through the draft...I know of no Skins fan who can appreciate that... Many people on this site appreciated the Skins actually using all of their draft picks this year...and actually trading down to accumulate more picks. Perhaps you need to expand the number/quality of Skins fans you know? Why Caint we draft quality on Offense??BTW, I am new to the site, but have been a skins fan since conception... ...and about as short-lived as the conception process, apparently.
