GoSkins561
Some of you might have seen this last night, I am actually suprised there is not a thread about it already. Last year we saw Jake Brown (thanks pb) fall 50 feet to the flat what is considered the "greatest slam" in skateboarding history. Danny Way the inventor of the mega ramp slams very hard (2x) and recovers to continue his runs and finish 2nd in The Big Air comp. must see

Ellis
Danny Way is the MAN!!! Dude... watching that last night... incredible. You couldn't help but wish he'd get 1st place over all. But he got 2nd. And it was nice to see Jake skating again after that vicious bail last year. The Big Air competition is the best!
PleaseBlitz
I think you mean Jake Brown. Jake Long is the 320 lb monster offensive tackle for the Phins. If he had fallen from 50 feet, the arena would have imploded.

If Burqnquist turns that 360 into a 540, he gets second place instead of first. Pretty amazing how he landed blind 2x.
ACW
crazy stuff, were you watching it live?Nope. Thanks for posting it though The Jake Brown fall: http://www.break.com/index/jake-brown-falls-over-50ft.html Forget skating, he's lucky to be ALIVE. From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jake_Brown#Mega_ramp_fall he was the 1/10 to survive that high a fall.
KingGibbs
I was watching this last night. The things these guys do on boards and bikes are mind boggling and very under appreciated. My kids actually know Travis Pastrana which I think is pretty cool. One thing I've noticed about these guys is that they look much older then they are. I never thought I would see the day when someone on a skateboard is pulling a rocket air back flip over a 70 foot gap followed by a mctwist on a 50 foot quater pipe. Notice how there isn't a long line for the "Big air" comp.

GoSkins561
Dude, tonight, Big Air BMX is going to be sick. Wussies, just kidding, if I remember correctly, they actually launch from the lower points and hit the ramp in the middle, but don't get quite as high as the skateboarders. Fergasun
Hey fell twice and still got 2nd? No penalties for falling?
ffxdrummer
Hey fell twice and still got 2nd? No penalties for falling? Nah, 5 runs, best score is used. Falls are a score of 1.0 (I think). So you can fall 4 out of 5 times, get a 94.0 on the 5th run, and win with a 94.0.

GoSkins561
They get quite a bit higher. for some reason they hit the smaller gap, which is probably why I remember them getting half as high as the skateboarders. I would imagine the large gap would throw them to far. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=inRKeSS8Ep0&feature=related

GoSkins561
Sorry, i thought we were talking vert, not big air. :dunce: Yeah you would think the bikes would hit 30' in the big air, they barely hit 15.
