What, no Favre thread?

Favre tossed more than 4,000 yards last season and the Packers averaged 27.2 points per game behind him, which was 4th in the ENTIRE NFL, only behind the Colts, Pats and Cowboys!!!

LazerWager.com correctly predicted that Big Brown would lose the Belmont Stakes (and he did as a HUGE favorite) and that Fderer vs Nadal has NO favorite and would go to the wire (it went ALL 5 sets with Nadal winning)!!!

They're a sportsbook, maybe they have some inside info, and are right about Fave coming to Washington too. Either Way, the guy is still better then at least 26 of the starting QBs!

Michael Smith is a ****ing idiot. He tries so hard to sound like he understands the game when he's nothing more than an Around The Horn flunkie. The only reason he comes off as smart is because he sits next to Mark Schlereth. Even George W would come off as intelligent sharing a set with Schlereth.

You complete morons act like Dilfer is the guy we are talking about here.....Good Lord!

Brett is considered to be a top 5 or top 10 QB.........of ALL time!freakin' idiots!!

I swear we got some really dumb Redskin fans here!

Look...I like JC too,but the only thing he has done consistently so far is throw late game INT's...

Do you really think we make the Playoffs if Collins is not playing QB the last 4 games?Give me a freakin' break!

Not only do we immediately go from a 8-8/9-7 contender with a new head coach, added offensive weapons and the same defense with some holes plugged in..............

We have a QB that truly "fights his guts out" with his record of games started and a guy that improvises on a fly...

We land Brett and I guarentee 10 wins at the worst!!

Favre with a Portis, betts,Moss,El,Kelly,Thomas,Cooley and Davis...Are you kidding me?

Then Favre can get his revenge against the Cowboys!

Sign him up DAN!!I'm on board...

Seriously, to say Favre is 38 so we don't need him is TOTALLY retarded...I'll GUARANTEE you that JC never has a 4,000 yard season...Favre did it last year at 37!!!

GB doesn't want to release Favre, but if they don't, they have to PAY HIS CONTRACT...

They won't pay him to watch Rodgers run the offense! So, they will let him go, they have no choice.

LazerWager.com might be right about this...again!

Couldnt have said it better myself. Bringing Favre here would make us instantly better. I love JC as well, but lets not kid ourselves here. Our team is getting pretty old and in a few years we are going to need an overhaul of the o line IMO. If we get Favre I seriously believe we could contend in the NFC based on his stats last year. Could he revert back to throwing 28 ints? Absolutely, but we have no idea how JC is going to do and him sitting on the bench for another year certainly wouldn't be the end of the world.

JC will NEVER have a 4,000 yard season...Favre did it again last year at 37 years old...big deal, now he's 38...The Pack averaged 27.2 points per game last year...4th in the entire NFL.

Yahoo! news just posted that Favre asked to be released today from GB!!!

LazerWager.com might have called this one right too!!!

.....Point is, they don't run a West Coast Offense. Being a former coach of anything in any sense doesn't mean much if the environment and the system changes.

Hey bro just pointing out that facts......

Vikings find solid fit for West Coast offense in Booty

Associated Press

Sporting News Pro Football 2008 (Magazine)

Kevin Seifert, Minneapolis Star-Tribune

"Offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell utilizes a run-oriented version of the West Coast offense....."

I think if you're gonna correct somebody you should know what you're talking about

I believe the brightest future we have at this very moment is Brennan..

the grass is always greener huh?

I hope Colt becomes a NFL caliber QB. But he seems to be nothing more than Jim Zorn's long term project, in a way he's no different then say...medium_Devine.jpg

"Zorn, now Washington's head coach, last year raved about Devine's arm strength and ability...."

http://blog.oregonlive.com/nfl/2008/05/derek_devine_gets_shot_with_wa.html

"And quarterback coach Jim Zorn is eating him[Devine]up as a result. Zorn knows a little bit about being a free-spirited undrafted quarterback filled with an irrepressible approach, great legs and a strong arm.

It had at least something to do with why he called Devine after looking at his film.

“He’s coming right along,” Zorn said. “When he first got here, he was stiff as a piece of cardboard. He’s really loosened up. He’s dropping real smoothly now. The thing I haven’t done a thing with is his ball speed. It’s really good and he’s very accurate in his throws.

“His big deal is we’re just trying to get our starter and backup enough reps where they feel ready. The rest of the guys get not just leftovers, but very few reps. He’s very patient and he understands what’s going on. He’s ready when asked and he studies very, very hard. He’s absorbing a lot. If you don’t see him in there, it’s not because he doesn’t know. Some guys you keep out of there because they’re not ready. He can run the show.”

Awesome! Yeah! Because the quick fix has worked so well for us the past decade!

We aren't talking about Bruce Smith, Deion Sanders, or Mark Brunell. If Favre had a sub par year last season I would obviously say no. The fact is that the guy produces and I believe that the weapons we have on this team are comparable to what he had in Green Bay. Him learning a system shouldn't take him too much time either because its the WCO and he's been in the league long enough to learn a variation of another, even if he only has a month or so to do it. Im all over this move. Cmon Dan, make this happen!

Signing Favre would accomplish two things:

1. Excite the heck out of a ton of Skins fans and

2. Pretty much put an end to JC's career. Sitting for two more years would do NOTHING for him. If we sign Favre, I'm sure JC asks for a trade immediately. Could you blame him?

:2cents:

Ok, Ill go down this road with you really quickly. I love "If" games.

Lets say we sign him and both the things you say get accomplished end up happening, then we trade Campbell for a decent pick or player and we STILL have a Colt in the stable (really no pun intended) and we can always re-sign the ghost of Sam Hollenbach who seems to haunt our offseason programs on a yearly basis.

We also have a Collins who is a tire with a lot of tread left on it. He really hasnt taken many big hits in his career and performed fairly well (Think Trent Dilfer for the Ratbirds in 2000) when Campbell went down. Collins is a commodity and would have been a coveted FA had he hit the market. The Brennan move didnt rub me the right way at first, but if JC flounders or doesnt improve then we may need a couple contingency plans.

Lots of options even if signing Favre did happen, and in each case it seems to better the team. Favre would only be here for a year or two, but i guarentee it would be the piece that would get us over the hump of losing in the first round, and I think it would be a good thing.

With that said, Id prefer Campbell just to do well this season and validate my stance that we dont need good Ol Brett.

WSSP radio in Milwaukee reports that the Vikings have made initial inquiries about Brett Favre, "pending his release from the Packers."

The station's website claims it will have more about the story in the coming future. Minnesota could and should have interest in Favre, but we strongly doubt that Favre will be released. If the Vikings want him as a potential one- or two-year fix, they'll probably have to come up with a trade package. Favre's agent, Bus Cook, brokered the Steve McNair deal (Baltimore sent Tennessee a conditional fourth-rounder for McNair in '06) two offseasons ago, so he has experience dealing with this sort of thing.

If the Packers trade Brett to Minny, then Green Bay would deserve everything that is coming to them this season. It really does look like a lose/lose situation for Green Bay. I think the house of carrds falls when the King of Spades goes.

#1)We sign Favre as starter...

#2)Campbell remains backup behind Favre,in case of injury or so(which doesn't happen to favre)

#3)Collins becomes 3rd string

#4)Colt gets put on "IR" because that recovery isn't going as Planned...lol

If next year Favre wants to stick around, then we let Collins go and bring up Colt!

If by some chance Favre went down during the season, then Campbell can come in and earn his spot!(which other than his draft status, has not done...IMO)

This is what I would do anyways....

Putting Colt on the practice squad would be about as stupid as the fans here not wanting Brett....

There's no need to trade campbell what so ever....!

But if they did....Maybe get Jason Taylor and a conditional draft pick for Campbell...(if that is even possible)

"Worse idea in the long sad history of bad ideas."

Why would this be a bad idea?

Favre had an amazing season last year with less overall talent offensively than we currently have. With #4 we are an instant contender. Without him we are 9-7 at best and realistically 7-9.

JC showed signs of potential but also threw a lot of game ending INTs. My sentiment is that this season would be JC's make or break season so one season holding the clipboard would be beneficial.

I know that it is probably going to be viewed as unpopular on this site but it is just my opinion.

As I asked in another thread, do you think Gibbs would've been interested in making a play for Favre if he had stayed on as coach one more season? And if so, would your opinion on whether we should go after Favre have been different than it is today with our first-year coach?
