Should Jerry Smith and Larry Brown be in the Hall of Fame?

Larry was great during his time but George Allen burned him out early. Everyone knew the Skins were going to run the ball on first down and they knew who was getting the ball. This accounts for his less than stellar YPC at 3.8 and only 35 career rushing touchdowns. He also only had two 1,000 yard rushing seasons although a missed game in 1971 may have prevented him from having a third.

Larry played through a lot of injuries and was probably one of the toughest running backs to ever play the game. Unfortunately, these days his numbers just don't compare and he didn't quite have the longevity you'd look for in a Hall of Famer.

As for Hanburger and Smith, I think both deserve to be in and are long overdue.

I would say Jerry Smith does,I thought he retired with most of the Tight End receiving records. Larry Brown didn't have the longevity to be a Hall of Famer. Not winning a Championship really hurt both their chances.

To me, Chris Hanburger might be the top oversight among former Redskins.

NINE Pro Bowls is a compelling number.

There are 17 linebackers currently in the Hall of Fame, and only 3 were Pro Bowlers more times than Hanburger:

Joe Schmidt, Lions

Mike Singletary, Bears

Lawrence Taylor, Giants.

(Each were selected 10 times.)

Especially considering that the Pro Bowl wasn't as much of a popularity contest back then.

Good research.

Okay, now I'm starting to get pissed off.
