CallMeGreen
I won't bomb you for the trading picks thing, but I will tell you that no, we cannot do that.Compensatory picks cannot be traded. 3rd is a day 2 pick starting this year I commend both of you for offering up these corrections in such a "gentle" manner. No attacks, no insults, no problem. Well done. And I didn't know you couldn't trade comp picks either.
jistardy
Just wondering I have no knowledge how this all works. Could there be one for the loss of the greatest #21 ever? Or is that not considered a loss to the committee.
pjfootballer
If it ends up being true, that would be sweet.
Oldskool
Just wondering I have no knowledge how this all works. Could there be one for the loss of the greatest #21 ever? Or is that not considered a loss to the committee. Unfortunately I believe that comp. picks are only given for players that leave via Free Agency. Tragedies such as Taylor's death are not covered IIRC.
TheLongshot
I heard it's a complex equation that involves 1. How many people did you lose as FA that you drafted? 2. How many people did you gain as FA that you stole from the team that drafted them? 3. How much playing time did they get? 4. What was their salary compared to the league average? 5. Where was the player originally drafted? Not sure if that's true or not, just what I've heard. Read the initial post of that thread for the theory of what goes into assigning these picks. nonniey
It would be great for us to get a 3rd rounder but I wonder if combination of resigning Fred Smoot along with the Fletcher Signing negates this.I thought total value of contracts somehow plays into this. Smoot or any player that was cut does not count in the equation (ie Patton).
Sawyer5500
Wait, why would we just be receiving this pick now? Shouldn't we have gotten it last year when Dockery left? Does it usually take 2 years to get the comp pick? In that case do we get a pick for Sean Taylor next off season?
dmcthe2nd
I really believe the league should make some exemptions for us in the wake of Taylors death. i.e. comp. draft pick and salary cap relief
The Sisko
We got Kendall in a trade so that won't factor in. Good point. Let's just hope you're right. :fingersx: :fingersx: :fingersx: :fingersx:
dfbovey
I really hope this is true. We would have all of our picks and when is the last time that happened?? II just hope they keep the picks, and that they don't use this as a rationale to go after someone like Chad Johnson.
Seabee1973
he don't need hiro from heroes and his time hopping ability  if he can go forward a play or 2 and make the RB fumble or the QB throw an INT every once inawhile im all for it:laugh:
Forever21
Wow...I have no understanding at all about how these compensation picks work but I'll take an extra 3rd rounder!
Seabee1973
Smoot or any player that was cut does not count in the equation (ie Patton). they wouldnt count for the cutting team but once they are cut they become free agents so i think that would factor into the eqaution though im not sure. SkinsManNJ
This would be great. If what the man says turns out to be true then I will be a happy mofo. Assuming we use our picks wisely.
abdcskins
This is the best news I have ever read on this board. I hope it turns out to be true, and that we keep these picks(like Mel Kiper says we should ) and use them wisely. We haven't had all our picks since 2002. Tastes Like Chicken
Wow, this would be fantastic if true. I say, use both picks on some mammoth, mauling linemen.
#1skinsfanever
Don't get too excited, this is just one guy's prediction. The NFL will announce the picks at the end of march from what I understand. Hopefully this guy is right, though. agreed :wish:

I say we bundle them with our 1st and 2nd rounders and move up and take the number one pick from Miami and draft McFadden!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! dizzinator53
I say we bundle them with our 1st and 2nd rounders and move up and take the number one pick from Miami and draft McFadden!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why the hell do that when we could find a way to get Peterson instead... I mean if we are going to waste 4 picks on a guy that did the same thing as Reggie Bush in College.... Run really fast and kick ass.
