I keep getting this email about John McCain

Helter_Skelter

I've gotten this email about 10 times over the past two days. Take it for what its worth.

This needs to be in the hands of every Freedom Loving American.

McCain crashed 5 jets, plus he was responsible for the horrible USS Forrestal fire In 1967. Surviving crewmen and those who investigated the Forrestal fire case reported that McCain deliberately 'wet-started' his A-4E Skyhawk to shake up the guy in the F-4 Phantom behind his A-4. 'Wet-starts', done either deliberately (the starter motor switch allowed kerosene to pool in the engine and give a wet start) or accidentally, shoot a large flame from the tail of the aircraft. In McCain's case, the 'wet-start' 'cooked off' and launched the M34 Zuni rocket from the rear F-4 that punctured the Skyhawk's fuel tank, knocked the M-65 1000 lb. bomb off it's 500 lb. rated mount, and touched off the explosions and massive fire. The F-4 pilot was reportedly killed in the conflagration, along with 167 of his fellow Forrestal shipmates (including those who died later from wounds suffered). 'Wet starting' was a common practice among young 'hot-dog' pilots. McCain was quickly (they were still counting the Forrestal dead) transferred to the USS Oriskany (the only Forrestal crewman to be immediately transferred).

Description: XA4D-1 Skyhawk BuNo 137812 experiencing a wet start (note the pool of JP4 on the ground and the tongue of flame from the tailpipe). Do you need more - This is only a tip of the Iceberg!!! http://www.skyhawk.org/5e/g137812/html/137812i.htm

Sounds like a smear campaign to me. If I remember correctly it was ordanance going off because of an elecrtical charge that caused the forrestal(forest fire for those in the navy) to burn.

i would take that for what its worth..obama being pissy and trying to kill a juggernaut.

There is absolutely no evidence to suggest Obama had anything to do with this email.

With that said . . . yes it's a bunch of crap and quite obviously a smear.

I would also add that you can't really call McCain a juggernaut given his lukewarm response from his own party :D

I think this was just after the time that Ron Paul bravely served his country as a physician during the Cuban Missile Crisis. (According to the radio ad I heard at least.)

Hey, it's a shame they can't all be brave surgeons during the Cuban Missile Crisis. But I think sharting in the ****pit of his A-4E deserves some credit though, doesn't it?

You're absolutely right, there is no proof linking Obama to this piece.

That being said, you can bet it's his supporters. Clinton is too busy trying to paive off Obama in the nomination (which she'll lose) and McCain has all but wrapped up the republican nomination (which means the other republican nominees will start getting behind him and stop smearing). So that kind of limits the options :D

Okay with that said . . . I officially 'denounce and reject' this smear campaign.

Seems more like something the right-wing (who hates McCain BTW) has been doing for years now.

I haven't met or seen one Obama supporter question McCain's patriotism and character.

That's what I mean . . . I like McCain a lot, but I feel like he was a much better candidate in 2000 . . . a year in which I really wish he could have been elected.

But I definitely have nothing but respect for the guy and wouldn't be in the same depressed state I was with Bush if he is elected.

I'm pretty sure the thread starter is an Obama fan.

Nothing against Obama, but in politics, nobody only has supporters that are of a high moral and ethical standard, especially somebody on the verge of winning the nomination.

If that was true, this country would be in a much better state.

In fairness to Cav I would say that I think he intended that thread to point out the hypocrisy of a few of the posters on here attacking Obama on issues that don't really have any merit. I don't think it came off well however and I don't really agree with it.

I wonder how he'd feel if I posted an article that was patently false, but included one accurate Obama quote. He admitted to doing exactly that to McCain in that thread, and IMO, lost any and all credibility.

Cav wrote the book on hypocrisy.

That's why I said I disagreed with both the content and the approach. I was just clarifying that I don't think his INTENT was to smear although that is what the end result was.

Cav is a Dem first and foremost. He's just jumped on the Obama bandwagon the last week or two or so; after it had begun to look more and more like Obama was going to get the nom. I wouldn't really classify him as an "Obama person." If that makes sense. That's how I see it anyway. I think the people who have really followed the campaign and have emotionally invested themselves in it are following Obama's lead and trying to stay above all the nonsense. Like this email here.
