Cowboys will land DeAngelo Hall

Watch and see. This is whats going on right now in Cowturd land..

Working on a new contract for Hamlin that will lower his CAP hit. Negotiating with Barber and also reworking TO's contract right now. Besides, the signing of Thomas is about to result in a trade. Watch what I am saying closely on this in the next few days. Dallas has way too many inside LBs right now.

Look for Bobby Carpenter or Akin Ayodele to be traded along with draft picks for D'Angelo Hall. I'm thinking it will be Ayodele since he thrived in Mike Smith's (Atlanta head coach) defense in Jacksonville.

Dallas does need help in the secondary. Other than Terrence Newman the team doesn't have a DB that has the first clue in man coverage.

While you may think the Cowboys are working on a megadeal, be careful of giving Jones too much credit.

With Parcells gone, he may very well have acquired Thomas because of his name appeal as anything else.

The Cowboys are going to run a 3-4 in 2008 so the fact they have added another LB is hardly that surprising.

I'm willing to put my credibility on the line here. PS, Thomas is from Texas and JJ loves him some Texas boys.

Well Hall would be an upgrade for Dallas, however am I the only one that thinks that he's overrated? Sure he runs his mouth, and sure there he's been hyped up for years. But he gets burned waaay too much for someone demanding the type of money he wants. We'll see how it plays out, but i'm not sure if I would want him on my team. NO THANKS.

I agree that Carp and Akin are expendable(if anything, AA was a liability to our D, even more so than Roy-heck, at least Roy will make a play ONCE in awhile, while Akin gets blown up ALL the time).

However-I spit on the idea of Hall wearing the star.:2cents:

Jones was coherent enough to resign Gurode (pro bowl) and Columbo.

THen went out and signed Hamlin (Pro Bowl), Davis (pro bowl).

Then was smart enough to give a new clause to Ellis (Pro bowl).

I think he is doing ok.

Worry about the dan.

Until i see this rumour coming from a credible source ie. not draftdaddy.com (the same site that already claimed the giants had traded for hall) I am not believing it. Also other sites have claimed the giants have the best offer on the table, so why would the cowboys be the ones doing contract talks? I think this is just hogwash right now, just a bunch of unfounded rumours, speculation and talk of interested teams. I can't see dallas paying for hall, getting flozell back and keeping their core guys without going over the cap this year. Hall wants 10 mill a year apparently. Canty and barber deserve their longterm contracts as does hamlin and flozell will get paid big time somewhere, leaving the cowboys with a completely untested young LT. Then there is still the signing of draft picks and other FA pickups, I don't see how 15 mill covers a LT, strarting RB, first round pick and other draft picks, franchised FS, deangelo hall, and a starting Dlineman. Just my thoughts.

FWIW-I heard from my brother's doctor's cousin's mistress' bookie's uncle's lover that Hall was going to be traded to the Niners for 3 #1's + Patrick Willis.:D

Someone sounds a little nervous of the prospects of all that occurring. ;)

Hell yeah i would be. To resgin a probowl LT, a young probowl FS, trade to get a young probowl corner to go along with another young probowl corner then resgin a young up and coming dlinemen and a stud powerback all while staying under 15 million would be an amazing feat. I don't see how it is feasible, especially with the cowboys "interested" in Randy moss and javon walker right now as well. Lol, its the offseason. Last offseason Reese talked to mgahee, leanonard davis and schafer of the browns. He signed kawika mithcell and traded a waterboy for reuben droughns. I have learned not to get all caught up in this and have been laughing at every supposed rumour that comes up, just like the fitz to philly rumour (never would happen even the cards aren't that dumb).

You forgot nate clements in that deal, lol. I remember a few years back there was this rumour on a whole pile of sites that the jaguars had offered their entire draft in order to move into the top 5 and pick a WR prospect, I believe it was fitzgerald. Now with the way the jags draft WRs it might actually have been a good idea (it would of been their only hit) but there is no way a team would do that, well at least not one that drafts well on defense and oline like they do and not in this day and age.

Youre a smart man ptr, which is why I enjoy your posts.

Methinks that Hamlin, Adams, Canty and Barber all get extended at some point and that Hall, Walker and Moss DO NOT end up in Dallas.

Although Jones has been known to make the splashy move, I just can't see any other "stars" being brought in, UNLESS its a great financial deal for Dallas.

That said, he did land Thomas on the cheap, so who knows.

What I do know is that Canty is MY #1 priority. When he gets done, I'll sleep a lot easier.

Canty is a good player. I remember reading the draft profiles on the guy and wondering why he went so late. Ernie Acorsci had great words about him after the draft and said something to the tune that he was hoping he would pick him up late (should of went with his gut and got him earlier). Dlinemen in the 3-4 never get the recognition they deserve. I'll tell you right now i don't see the giants picking up anyone big either. If they resign mitchell, and wilson I am punped. If they somehow can lure torbor and ward back for cheap, i am estactic, then all reese has to do is have a good draft and watch the guys fight it out at camp.

The one thing i see being a probem for your cowboys is flozell, the man is a great LT but a penalty machine. However I figure at least 2 LTs are going to drop into the second round and last year they probably would of been first round talents. The cowboys could get a franchise LT at either first round pick imo, and if jones believes in the guys he helped draft he should let Flozell decide what he wants to do. I hope there are some growing pains with a young LT though...

Maybe but Carpenter can't be considered to be worth more than peanuts at this point.

For one, Carp was never a 3-4 OLB pass-rushing specialist to begin with-his strengths are at 4-3 ILB. If, let's say, he becomes the Saints' ILB, that would be a HUGE upgrade to their D.

Anyhow-was over at the Giants' MB just now, they seem to think the GMen have the biggest inside track on him now. So this is going to get VERY interesting.:2cents:

He isn't either a 3-4 or a 4-3 guy unless completely covered up. He is a noninstinctual react guy who isn't fast enough on the outside and doesn't read quick enough on the inside. Plus he is Roy Williams bad in coverage.:2cents:

I think he could be a jeremiah trotter. Put him as an A gap attacking blitzer every play and you would get some real results from him. The guy can pass rush and when he came out he was a massive 265, why not have him attacking inside every snap just like the eagles used trotter? I think he could fit a 4-3 if he was utilized like that, as for the 3-4 he just doesn't seem to have the instincts.

As for your G-Men, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. They just need to resign their key FA's, which arent many, and continue to draft well. Sadly for me, theyve been doing that well of that and its paid off.

As for Dallas, of course I'd love to keep Flo, but I don't want to break the bank for him. He's solid for sure, but they didnt draft McQuistan, Free and Marten to ride the pine. Sooner or later we're going to have to see if they can cut it or not.

And if Flo does price himself out of Dallas, oh, say to Dallas Southeast, thankfully and luckily, this is the deepest and most talented draft at the OT spot in the last 15-20 years.

Talented and respected, but aging veterans are let go from time to time. It's all about letting them go at the right time however. And while I truly do want Flo back (at a reasonable contract length and amount), if he isn't, it wasnt meant to be and I'm ready to see what we have.

Do you think you have the personnel that could afford having your MLB blitzing every down? I don't, your team like most relies on him to be a tackle machine with occasional blitzing.

I can't say as I blame you, he has always been underrated. If they did/do give him the highest qualifying offer he won't be going any where this year.

I don't want him going anywhere, ever.

He is going to be crucial to the future of the defensive front in Dallas.

Keeping him in Dallas is the #1 priority in my book. He is a very talented player with incredible potential and a bright future ahead of himself which he is just realizing now.

Dallas can cash in at a decent price now, before he blows up and potentially breaks the bank (see Justin Tuck -- excellent extension by NYG)

My team? No way. I was being hypothetical. No team in the league runs a defense like that. The eagles did it with trotter and the few times he wasn't sitting in the A gap or blitzing through it and in pursuit in the backfield he was sitting in the middle of the field being useless (could not cover). I think he could at least find a niche in short yardage and goalline packages as well as being a capable blitzing mlb. Thats just not what wade wants in a ilb.
