Congratulations on being named the Redskins GM! What would you do in 2008?

My $.02:

Hire Josh McDaniels as the next head coach.

1. He's from Canton, Ohio

2. Was formerly a defensive backs assistant

3. Has experience running an offense

For 2008 the players share of Defined Gross Revenue for the NFL is 57.5%. With total Defined Gross Revenue expected to be $6,455,652,174, each teams salary cap will be roughly $116 million. Currently our cap figure comes to about $136.4 million. Time for the notorious cuts and restructurings.

Players to be cut prior to April 2:

Phillip Daniels: $2.99 mill. savings

Cornelius Griffin: $1.65 mill. savings

Shawn Springs: $2.52 mill. savings

Marcus Washington: $2.4 mill. savings

Total 2008 cap savings from cut players comes to $9.56 million, still $10.84 million over cap.

Players restructured via converting base salary to signing bonuses (prorated over the remaining life of the contract)

Chris Samuels: $3.5 mill. converted, with a net savings for 2008 of $2.626 mill.

Jon Jansen: $3.98 mill. converted, with a net avings for 2008 of $2.985 mill.

Clinton Portis: $4.049 mill. converted, with a net avings for 2008 of 3.037 mill.

Santana Moss: $2.25 mill. converted, with a net avings for 2008 of 1.688 mill.

Casey Rabac: $1.75 mill. converted, with a net savings for 2008 of 1.167 mill.

Randy Thomas: $4.38 mill. converted, with a net savings for 2008 of $3.285 mill.

Total 2008 cap savings from restructurings: $14.788 million plus $9.56 million from player cuts comes to $24.348 in cap savings! Were now $3,948,000 under the 2008 cap just in time for April 26 and 27.

Round 4: To DEN for the Duckett debacle (I wasn't GM then, sorry)

Round 5: OT Franklin Dunbar, Middle Tennessee State

Round 6: OLB Andy Studebaker, Wheaton

Round 7: WR Lance Leggett, Miami

First off, who takes Washington's spot? The guy was banged up last year but until he proves otherwise, still a gamer. I'd draft someone to replace him but I don't think HB Blades or anyone else for that matter is ready and would do as good as he would this coming year.

Secondly, restructuring helps the present cap but it also commits you to that particular player longer. You've restructured four OL contracts (ie given big signing bonuses) and have another big one to sign with your first rounder. I don't think the math for that works long term.

its too complicated to explain here

With the D cuts you made you better draft a DE and a CB with your first 2 picks and probably in that order. We cant overpay for Samuel(NE) or Trufant(SEA).Try and shop Lloyd for any pick you can get.

As for coach,Mooch would be a good fit with the staff in place already.

Ummm, so after you're through, our Defensive Tackles are Anthony Montgomery, Kedrick Golston, Lorenzo Alexander and Ryan Boschetti? Eeep.

And our corners are Fred Smoot, Carlos on one knee, Leigh Torrence and John Eubanks? Duupe.

Oh right, and our linebackers are London Fletcher-Baker, Rocky (whenever his knee feels right), and.....Godfrey? Blades? Ummm, where's Anthony Trucks?

Congrats, sir, you just gutted our defense.

Oh, and we lose a 4th rounder next year for kendall, not a 3rd this year.

Geez! I would hire Bill Cowher, keep Cartwright, get rid of all the quarterbacks but Campbell and keep Collins. Then, tell Danny and Vinny to go clean the women's restrooms that are always out of paper and flooding the stadium! Great service for the high bucks we pay! I am totally disgusted after numerous years of being a season ticket holder. He has certainly ruined the relationships and morale the team had before Gibbs retired! Just like Cruise, he loves the limelight and is holding off so he can be mentioned during the SuperBowl!

if i was appointed GM due to my awesome franchise management skills on Madden, I would bring in Stephen Hawking to bring us this lineup - all in their prime.

Scouting - Bobby Mitchell (SHOULD BE THE GM!!!!)

HC- Joe Gibbs (first time around)

OC - Paul Brown (early version of WC offense and Coryell offense)

DC - George Allen

O-line - JOE BUGEL - now, then need I say more?

D-line - Dexter Manley

LB's - Wilbur Marshall

CB's - D. Green

S - Pat Fischer

RB's - Riggo or Bobby Mitchell

ST's - Brian Mitchell as long as he could never talk to Danny or the media

Also, I would call Vinny to buy the naked pictures he has of Danny at that one frat party at UM in the 70's so I could share the same job security he has. That and I want a team of trained assassins in case Monk gets screwed from the hall again. I'm waiting for the phone to ring Danny...
