Dan, If you see this: If its between Fassel and Mooch, we want mooch! (stats inside)

As fans of this organization, we want to start looking at the big picture. While continuity may have been hard to develop with the Gibbs regime, there are a few key things that hiring Steve Mariucci could do for this franchise. For one, he is only 53. He is only a little bit older than most of the candidates you have interviewed and he is 6 years younger then the rumored favorite. He has plenty of room to grow and analyze his career. Throw away Detroit because Belicheck himself, would be 6-10 there. Mooch has been there and done that, and values leadership. While he had a few tough seasons like any coach, he never "lost" a team like our rumored favorite. Here are just a few more reasons for Mooch:

*4 top 5 finishes in takeaway to giveaway ratios

*3 top 5 finishes in point differential in wins (bye bye to second half collapses)

* 5 top 2 finishes in fumbles lost!! (See the trend? no turnovers)

*5 top 10 finishes in rushing touchdowns (hello, CP)

* Twice finished seasons #1 in rushing yards per attempt, while finishing in the top 10 two other times

*3 top 3 finishes in least interceptions thrown

* 4 top 5 finishes in net passing yards per game

* two division championships

*a 13 win season and two 12 win seasons

In addition, he may be best known for the development of Brett Favre

In conclusion, Yes he has had some down years. But to be this young and already have had that much of a past to work from, the sky really could be the limit. He is right now the same age that most coaches get their first shot. His resume is stacked.. if we cant have Gibbs or Gregg, we want Mooch! Hiring Mooch would also be a security blanket for Campbell in the case that Zorn becomes the next overnight celebrity coordinator and gets linked to the Seattle job.

Totally agree, Mooch would be a great hire Fassell is already up there in age and he got fired by his own friend that alone should raise up red flags. Steve has also dealt with the whole TO Drama in San Fran and is a likeable coach give him a chance Detroit is a big whole in the ground.

Ernie Accorsi was quoted year ago in a New York news paper "To this day, I still dont know what our game plan was in the super bowl." I dont want him running the skins.

Detroit was god awful when Mooch was there. If anything it speaks to his courage to take that job.

Hi guys,

This is Dan Snyder, using Aston's account. Just wanted to thank you all for supporting us during this time of indecision. And don't worry about all the threads about me being to total jack*****. No offense taken.

Based solely on this thread, I'll make my decision and interview Mooch tomorrow.

Thanks for the advice,

DS

I'm a Cal fan and he coached the Bears for a year, before crossing the bay to take the 49ers job. He was loved by his players and the fans at Cal, and he'd be much better than Fassel.

This seems to be the sentiment every where he has been. He could also go a long way in reparing the Redskins image to the media since he is so media savvy and has great relationships with the media now since working with them. It's hard to not root for the guy.

If it is between those two no trophies then I have lost all hope. Aw hell what does it matter anyway. Whatever coach comes in doesn't have control of the roster, offense or defense so what the hell difference does it make anyway.

None of the guys interviewed have trophies as head men

Gregg W-0

Meeks-0 (waiting for his shot, unproven)

Fassel-0

Schwartz-0 waiting for his shot, unproven)

Carrol-0

While Mariucci doesnt have a ring, he also doesnt have a history of losing control of his teams and he brings offensive stability to a franchise that has been above average on defense. He's the same age or even younger than those interviewed so he is still a baby in NFL terms. His chances of winning a ring would be better than anyone interviewed.

PS Mark this is Todd Collins checking in from styx's account... Thanks for making sure my Gatorade was comfortably cold all last season. I don't know how you did it, but you are a miracle worker! Oh and say hi to Scott for me.
