88Comrade2000
One of the reason allegedly for not announcing a potential hire is that we don't want to interfere with superbowl week. How is that interfering? A hire is a minor event nationally. You could announce it Thursday or Friday and it wouldn't interfere much with the superbowl press. Those are usually slow news days. Today: Tuesday is media day. Think tommorow, the coaches have their press conference. Then, only big news events the rest of the week are Friday's State of the NFL address and Saturday's Hall of Fame announcement. What would be cool: Russ Grimm gets the Hall of Fame nomination on Saturday and we are told , he will also be the coach!
rellix
1) Snyder wants as much attention as possible. More attention = more profit. 2) You can't hire a man under contract with the NFL network (or less likely, a defensive coordinator in the SB) until after the SB. Stadium-Armory
And frankly, NOT hiring a coach causes more swirl. Hire someone, they'll talk about it for a day or two, and it'll be over. Unless of course they are coaches who are on teams playing the game - then the rulez apply.
Fan since a Fetus
Because it is going to be Mooch and they don't want the NFL Network taking away from the programming and the big game so that he can discuss his new job with Deion and Rich. I am sure they just want to focus on the SuperBowl. This is why Danny told Goodell that he wouldn't announce the hiring until afterwards. Just a hunch! Forever21
Snyder is a business man and is a part of the NFL machine, thus.. he won't want to take any hype away from the Superbowl, however small it might be. and two, he'll want the news cycle to himself for the news of the hire. Robbnva
yea i dont get it either. Its not like anybody else cares beside redskins fans. Dan wants EVERYONE to care. (psst. Mooch works for the nfl network and it would interfere with their work if dan announced they hired him before the super bowl. Nobody would be talking about the 18-0 pats or Manning's drunk brother)
Robbnva
to max out the bandwidth on Extremeskins.com to give the mods time to clean up (merge, move, delete, etc) all of the threads about the super bowl that will appear in the wrong forum after the Pats win. If they had to merge all of the coach threads AND SB threads they just might quit and we can't have ART, OM, and these other guys go through that. CallMeGreen
The NFL wants to avoid what happened during Game 4 of the recent World Series. Boras comes out, hogs the spotlight then tells everyone that ARod is opting out of this contract. Everyone's talking about ARod (great deal huh?) instead of the game still being played. Granted, there's no game being played until Sunday, so why not just have a moritorium on Big Moves on Super Bowl Sunday itself?

Not impossible, but that doesn't seem like Goodell's style. And I don't think having something else to talk about would be a bad thing for the NFL network. They've got 24hrs a day, and filling a small part of it with some inside info on the coaching search, from the actual candidate, can't be bad programming. I think there must be another reason, like: 1. We're just disorganized and really don't know who we're going to hire. 2. We really want to interview a coach from one of the 2 SB teams. 3. Mystery option 3. I think its 1.

Taylor4Life
2) You can't hire a man under contract with the NFL network (or less likely, a defensive coordinator in the SB) until after the SB. You nailed it. The stated reason of "not wanting to distract from the Superbowl" is just a smokescreen. End of thread. Our next head coach will likely come from either NYG, NE, or NFL Network. Est.1932
here is why there are no hires during the Super Bowl week...the NFL frowns upon anything taking away from the Super Bowl Him waiting to hire a coach and then having word come out about an NFL network guy (Moooooooooch) and have people at the same time thinking about who he can hire from an SB team, its like Danny is in the SB or at least now he has linked our team to it, good or bad... Hes building us up for the climax... Then he will pass us all a cig and ask "was it as good for you as it was for me?"

33
Did anyone watch the World Series? I'm not a baseball fan, but I watched and A-rods people announced his new contract before the decisive game of the WS. It was a big deal. Bud Selig was pissed. In the NFL all the owners will share in the profits of the SB, why take a chance and piss off 31 other owners? And yes, it can and would be a distraction from the hype leading up to the game. From what I understand, the media is already talking about our situation. They would talk about it more if we hired someone. Not the game itself, unless it's Fassel, in which case the announcers would have to mention it when talking about the Giants last SB appearance.
