Mark Brunell, Jon Jansen, Sha"W"n Springs and Marcus Washington will all be casualties of the off season.

Mark it down.

If Rock likes the smell of money, he's gone as well.

Those players should be the least of our worries. See how many other players are going to be willing to renegotiate their contracts down to help keep us under the cap.

Danny laid an egg here and I expect to see quite a few key players not opting to renegotiate, which leaves Danny and Vinny "Sidekick" Cerrato no choice but to let them go. These players aren't going to want to start all over with a team that is so disorganized with no sense of direction with a disloyal owner. Expect a pretty heavy turnover on both sides of the ball.

For the same reasons it will be difficult to sign younger replacement FA's.

Perhaps it is just me but I find it amazing how fast this team seemed to have aged.

Washington hit's our cap this year like 8 mill large. With his injury's the last two years, I don't see it.

I'm leaving him on the list.

6.445 to be exact according to this summary I found.

Marcus can stay if he wants to stay. He may not even need to restructure. There are others that need to redo their deals first.....

The team had better be smart enough to have a replacement for Springs BEFORE they jerk him around or allow animosity to build.

We have other needs, so hopefully we don't have to spend another top draft pick in the secondary this season.

That leaves only one choice--sign a corner in FA......or kiss Shawn's feet.

It seems Rogers will be missing a portion of the season....could you imagine what would happen if we let Springs go....and Smoot went down in the first few weeks?

4-12.

Its not like they are free to just go they have contracts. PP is the only one who can walk as his contract expired. I worried about players demanding trades but I don't think too many players will want out.

If certain players contracts are putting them near the cap, they will usually renegotiate down to help the team, if not they are let go as the team simply can't afford to keep them.

How many players do you think will renegotiate down and still want to play here after the fiasco that Danny just created?

Now I'll admit this is in my head, but here are the #'s against the cap this year, and the number if we cut said player (with acceleration of bonuses due).

For this exercise, I picked anyone whos current cap hit is over 6 million. That's eight players.

Marcus: 6.445 Cap hit. Cutting him would be a net savings of 2.404

Portis: 8.876 Cap hit. Cutting him would be a net savings of .09

Springs: 7.484 Cap hit. Cutting him would be a net savings of 2.516

Thomas: 8.923 Cap hit. Cutting him would be a net savings of .705

Jansen: 8.833 Cap hit. Cutting him would be a net savings of 3.23

Cooley; 12.105 Cap hit. Not going anywhere, a bonus conversion saves at least 10 mill on this years cap.

Griffin: 6.166 Cap hit. Cutting him would be a net savings of 1.651

Samuels: 8.250 Cap hit. We'd lose money if we cut him.

So based off of these numbers, Jansen is the one most likely to be but if there's a cap crunch, but we all know there won't be......

I think many of these players will re-do deals, including Jansen if he's asked to.

Portis already said he would, which is great if he does. I certainly hope so.

What are our affordable options at #2? We should draft a late round Tom Brady type for our #3. Are any Zorn disciples even available?

The one thing I hated about Gibbs was carrying three QB's. I never agreed with that. So now, the new HC will likely carry two QB's like the rest of the league and that will open up a roster spot for a lineman. Which means we don't need Brunell, in any capacity.

The smartest move would be bring three QB's to camp and have open competition for two roster spots.

I wish drafting a "Brady" type was that easy man, haha.

Restructuring is only good for the team if you expect a guy to produce for a number of years. Because restructuring means you are going to pay him guaranteed for a number of years. We carry too much dead cap now. I hope the "new management" will address that. Not holding my breath.

You want a rookie as our #2? I'm not really comfortable with that. Especially a late round rookie.
