brian8151
Since having a discussion with my redskin fanantic friend telling me that Jim Fassel will be the next Redskin coach, I asked myself why haven't they hired him yet if he's the leading canidate? There is no one else out there that you can pry away from anyone so, if Jim Fassel or Gregg Williams is your guy, why not hire them now? My guess is after two weeks of interviewing canidates none of them really stood out or didn't want to be in Washington. Other teams are blocking coaches so the Redskins can't hire them. I think the rest of the NFL is saving the Redskins from themselves. If you're not going to hire the canidates you've interviewed you can only be waiting from someone on the coaching staffs with the Giants and Patriots. I know the New York Giants Defensive Coordinator is the flavor of the month but I haven't seen anything he's accomplished there that makes me believe he can take the Redskins to the promise land. What I have seen is the continued development of Josh Daniels career in the NFL. Since we haven't hired a coach as of 11:15pm Thursday January 24th, we can only be waiting for permission to talk to Josh Daniels. To me he is the only logical canidate considering we were forced into a situation to find a new head coach. I think everyone deserves a second chance but I am not a fan of the Retread head coaches, like Jim Fassel or Marty Schottenheimer or Bill Cowher. The 31 year old McDaniels has been with the Patriots for 7 years. He's learned and honed his craft from Charlie Weiss and Bill Belichick. Trying to replace a legend like Joe Gibbs is almost impossible. Remember no one knew who Joe Gibbs was when he was first hired in Washington. Hiring Josh McDaniels makes a lot of sense. It would give the front office time to build their team and get their feet underneath them while the young coach can still give you a breath of fresh air and winning mentality. It would be a hard hire to criticize giving a young guy with a championship pedigree in coaching and Head Football Coaching job, besides that, there is no one else out there. This is the only type of coach we haven't hired. A young, bright assistant accostumed to winning on a yearly basis. I hope Mr. Synder is catching this wavelength. Siven
Being a Head coach is about being a leader of men. first and foremost it's being a leader. All Josh McDaniels has proven is he can effectively coach an All-world offense.
herb mul-key
Sorry dude but... 1. He is not leaving period so I am not sure why you Danny and everyone else doesn't get that this is a worthless discussion. 2. There is no way you can convince me that this kid is at all near ready to come in here and handle being Head Coach of the Washington Redskins... 3. in fact the idea to me is completely laughable... 4. You think he had a lot to do with the Patriots succes this year? Maybe a little...a little. 5. He is not ready to be a HC especially here...I wish everyone could see this and stop the foolish Josh McDaniel is our savoir Bullcrap...
kwitt
I think first of all you need to get his name right. McDaniels actually makes very little sense to me. The guy is only 31 years old and he is getting all this praise for this record setting offense. Do you think that having one of the best head coaches of all time, one of the best quarterbacks of all time, and one of the best wide receivers of all time might have something to do with this? Charlie Weis was hot property a few years ago and he ended up overseeing the worst offense in the nation at Notre Dame. Coordinators who make it to the Super Bowl have a tendency to get really overrated.

Turban Beardface
I think the offense the Patriots have assembled could make many members of this board look like offensive gurus. So I say no, Josh Daniels (pretty sure is Mcdaniels) either way they both don't make sense.

Stricknine
You people that are all over McDaniels' jock kill me. Just because he is with the Patriots and they are going undefeated he must automatically be a genius? Have you watched that team? They execute everything perfectly. You could call just about any play and they would make it work. The line is arguably the best in the NFL. The QB? Well, duh! They have so many weapons...I could have been the playcaller and they would still have went undefeated. Get a clue people.

Exactly! This has been my point about Daniels from the beginning. Let's see what he can do when there's a few injuries on that o-line or at WR. You're only as good as your weakest player. jivelikenice
4. You think he had a lot to do with the Patriots succes this year? Maybe a little...a little. Hahaha, add one more to the "He's only a good coach cause he has talent list. So far it includes Spagnuolo, Rex Ryan, and Josh McDaniels. If Bill Bel. thinks McDaniels is ready to go, he'll go and Bill's blessing is good enough for me.
