Andre The Giant
Fassel had a great deal of success in his first run of head coach of the G-men. - Coach of the Year Awards; - Super Bowl Appearance; - Multiple Playoff Appearances. Williams did not have hardly any success in Buffalo. Ask Bills fans what they think of Gregg. It might not be too different than our feelings about Norv. Toe Jam
Fassell: 7 years. 3 Playoff Appearances 0 Super Bowl Wins I'm not making a case for Williams because technically I would rather have Schwartz. Just saying that Fassell's record isn't exactly great.
DieHard86
I'd prefer just getting this over with. Whatever goodwill Snyder earned this past season is gone.
CM916
If we get stuck with him, I'll give him a chance. My opposition really comes from the fact that he will fire the whole existing staff and possibly let go of a lot of our players.
redskinsfanatical
My whole thing is if we are going to BLOW UP this whole team which will happen if we hire a coach besides GW I would rather it be a NEW upcoming person not a giants retread ;( No thanks......Why hasnt Russ Grimm been interviewed if they want to not hire Gregg Williams ? I think Snyder just wants him here so Fassell can be a puppet on the string of his tennis shoe.:2cents:
corrupt3d
My main point is this: Ask Williams' players up in Buffalo about him (except for Fletch, Clements, Spikes and Schobel) and now ask Williams' players down in Washington about him (all 53 of them)
TankRizzo
I'd prefer just getting this over with. Whatever goodwill Snyder earned this past season is gone. Exactly. He's taken every bit of credibility that Joe earned for him and flushed it down the toilet.
TD_washingtonredskins
I'd prefer just getting this over with. Whatever goodwill Snyder earned this past season is gone. That's a little sad considering all he's done is take his time in selecting our next head coach. The man brought us 4 more years of Joe Gibbs and all that is forgotten because it's been a mere two weeks and he hasn't named a replacement coach? Talk about a fanbase being disloyal!!!! zCommander
On paper Fassel does look a tad better but I am more worried about the chemistry the players will have if it isn't GW.

Why he should rush a VERY important decision just to alleviate whatever discomfort the process is causing you ? I think personally taking his time and looking at every option is the right move. It's a HUGE decision. He should rush it so we feel better ? Heck no !

voicekiller
Is there another box to select if you don't want either? I don't want Williams or Fassel... My choices are now Ryan, Grimm, Spags, and Cowher

Even if Gregg did things incorrectly in Buffalo he got a clean slate here and he's proven himself to the people that matter the most. the players. In the end it doesn't matter what we think. urblessed00
To each ...his or her own opinion on this. Just my opinion, I think everybody is overreacting here. This whole thing of "continuity".....severely overhyped here. The Redskins.....HONESTLY my fellow fans, were not going to be Super Bowl contenders this year or next year. Truthfully, I think if everybody really examined this thing, this whole idea of just promoting from within..."for continuity"....is again really just overblown. Fassell may not be the "sexiest" of candidates, but they could hire a heck of a lot worse. Who else is out there? Greg Williams personality seeeeeeems to rub people the wrong way over the long haul (see Buffalo and just LAST YEAR..here). His won loss record....not that great my friends in Buffalo. Was Fassel a world beater? No. But he was/is a good coach. Also, alllll of this support coming from the players should be a huge red flag. Yes, if Williams is hired, they have job security and that same club med that Gibbs ran will continue under him. If they have an issue, with whomever becomes coach, they need to be shipped outta here. Primadonnas. My dang. Personally, there isn't a coach available right now that I would just say "yep, that's the man right there for the job". But all of this outlast against a potential (not even named coach yet) who did a good job in New York of all places with Kerry Collins as his quarterback, should get a lil bit more benefit of the doubt than this. Just my opinion. I don't think the coach is going to be Williams or Fassel now. It's just a mess. Wake me when the season begins.

He is jerking people around and doing so with the minuscule football knowledge that he has. He wants to win badly, but it appears, unfortunately for him, that his ego trumps all. ECU-ALUM
Williams knows the personel here...they know him and how he works. Look we have been hearing so much about how Snyder learned so much from Coach Gibbs...if that is true...then wouldn't it stand to reason that Coach Williams has also learned a lot by watching Coach Gibbs? The Full Monty
If Fassel is such a great prospect how come we're the only people on earth who are talking with him? The man can't even get hired to run the Kansas City Chiefs offense, it's pitiful.
skinsfan3880
To all these people stating fassel for no real reason is a bad choice. i strongly dissagree. i believe a lot of this lies with blind loyalty. the whole well hes been here he should be promoted line when you hire someone you have to look at there whole track record and dont get me wrong i like williams and think hes got potential. However he didnt exactly set the world on fire in buffalo when it comes to getting things done as a H.C.. Fassel Has taken teams to the playoffs and to the superbowl even though he did lose the superbowl to a hellacious ravens team that year hes at least been to the mountaintop. While being loyal to someone can be a good quality blind loyalty is something that should be avoided.
