BillyKilmer
I have ventured out into hyperspace and seen the glee with which our opponents have viewed the Redskins coaching search. NFC east opponents are relishing the thought of playing the Skins with Fassel at HC. Eagle fans memories are as short as their Suberbowl victory list. Fassel has career 9-5 record against their team. And he is 1 and 0 vs. the Eagles in the playoffs. Cowboy Fans don’t fare much better. Fassel has a winning record against your “gateway to the third world team” posting an 8-6 record. Speaking of winning when is the last time you guys won a playoff game? Wade Phillips next playoff victory will be his first. Fassel lead the Giants to the playoffs 3 out of 7 years. Norv Turner got the best coaching job available in the NFL last year with much worse credentials. Fassel only wants one thing another shot at the NFL as a head coach. He turned down chances to interview for prime College coaching jobs Notre Dame and Stanford. • http://www.nytimes.com/2004/12/07/sports/football/07fassel.html I think Jim Zorn is what Jason needs the team he has coached is the same team that booted the Skins from their last two playoff appearances. If Rex Ryan comes on as the DC (not a sure thing) his defense will create more turnovers Something Greg’s defenses have always been lacking in. ThomasRoane
Utterly ridiculous!! Giants and pokes have different teams. None of the teams has the same core group of players. And Fassel has been working radio. He also doesn't have John Fox to prop him up. Nor a good personnel guy.

moviedude25
Excellent post Billy. All of these posters with man crushes for GW's need to realize he never was anywhere as good as Fassel as a head coach. Fassel went to the playoffs and the Superbowl and won coach of the year twice. GW didn't even come close a little bit to any of that and had a horrible record as coach 17 wins in 4 years. As Defensive Cordinator GW was good one year and awful the next here. When we needed GW he never delivered, where were you GW in 2006? Why did you want Adam Archuletta GW? Where were you in Seattle GW? I like GW but he's not as good of a coach as Fassel. If we go this direction the franchise will be fine and all you chicken littles out there tonight will be fans again in time.
BillyKilmer
A lot of we posters are so emotionally involved that we are reacting like children. We are screaming, threatening and irrational for the moment. But thinking back to my own childhood some of the things that upset me the most when I did not get. Turned out to be the best for me in the end. I hope that this turns out to be the same. I don't pretend to know what the best course for a football team is. I do choose to look at things as rationally as I can.
skinsince72
Fact: If GW is named HC, half the threads on ES would be how this would turn into Buffalo 2.0. We say he is too pompous and will lose the team by midseason. After our first 2 losses, Danny would still be an idiot and we would have wondered why we gave the team to a DC that failed at the HC position once. If Gibbs suddenly called a press conference and said he was coming back, we would be up to our knees in "oh no, not again" threads. If Cowher stunned the world and said he accepted the position, we'd let it be known that his in your face style would hurt the players feelings too much. My point: Any of the candidates have HC potential. They currently work in the NFL. We speak about them like they coach Junior Varsity ball or something. I don't mean to bust on some of the other ES'ers but I think they represent the most loyal. But it is hard to see that here sometimes. Personally, i am excited about having a new coach. hail2skins
As I stated in a post last night, I wonder if Giant fans were very happy when they hired Tom Coughlin in 2004. Coughlin had spent the previous eight seasons in Jacksonville, the last 3-4 of which were pretty miserable. Right now, do you think Giant fans are sorry they made the hire? I wish that the Skins would be more imaginative in their hire but just want to indicate that, contrary to all the angst, there is hope.
Canadian Hog
The funny thing is that almost everybody on here is saying that Fassel will be bringing us back to mediocrity. Unfortunately, the same mediocrity we fear is what we've been going through with Williams, Saunders, and I hate to say it - coach Joe. This past season, we road a wave of emotion because of Sean's passing. Otherwise, we were a team that was sinking fast in the NFC before that. So we made the playoffs in the sad-sacked NFC two of the last three years....that doesn't say much because unfortunately, the fact of the matter is that in neither of those years we didn't scare anybody or posed a serious threat to winning the NFC. Fassel means an adjustment period - an adjustment period we experienced all too often over the course of 12 years as we cycled through five coaches in Petibone, Turner, Schottenheimer, Robiskie, and Spurrier. I think that this fear of starting over is as much a problem for most people as is the actual hire of Fassel.
