I went with 'other.'

I'm fine with Gregg as coach, but he is no longer my first choice. I think there are plenty of other qualified coaches on our staff that don't have the baggage Gregg has.

As far as Fassel is concerned, there are many qualified people (like Grimm) that we didn't even interview for a shot.

If Fassel is hired I'm seriously angered that we didn't interview more minority candidates. I know people on this site dislike the Rooney rule, but there are a boat load of qualified minorities out there and the only way I would accept a token interview is if Gregg is named coach.

People are acting like Fassel never did anything and was a terrible coach. People are acting like he's Norv Wannstedt. I just don't get it.

Why is it that No other team interviewed or showed any interest in Fassel for HC, and he got rejected as OC in KC and VinDan is about to give him what should be one of the best head coaching jobs in sports?

I guess VinDan was the only one smart enough to look under Fassel's rock.

Or the only ones dumb enough...

Seriously, is there any sort of connection between Snyder/Cerrato and Fassel? Because he was also heavily recruited in 2004 before Gibbs came to the rescue. The trend is for up-and-coming coaches, so it's weird that Snyder decides to look at an aging retread that hasn't done anything positive in five years.

Nobody wanted Spurrier or Marty either. Gibbs wasn't really on anyone's radar screen either. Snyder thinks he's smarter than everyone else. He's Willy Wonka.

Your point holds as to Snyder's opinion of himself, but I think you might be wrong about Spurrier and Marty.

"Spurrier has slew of NFL options" http://media.www.thedmonline.com/media/storage/paper876/news/2002/01/08/Sports/Spurrier.Has.Slew.Of.Nfl.Options-1581300.shtml - Lists 5 teams seriously considered bringing him in, of course Dan's money ensured he came here.

Marty was looking to get back into coaching in 2001 and interviewed for a few college jobs before being announced in the first week of January as the new Redskins HC.

remember our opinions don't really count so don't be disappointed......

it's like posting in TAILGATE ;):silly:

True, but perhaps we are giving some ammo to friendlies in Redskins Park who need that extra push to change the direction of the carrier group.

Hire Gregg Williams!

If he does eventually get hired is this whole process designed to bring him down a few notches, you know with presumed genius complex? Reportedly, he and Cerrato dont get along, and with Vinny getting his dough and recognition first and Gregg being hung out like this...

The Archuleta deal, if I remember Williams pushed for this guy, things went wrong, AA he turned on GW with that whole article mess.

That is of course assuming he gets hired...:logo:

Since you quoted my post, I'll give you my answer. I actually don't think Fassel is necessarily a bad coach. I have said this already on the boards tonight. I have also said that I don't think he's any less hungry than a young unproven guy. He actually has a ton to prove.

But given the choice between Gregg, Fassel, and other, I'm going to go with other. I'm soured on Gregg due to his baggage (in D.C. not in Buffalo, ask and I'll explain), and Fassel is clearly not my first choice. As I said, I think there are plenty of qualified guys on our staff that can work if Gregg isn't the guy. And I'm very miffed that Grimm didn't even get an interview. Coach Byner sounds nice;)

Yes, there is a connection between Fassel and Cerrato. Some sort of relationship. Maybe just because of a shared agent?

Regardless it's been reported early and often that there is some connection with these two.

In 2004, Fassel may have been a decent choice since at the time he was competing with Dennis Green and Ray Rhodes, but we got our Coach back. 2008 is a different story. No one else wants this guy but imagine this: our owner and his sidekick have fallen in love with him. We have the worst structure in football. I will always love the Redskins, nothing, not even Snyder can take that from me, but he sure as hell makes it tough sometimes. We will continue to be the laughingstock in football along with Oakland. I can understand hiring Fassel to be a part of the staff, I think he could be valuable, but as Head Coach? Come on. Only here in D.C.
