You are entitled to your opinion and you have every right to express it.

However...

I might want to take this time and questioin your sanity.;)

I respect your opinion as well Sir, however i implore you to answer me this:

WHAT EXACT qualifications make Gregg Williams a better candidate than Jim Fassel?

Double G does not have a particularly good record as HC, and he clearly does not have the full support of his employer or GM...

An entire locker room willing to buy into his system first off.

Secondly, consistency throughout the coaching staff and roster.

GW would have to be an idiot to screw up a team that has the majority of its pieces in place.

I feel 2 ways about this:

1. I'd like to see Dan trust his employees - the players - and give Gregg a shot

2. If that doesn't happen, anyone but Jim Fassell. That guy is about as washed up as they come. Only a team lead by Dan and Vinny would seriously consdier giving this guy a HC position.

Ah ha. Here's the catch:

I'd rather have Schwartz.

Williams would be fine. But Schwartz would be better IMO. A young guy who's extremely passionate about the game and has a thirst to prove himself? Money.

Fassell had 7 seasons with Giants. Took them to one Super Bowl and got the tar beat out of them. He had his shot and he didn't deliver. I say give someone younger and unproven a chance.

Why did the Patriots give the head coaching job to Belichek if he sucked so bad in Cleveland...

True, this is a very good point... the GW situation is similar to the Belichek situation as far as intelligence and past failures go... Interesting comparison...

I agree that we may have the chance to promote double G and have the next rising star coach on our team... I just don't know if I would take that risk...

But you DO intrigue me... Honestly I'd be happy with either one at this point, just as long as we can MOVE ON and start fixing the holes in the roster ASAP

Well, it's almost midnight and we have well over a thousand votes on this poll. We are running 10-1 against Jim Fassel so the board has spoken. Thanks for voting everyone and pray that someone influential in the head office looked at this thread before pulling the trigger on a potentially unpopular coaching change. I wonder if Fassel would even want to come into a coaching situation as such an upopular candidate. He may be a fine coach, but as soon as anything goes wrong the front office will be beaten like a red headed stepchild. Gibbs will be completely undone. So... Godspeed to the owner and staff on choosing this. We fans pay the bills ultimately and we are growing restless for some success in this franchise. They had better pay attention to us.

Only one coach that I know of has made it to a Superbowl with one team, Lost and taken another team later in his Career to the Super Bowl and one, and I believe that was Dick Vermeil. I don't think anyone else has done it, I think Shula Left the Colts before the Colts made it to a Super Bowl, but could be wrong there. Are there any other coaches that lost then won?

This choice is so unpopular the owner should have his testes ripped off with a plastic fork. Fassel even deserves better than this. They should have known fans would react like this. Fassel will be fired in three years and we will be back where we started.

I do feel sorry for Fassel. If he IS the next HC he's not going to get much in the way of support from the fan base. Maybe it really is GW as HC, Fassel as OC, etc. I really would like to see the HC job go to GW.

I guess Dan loves the palace intrigue. Waited all those years for my season tickets and I finally get them just when Dan decides to completely destabilize an organization he's "happy with what we have". He's either erratic or disingenuous.
