GSF
I gotta tell you fellow Skins fanatics, I have a real bad feeling about the Redskins right now. With the announcement of Vinny's promotion, and the writing on the wall that Jim freakin' Fassell will be the next coach, I am anything but excited about the team's future. Why Jim Fassell? I tell you why, what other coach is going to take the job if Vinny and Dan are going to be completely in charge of personell? This has the return of Redskins "fantasy" football written over it. Survey the fans about what they want to happen, and you basically get 2 good option: 1. Promote Gregg Williams and maintain continuity. 2. Hire a GM and hire an up and coming Coach like a Russ Grimm or the DC from the Giants. Try to find a SINGLE fan that wants to hire a washed up Jim Fassell with Dan and Vinny running the team. You won't find one, I promise. How will you react? If these predictions come true, it will difficult for me to find words to express my dissappointment. I have been a bug supporter of Dan Snyder in recent seasons. I really believed that Coach Gibbs had shown him the light. Now, I don't know what to think. After 25+ years of being a Redskins diehard, it's going to be very hard for me to get excited about this team. Man, we were so close to it all coming together. How will you guys react? Lombardi's_kid_brother
I don't want Gregg Williams as head coach. So, anything that leads to that conclusion pleases me. The Vinny promotion is a little disturbing but even that has a silver lining in that we can finally say without question who is in charge of personnel. Redshu
I would think it would be the final straw. The one common denominator in Snyders tenure has been Cerrato. I don't know what he's done to become the end all, be all of front office personnell, but it he has to be some sort of magician. He's now entrenched in the front office and I, for one, can no longer stand this. We've been good a couple of times, but never a contender. How come? Snyder and Cerrato. Gibbs came in and laid the foundation for good things for years to come and these douche bags are going to blow it all to hell. I would be done with this franchise until Snyder sold it. Bottom line. I'm sick of this ****.
Chief skin
Right now considering cancelling NFL Ticket for next year. Why spend all that cash to see the next chapter in the continuindg saga of danny the loser
ttr77
There will be much complaining for the next few months. Then, in September, there will be a sold out stadium. In January, we'll be watching other teams in the playoffs and debating on who will be the coach in '09.
Brandon Lloyd Christmas
gsf, after all of our springs disagreements (which you ended up being correct about this season, i stand corrected), im completely with you on this one. its truly sad that our team is going to turn into a fantasy football haven again for vinny and dan to watch sports center, pick guys based on names, squander draft picks, hire washed up 60 year old coaches, and so on. if fassel is named the coach of our team, the second he screws up one ounce, the boos will be louder than any eagles home game you can imagine. dan is quickly becoming peter angelos. waldo2173
Dan Synder is ruining everything the Redskins organization stands for. Words cannot express my emotions right now. I use to feel humbled wearing my favorite Redskins cap, the same one legendary coach Joe Gibbs wears. Now I am embarrassed and considering hanging it up deep in the depths of my closet. Air Force Cane
I can understand passing over Williams for Bill Cowher, who has a RECORD OF OUTSTANDING TEAMS AND SUCCESS, but to bring in a boring loser retread from New York?!!! Madness!!

Lavarisgod
Snyder's decisions are directly to blame for the downfall of this franchise. The only reason its a moneymaker is because he exploits a loyal fan base for everything he can get. I will always be a fan of the Burgandy and Gold but I will probably never be a fan of 95% of Snyders decisions. I would question if he learned anything at all from Gibbs about football. Have we even interviewed Grimm? Why are we looking at a coach that NOONE has linked to any other head coaching vacancy for the past 5 years? Why isn't GW named coach ATLEAST for a year to see what he can do with what is already in place...continuity...wasn't he preaching that at the Gibbs retirement presser? Snyder acts like a spoiled brat that gets whatever he wants no matter how absurd it is... All that being said I hope I'm wrong, but Im convinced (as are alot of us) that Snyder knows nothing about running a franchise...maybe ruining, but not running, so my hope for the future is fading more every day. gortiz
this is a low point ... I know, I know dramatic, but it is as if we have gone in a time machine 4 years. Snyder is an absolute menace, and now he has ZERO accoutnability with JG gone. He is free to do whatever he wants. For me, if we hire fassel, get rid of GW and Al Saunders, Bugle, Byner, etc. I will be sickened to my stomach. How can I love and follow a team I can't recognize? I'm no fool, winning cures everything, but hell, this is a tough price to pay

robearlyii
I have been a fan for over 25 years, and I too am very discouraged right now. What does continuity mean? Overhauling the entire staff? If Fassel is hired and the staff is overhauled, Dan will say the continuity will come from keeping the NEW staff together for a long time. If he hires Fassel, he will give him a long term contract. That's the continuity. Of course Fassel will get fired and this scenario will repeat itself. So, I ask, where is the real continuity?
gortiz
Snyder's decisions are directly to blame for the downfall of this franchise.QUOTE]I would really like someone to refute this statement ... Not saying it can't be done, just would like to see someone try. By downfall, lets say, he is the reason why the skins have a below .500 winning percentage since he has been here ... The Brave Little Toaster Oven
Seriously, Jim FASSEL?? I wouldn't bet on that ... if fassel gets the gig. I was 100% on board to get season tickets from a friend next year, I'm flat out waiting to see if Fassel is hired. If he does I won't, and I expect a lot of folks are thinking the same way.
jivelikenice
People are being too dramatic here. I am shocked that we're acting like the loss of GW would be the final straw. He had no control of his staff in '06 He thinks you build a defense through the back 7 as opposed to the front 7 He had the #8 defense in the league; not a top 5 or a top 3, but #8. Out of a league of 32 that is pretty good, not great He's had a poor history as a head coach His defenses can't create turnovers What am I missing? Yes, I want continuity as well, but that got thrown out the window when Gibb's retired. I think making the move now to a guy who might be here for the next 5 years is more important to continuity then promoting Williams for one season, and if he fails having to go through this same process next year. That would be extremely damaging to this team And i'm a fan of the burgundy and gold regardless of who's the coach. There have been moves (i.e. Spurrier, Gibbs, etc...) that at the time the fans felt would lead to a Super Bowl and it hasn't so get off of your high horses thinking you know whats best.... Trippster
Everyone abandoning the Redskins is not realistic. What should happen is there should be a mass protest right in front of Redskins Park. Make life really difficult for Snyder when he's at games. Heckle him the entire game. Make huge signs that he can see from his box that reminds him how much he sucks and how much we want him gone.

How will you guys react? I have been going to the Beach blitz; Training camp and every year I travel up I95 for at least 6 games. Shell out a lotta money. Usually buy jerseys of latest, up and comers for the kids (I have 5). We stay at a hotel nearby. Tailgate and even spend money inside on food and drinks. But if snyder goes with Jim Fizzle? That miser SOB will never get another nickel from me. He is essentially spitting in the face of Joe Gibbs and all that he built. Gibbs laid a great foundation for success and snyder can't wait to take a backhoe to it. If I ever make it to another function it will be to boo his sorry ass off the stage. I've loved the Redskins since the 60's. Still have my signed autograph of Chris Hanburger and of me and Joe Gibbs after his first retirement. This little self-absorbed azz is single-handedly destroying the most devoted fan base in the League. What a shame.
