Diaz critical after fight

Welterweight Oscar Diaz reportly is undergoing emergency surgery early Thursday morning for bleeding on the brain. The brave fighter, who has been in so many wars during his career, was rushed to University Hospital in San Antonio, a level one trauma center, after collapsing between rounds late in the fight against Delvin Rodriguez during a nationally-televised fight. We hope and pray for his recovery.

i watched this fight on ESPN2 last night. just before coming out for the 11th, he collapsed against the ropes. this particular fight didn't seem abnormally brutal. he's been in alot of physical fights in the past though, and has probably sustained alot of carryover from those fights. i hope he pulls through this

I highly doubt that. Nobody puts a beating on BHOP. It will be a close and competitive fight.

BHop is almost 44. Joe C ate him up and Joe is 37. Kelly is the hardest puncher in the game. I'm hoping BHop doesn't get on his bicycle after he feels the power and tries to make it a war.

Joe Calzaghe did not "eat" up BHop! It was a pretty close fight...BHop was actually in control of the first half of the fight!

Kelly Pavlic will be one of the biggest punchers BHop has ever faced, but don't forget that Bhop is one of the best defensive/counter punching middle-light heavyweight there has been in a long time.

I expect the younger Pavlic to win the fight, but I think BHop will start fast and win a few of the first 6 rounds.

Pavlic should wear him out as the fight goes on and probably get a TKO late in the fight.

I for one, will not get this fight! I'm very disappointed in it and am sick of BHop fighting in "major" pay-per-view bouts.

I would have liked to see Pavlic fight Calzaghe in the next fight to set up for the winner of Tarver-Dawson.

What fight was you watching? BHop made Joe look like a amature. That fight could have went either way but they gave it to JC because of age and they can get more a few more pay per views out of him.

Nice, and prob. in my Top 10, but behind Holt-Torres and Williams-Quintana.

August 2 is a pretty big day:

From boxingalongthebeltway.blogspot.com

Then on Saturday, August 2, two Beltway Boxers will appear on two cards that will be televised by two cable networks. We already know that undefeated Baltimore super middleweight Mike "The Persecutor" Paschall will battle undefeated Andre Dirrell of Flint, MI on Showtime.

Now comes word that undefeated DC lightweight Anthony Peterson (27-0, 19 KO's) is now slated to take on former IBF Lightweight champion Javier Jauregui of Mexico (53-14-2, 36 KO's) in a 10-round bout that may make the HBO telecast from the Palms Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

That Peterson fight is on the undercard of the Clottey-Judah title fight.

So apparently Pavlik WAS gonna face the Punisher. Would've liked to see that.

nothing in it for Pavlik. if he wins he beat someone who jumped two weigh-classes, nothing is gained from his perspective in a win over Paul Williams.

if Paul were to pull of the upset, Pavlik's earning potential is seriously damaged.

i know Pavlik is fighting B-Hop next, but i want to see him and Arthur Abraham unify the middleweight titles.:2cents:

Paul Williams is in negotiations to fight Winky Wright @ 160lbs. hopefully Winky won't price himself out of a fight like he usually does

Calzaghe-Jones postponed!

The Joe Calzaghe camp has confirmed that Calzaghe has suffered an injury to his right hand that will force the postponement of his still not officially announced September 20 pay-per-view clash with Roy Jones Jr. The bout, planned for Madison Square Garden, could be recheduled as soon as November.

Jeff Lacy Won a majority decision last night on Wednesday night fights. The fight was very entertaining with many near knockouts! I think Jeff got away with one....I had the fight scored a draw...but If I had to pick a winner it would have been the other guy.

Jeff Lacy is my #1 favorite fighter....he still needs to improve his defense before he has any chance of being an elite champion. Jeff did prove to have one hell of a chin last night though!

I'd like to see Jeff fight Jermaine Taylor at 167, improve his defense, and move up to the light heavy weight division.

Taylor would eat him alive. Actually, I believe they may fight in November.

Santa Cruz won last night. From what they said, it seemed like he got screwed in the decision vs. Casamayor. Anyone see that fight?

And for the love of everything rational, if you're not going to eliminate any weight classes, and you're not going to eliminate any of the "Big 4" organizations, can we at least agree to get rid of that two champs at one time thing the WBA and WBC do? The ONLY time that should happen is if the current champ is injured or what have you, and AS SOON AS the current champ is healthy, his FIRST fight should be with the interim champ to unite the titles.

EDIT: http://www.sportinglife.com/boxing/news/story_get.cgi?STORY_NAME=boxing/08/07/23/manual_095441.html

Looks like Punisher wants a crack at the winner of Saturday's bout, a shot I think he should get.

makes alot of sense for Paul to get the winner, especially if Margarito wins since Paul already holds a victory over him. I expect Oscar to swoop in and fight the winner if he doesn't get the Pacquiao fight. I think Oscar will choose Pacquiao because it'll be an easier fight, Cotto or Margarito could do some serious damage to Oscar if they fought.

personally i hope Paul gets the winner, i don't see Paul staying at WW for much longer, might as well fight the best before you move up.
