Titaw
Lemme get this straight, Mike Vick should have received a lengthier sentance than Leonard Little, the player who drove drunk and killed a PERSON. Mike Vick - 23 MONTHS Leonard Little - 90 DAYS Sorry, but I value human live more than a dog's life ANYDAY!
trio
I too am still stunned at the level of support Vick receives, particularly from people that are simply Virginia Tech alumnus or students. Not just people on internet boards either. There are people I went to law school with that went to Tech and feel this way, He committed, confessed to, and was thusly found guilty of federal crimes. Don't like the crimes? Write to your congressman, or become an attorney and work to fight the system from within. But the way he was treated, and continues to be treated, is 100% congruent with the law as it is. Personally, I don't blame the Commonwealth's Attorney for also charging him. Truthfully, he could be in MORE trouble at the State level than at the Federal level. As far as the "mangy-ass mutts" comments. How wonderful for you that your humanity does not recognize what Vick did as cruel and criminal. Unfortunately for you, and for Vick, and fortunately for the rest of us, the government of the United States of America finds what Vick did abhorrent, felonious behavior. If you do not like it there are numerous ways you can leave, and numerous places in this world that value life in a similar fashion. Please post and let us know how you are enjoying the third world...

Vick got the sentence he deserved, Leonard Little did not. To say that Vick should serve an absolutely insignificant sentence just because Little got off easy is absolutely ludicrous. Edit: Actually, I think Vick probably deserved worse but as far as the laws of this country go he got what he deserved.

Teller
Little should have gotten 90 years. And it really has nothing to do with Vick's case anyway. Amen. Leonard Little is easily my least favorite player in the NFL, and one of my least favorite people. If you can kill a mother of three whilst driving drunk, and THEN be arrested for DUI again, you're a disgusting excuse for a human being. I just wish some of the posters who still support Vick would articulate the honest reason why. I'm not holding my breath though.
Titaw
I am not saying that Vick's sentance was too harsh or not enough, I am just pointing out the inherant flaw in our system.

Leonard Little was the product of some serious flaws in the drunk driving laws of the State of Missouri, whereas Michael Vick was charged and plead guilty, and eventually sentenced for a federal crime and under federal guidelines.... you cannot really compare the two..... I do agree that what happened to Little was insane, but if he had, somehow, been charged with a federal crime, he would NOT have received the sentence he did.... DjTj
Well, based on ES history he's in it for an entirely different color. That may be the case, but the strongest defenders of Vick in this forum have been hokie4 and vtfan414, who are definitely in it for the maroon and burnt orange. Enter Apotheosis
Racist. I was just saving you the trouble. Besides, its well established that I hate all people equally. That may be the case, but the strongest defenders of Vick in this forum have been hokie4 and vtfan414, who are definitely in it for the maroon and burnt orange. Of course. hokie4redskins
Its a given. Neither ironmic nor hokie understands the meaning of the phrase... and I honestly wouldn't have expected them to  Seriously dude, you talking about "understanding the meaning" of anything is hilarious. Tastes Like Chicken
If true, that is messed up about his dad. Well, he'll be 30 or just under 30 when he's out, so he might be able to get back into football. There's plenty of time for him to think about his mistakes and what he's going to do with his life, in the meantime. It's a little late to be a concerned parent when you've been running a dogfighting operation for years. Not exactly like he needed the money. If anything I feel sorry for the kids. Corcaigh
Vick is sorry - sorry that he got caught , his career is destroyed and he has to spend nearly two years in prison. If he was sorry about the dog fighting he wouldn't have cut an immediate plea rather than only doing so as a last resort. Did anyone else think George Forman was trying to sell the judge a grill in the reference letter he wrote for Vick? See the intro below
terpfan
That letter sounded a bit too much like he was just begging and making excuses, but it does seem like he has learned a lesson. If he really is as changed as he says he is he should be able to get his life together when he gets out. He will only be 30 years old.

hokie4redskins
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Vick#Charity_work Did you not read the letters in the original link? You should read first before you "speew" in the thread. His work in the community far outweighs anything anybody posting in this thread has done. So cast your stones hypocrites. And, I would suggest, he's bankrolling a dog fighting ring far outweighs anything negative anybody in this thread has done. So what exactly is your point? That since he did some charity work (which almost every professional athlete does) he should be allowed to do something as sick and demented as torture and kill dogs? ZEPHEAD
This won't stop the "holier than thou" hypocrites from chucking stones at him, unfortunately. I can't believe he got two years for this BS. Vick broke the law and now has to pay the piper. How many brushes with the law did Vick have and walked away because of who he was?? Vick was the one with a attitude of, "I'm Michael Vick and I can do what I want." Dude, was a NFL QB and what did he do, he bought a house, he built a kennel "Bad Newz Kennels" and funded dogfighting. Betting big money. And then as he's waiting for his sentence, he gets nailed with weed in his system. But hey, "He's Vick, he can do what he wants." My favorite thing is, "I was hearbrokne and my dad was trying to ge money and sell a Teel All Book. I saw so depressed that I had to burn a blunt." People I know you are these good people with kids that they love don't fight dogs and burn blunts. That's a role model for your kids? That's a loving father for your kids? Vick got nailed, he new it was illegal, he said so himself and now has to do the time and he doesn't like it.
