REDALERT
That's what I've been thinking for some time now. If Shawn Springs is not with this organization next year and the coaches decide to let him walk, then he's a cowboy. That's right, Shawn's roots with the football world and his upbringing was with the Cowboys and so was his farther as we all know. That's why I hope we keep Shawn around next season and not play these contract games or the impression he's no longer needed. but if we do like we did in the begining of this year, I see Shawn Springs signing with the Cowboys and Jerry Jones having no problem opening the door for a player that roamed Irving Texas as a child and still has lots of Cowboy supporters down there. Forget moving Shawn to safety and all these post I see about that, because after what happen before this season started, we must do our best to obtain this guy. Because frankly and contrary to what the coaches might have thought when the situation occured during the off-season, Shawn is still our best CB today, period. We must keep this guy.... Major Harris
i agree with you that he's our best corner and we should attempt to keep him. however, we should do so in a fiscally responsible manner, and not just try to keep him off the cowboys. if they give him a monster contract, so be it. he's not getting younger, he's not getting less susceptible to injuries. try to keep him, but don't break the bank to do it, and definitely don't do it just to keep him away from dallas. Hitman#21
If its for a resonable price lets keep him otherwise let him walk dont forget were gettein rogers back and we have smoot and we can draft or sign.
gburgdesi
Yea it seems he would like to go there because of his dads history in dallas. But he has given us a solid run and i would love to see him sitck around

I sorry, but I'm still not totally sold on Rogers just yet, even though most of you beg the differ. And now since this injury, it's going to hinder him even more IMO. And to be honest, I don't see a major drop off from when Rogers was playing and now Smoot playing. Just my :2cents:
LilSkinnette
I really hope he stays. I would also understand him leaving to be closer to his family. Whatever he decides I wish him success.
MEANDWARF
I hope he stays too, but if he plays for the Cowboys in order to be close to his Dad, then I would understand him leaving.
Optimus Primeskins
I hope he stays as well .... However if he leaves Washington for money reasons , you think Dallas really wants to pay him ? They love there DB's there ... so who knows ... I could honestly see it because of his family history but I hope it doesnt happen ...
2006Skins
As long as he takes a paycut. But he's already said he won't renegotiate his contract. His price tag is way too high for the amount of years left in his career.
posse87
Dude, Springs grew up a Skins fan in Maryland. Yes, his dad did play for the Cowboys, but he grew up a skins fan.
brianforster
i do not see the cowboys making a play for him, they don't need him.

Larry Brown #43
Dude, Springs grew up a Skins fan in Maryland. Yes, his dad did play for the Cowboys, but he grew up a skins fan. He did grow up in Silver Spring, MD, but I'm not sure that he grew up a Skins fan. Why would he grow up a Skins fan if his dad was playing for Dallas? That would be kinda weird. PorkSkins
SS was born in Williamsburg, Va and has always been a Skin's fan. His dad was also from Williamsburg. Both attended Ohio State University. He might of rooted for his dad as a player for the Cowpokes, but I don't think that made him a fan. I expect him to be re-signed by the Skins next year. skinsince72
I say keep him. Teams pick on Carlos whenever they get a chance. SS would be a great asset even if we do not play him all the time.
mcarey032
As much as I absolutely despise Dallas, and I do mean despise, I would not be mad at Shawn Springs going to Dallas. I think that if we let him go, it would make sense for him to be close to his father during this time. 99.9 percent of the time I hate Dallas and their team and anyone who is usually affliated with them, but in this instance I would be OK with him going there to be closer to his dad. HeHateMe
He would have to come to Dallas on the cheap. Theyre going to have to resign Newman to a huge contract and Henry is already getting some solid coin.

z0eboy
FS will extend Springs career hes open to the idea and GW thought about moving him to safety before drafting Landry. if he plays FS it would require him to tackle less at the LOS and cover the deep ball. Springs is a pro bowl caliber FS with his skill set, the impact he could make will pay dividends for the defense :2cents:
Riggo-toni
Dude, Springs grew up a Skins fan in Maryland. Yes, his dad did play for the Cowboys, but he grew up a skins fan. Not that it matters, but he grew up a Cowboys fan in MD. Don't you remember Fred Smoot's remark back in '04 when he found out Shawn Springs had Cowboys underwear as a child - "I'd have fed him Ex Lax!"
