Who we root for next week

The first game of interest for us is the Cardinals at the Saints. We need both of these teams to lose so it’s hard to say who we should be rooting for or against. If the Saints lose tonight to the Falcons then I’d say we are definitely rooting for the Saints to beat the Cardinals next week because that would put them both at (6-8). I know we hold the tie-breaker against the Cardinals but I don’t know how they determine the tie breaker between us at the Saints if there is one. If the Saints win tonight then we pretty much just have to hope that the winner of the Cardinals vs. Saints game loses one of their last two games. The Cardinals last two games are against the Falcons and the Rams, both at home, so odds are they will win their final two games (Though the Cards did lose at home to the 49ers, so there is hope). The Saints final two games are against the Eagles and Bears. They could lose either of those games, which mean we should probably be rooting for the Saints to go ahead and give the Cardinals their 8th loss.

Next is Detroit at San Diego, obviously we are rooting for the Chargers; a loss by the Lions would stick them at 6-8.

Philadelphia at Dallas, again this week we are rooting for the Cowboys. There are two reasons we want Dallas to keep winning. One, we don’t want the final game of the season to mean anything to them, we want them to be in cruise control resting starters at halftime, so as long as they stay ahead of Green Bay, their game against us will mean nothing to them. Also, if they beat the Eagles it will give them 9 losses which would eliminate them.

The last game of interest besides our own game vs. the Giants is Chicago at Minnesota. We need Minnesota to lose; we need them to lose because it would give us some insurance against a loss to the Giants, because if we bounce back and beat the Vikings we’d pull ahead of them.

What it all boils down to is, we actually control our own destiny, if we win the next 3 games we are in regardless. Everything mentioned above comes into play if we lose to the Giants or the Cowboys.

We cannot under any circumstance lose to the Vikings; if we do that our season is over even if we beat the Giants and Cowboys.

In researching all of this it’s painful to realize that we realistically have given away 4, 5, maybe even 6 games.

The loss to the Giants, the second half collapse.

The loss to the Packers, Moss was their MVP.

The loss to the Eagles, a 4th quarter collapse.

T

he loss to the Cowboys, so close, why didn’t you just run the damn ball Jason?

The loss to the Bucs, they had 15 yards of offense in the 2nd half and we still lost.

The loss to the Bills, just disgusting, we were beat by field goals and a safety.

If we just win two of these games we are 8-5 right now and a virtual lock for the playoffs. Not to turn this into a Joe Gibbs thread but I think this is going to define his second stint in DC unless he does something miraculous, losing games we had no business losing. This should have been a playoff year and if we finish 1 game short we have 6 games to look back on and wonder how we lost them all when we just needed 1.

We should be hoping the Saints lose more so than any other team. If we win the last 3 and so do they, I think they win the tiebreaker by virtue of Conference record. We would hold the tiebreaker over every other team that could tie us. That's IF we win the last 3. I like our chances.

It's been said a thousand times.... But the Saints have to loose 1, or we don't control our own fate.

The tough loses are killing me right now, Bills, Eagles, Bucs, Green Bay....

I don't, however, add the Giants to that. We did nothing in the 2nd half. If we had tied that game at 24, we probably were going to loose in OT.

Still - It's amazing that with a saints lost, we are in the drivers seat.

Great post. We win half those games, we are sitting at 9 and 4, with the chance to possibly get a first round bye. Amazing how the coaching staff would let the players get away with poor execution 6 straight times. It's also amazing how the coaches wouldn't recognize their **** playcalling and fix it so it wouldnt happen again.

I say we root for the Redskins, and watch the scores for the rest of the games. I mean, its not as if the team we want to lose will actually lose. Its like a reverse psychology or something with us.

Either way, I'm rooting for the Redskins to win, and the VaGiants to lose.

If the Saints win tonight, then we hop on the Arizona bandwagon next week. Simple as that.

Man its hard to root for the cowboys. I went to a sportsbar yesterday with my friend who is a boys fan to watch the game. The bar was clapping when they were coming back on that last drive and I almost clapped but luckily my redskins engraved brain stopped me before my hands did. My friend did catch me doing a mini fist pump when Romo sits to pee threw that game winning pass to Witten.

We don't need the Cardinals to lose...we are tied with thew now and have the tie breaker...

Regardless if the Saints win tonight or lose...we want the Cardinals to beat them...

If we get to 9-7...the Saints are the ONLY team that could be us out for the #6 spot based on conference record.
