Kilmer17
Too bad, I was hoping for a darker version. More Batman Begins than Batman. Looks like camp wins again.
Thanos
How can "Speed Racer" be dark? The history of Racer X maybe but it was about a fast car , a boy and a chimp.

He's saying he wished it would be dark like Batman Begins and not campy like Batman. And I agree. Not a chance this movie is worth a damn.

Rumrunner6900
Just from the stills, it would appear the use of hallucinogenics would spice up the movie nicely!
Kosher Ham
The stills alone speak volumes. This movie will fail miserably.

DGreenistheBest
This is directed by the Wachowskis so in the very least I expect some revolutionary new techniques to be exhibited. They really went for the exact look of the original show. Why is there a 6 on the Mach Five? Different car.
DoGood28
The TV show was terrible. I don't know why the movie would be any better.

You have modern anime spoiling you. Back in the day (before you were conceived) Speed Racer was da BOMB.

Ain't that the truth. It was my absolute favorite show when I was a kid, and the Mach Five was the coolest car in the universe. When I was in my 20s I bought a few of the shows on tape, and man, they don't hold up. Haven't watched them again in 10 years. I think I'd rather just remember the show the way it was when I was a kid. Not sure about the movie. It looks pretty wacky.

Henry
It was indeed, Marine Boy. You are thinking of the "aqua gum" he chewed to breathe under water. I know. Years ago I looked it up and confirmed that I was completely wrong but that's how I remembered it. "Marine Boy" to this day doesn't ring any damn bells. I remember the cool boomerang though. That's gotta count for something, right?
